I totally love this watch. Been on my wrist nonstop for a year and a half and it looks as good as new! And I'm not easy on my watches! The functionality is just great as well, always accurate to the second.
Esse é o relógio mais bonito já feito pela humanidade. Todos os outros são apenas relógios perto dessa jóia. Um dia a Casio vai fabricar alguns desses e vai me presentear.
That bezel, outer ring... it's exactly what Watchfinder & Co. Was talking about in his recent GMT video. A shade of color for the 24 hours of the day, blues, oranges, blacks. Amazing.
Even though the cheapest Oceanus is out of my reach for the moment, I'd say there should be no problem to pay 1800USD for the one in this video. Why? You get amazing value for your money and not to mention a very, very beautiful watch. I may be wrong, but let's look at the mechanical watches, you get the same movement mounted in a wide range of watches covering from 700USD or so to thousands of dollars. The amateur me blames this difference on materials, case finishing and design and brand. And they get away with it just fine, just because they pack a mechanical movement. Why wouldn't this work for quartz? Especially since we're not talking about a run of the mill movement here, but a nice technology infused movement, packed in a brilliant case. I's say that scoffing at the 1800USD price tag just because of the quartz movement is a little bit of snobbery. Anyway... I digress... This is a beautiful watch from all points of view and would easily find its place in any collection.
Just strapped on this exact model and it’s everything you described. Light, handsome with a very welcome quick adjust on the comfortable bracelet. Connection to the Oceanus app is a breeze...and I don’t have to worry about not having an atomic clock signal when I’m in Auckland or Sydney..or anywhere else that doesn’t have a signal. Comparatively inexpensive compared to my Navitimer, my Rolexes and Omegas....yet, like the Oceanus 100 I’ve been using as my go to travel watch in the past year or so...this is the one I’ll be using to insure the mechanicals are accurate to the second. For a ‘limited edition’ this one was amazingly easy to find and order thru Seyia Japan and arrived in a matter of days. I highly endorse your opinion on this particular piece.
I really like the updated Oceanus but I still love my original. At first I didn't like the looks of the $1800 version but it started to grow on me. Thanks for the presentation.
Great review. I bought the $500 Oceanus last fall after Nick's review. I'm still very happy with it and it is still in great condition considering how much it gets banged into things.
Thank you Nick for the review! I think you sell the S100 short in this key aspect. It's NOT dependent on the NIST atomic radio signal. For 1, it's close to being a HAQ all by itself. Also, there are emulator phone and computer apps that will generate the signal for you. To be clear, an emulator is just as functional as the Cssio BT app and arguably more future proof. There is a Casio OEM rubber strap from the Edifice line that fits so it's not quite all or nothing with the bracelet. The lesser known but still available T150 will get you quick adjust clasp and still in titanium, albeit still proprietary lugs.
Hey Nick has your scale by any chance the option to convert to metric and if so can you do it when you weigh something for us folks outside of America?
Well, damn. Nick, you are really enticing me with a different level of Casio there. I have the PRG 650-Y which I absolutely enjoy as a tool/adventure watch, however I’ve been hesitant to enter the metal world of Casio. I might have to reconsider.
Nick, you should try a Casio GMW-B5000, the full metal square, they're excellent watches with a great bracelet and of course atomic timekeeping. Casio doesn't get enough credit for all the awesome stuff they make.
I love the 90s teal and hot pink colours coming off of the bezel. It looks like how all my GTAV cars end up. So thin! You've got a winner there, definitely more of a looker than the aerospace.
this is a beauty, certanly much more than the breitling. the t200 is the last watch on my list for this year, but i still have an eye for the t300 briefing model. if i can still find it, i might postpone the t200 for the next years list
@@NickShabazz Yeah, but it's a quartz watch, you only need to set it every so often. AND, there's smart phone apps that simulate the signal if the tower(s) got shut down, which isn't much different than using the Casio app, but has the added bonus of not being tied to only using one app - you can pick form several signal emulators. I've also seen on the G Shock forums that the app is pretty spotty.... I have a JDM radio controlled Citizen that only picks up the Japanese signal, setting it up manually is a bit of a pain, but syncing it with an emulator app is pretty painless.
@@NickShabazz I have trouble with radio signal where I stay, using Casio GW-A1000FC 5240 module, amazing watch but hard to set by hand(my opinion) in almost 2 years i received the signal one or two times. Today I found that you can set the watch with app on phone( just type on ios or android store "clock wave emulator", install the app, open it and put the clock in manual signal receiving mode, place the speaker near the 12 hour mark of the watch and ~3 minutes the watch is set with a maximum of 2 second delay from what the internet atomic clock shows. Hope it will help all people having trouble with signal receiving or hard to set watches.
I'm not very big on watches. Have a few and have a couple smartwatches but that is the BEST looking watch I have ever seen... Do I need to get more into watches?... uh oh...
Hey Nick, I’m confused about a comment you made on the S100. It can receive the radio signal nightly, but what do you mean when you say it’s “entirely dependent on the radio broadcast of the time”? Does the watch have no ability to keep accurate time without a radio signal? I’m asking this a bit sarcastically, but I think you overstated that drawback.
I got a casio gwa1100 and i love love love it. Its really hard for me to go to another watch because of how many functions id be losing. It has too many to even list, and its all analog. Looks like ill be stuck with casio til another company can offer this much. Nice review btw, like always.
Hey it would be great if you could do some reviews on other Casio watches and in particular the Lineage Wave Ceptor line. They have the 5161 module in cases ranging from plastic/resin to steel and even titanium. They also come with plastic, mineral glass and even sapphire crystal.

I want one! But for now please review the Casio Fishing Gear. It's blue. It's beautiful. It's accurate. It's a little less expensive than the OCW-S5000C.
Nick, you are not crazy, you just got into watches and now you're paying the price.. We are in the same boat, when you got something nice, you are always curious about what the next tier brings to the table which your "cheaper" watch doesn't... Radio controlled watches are not *entirely dependent* on the radio towers. You can set the time manually like any other watch.
