After trying every iteration of the OSU1/OSU2/OSU3 offline update, swapping out flash drives and then ultimately replacing the hard drive, and was still get e100 error. And after I was about to call it quits I saw this video and guess what? The disc drive cable was just disconnected. It’s back to 100%! Thank you so much for this video!
After days of working with my HDD thinking that's what was wrong with the xbox and the E100 error code, I finally discovered it to be the Disc Drive SATA cable not working. After putting a spare one I had laying around, I was able to complete the update and the xbox finally works again. Thank you!!!

UPDATE: THIS WORKS !! But only if it is the exact code as shown in the video "E100 00000703 80910002" then it can be possible that it's a simple cable swap if the cables look damaged in any way either way GIVE IT A TRY!! You never know with these things. I am very happy :) Also, BIGGGG thanks to TheCod3r because I probably wouldn't have thought of the cables if it weren't for you thanks for reading this, and have a good day.

I found this video helpful as I have an Xbox one x that has the same error and when I opened it at first there looked to be no problem until I saw the cables to the disc drive were damaged so I ordered them and I am waiting until this Friday time to see if it can be repaired thanks for uploading this video for people who are stuck on this e100 error that can be an easy fix as shown in the video.

Was in the process of SSD swapping my Xbox One X. OSU1 was running fine until the start of step 3 (Applying) and it was frustrating as fuck. I was using every bit of IT knowledge, multiple different drives, cables.. wiping drive data, formatting, power cycling, EVERYTHING. Came by this video and tried plugging the disk drive back in, and what do you know.. up and running in less than 10 minutes.
LESSON LEARNED.. YOU CANNOT- CAN. NOT.- REMOVE THE DISK DRIVE
no matter how bulky, and ugly, and heat producing, and airflow blocking it is.
Fucking microsoft.
My drive ic is damaged and there is no way to get past the e100 update loop. Microsoft should stop checking drive in update and just update the software. I could have used the xbox to play digital games but now its just trash. Microsoft should release an update for xboxes with no wifi card or blu ray drive. Green earth is just a gimmick.

I have an Xbox one S that is missing its optical drive and is stuck in a E100 loop. Ive been told that the odd is married to the motherboard and cannot be replaced. Is there no way to re-marry an odd or maybe mod the console into skipping the ODD checks? (turn it into a sort of "all digital" version)

merci beaucoup, la solution parfaite si on as deja tt essayer de classique, en effet, ma xbox one s était tombée, et suite a un demontage le cable sata etait défectueux et je l avais enlever, ca marcher sans probleme, sauf lw cd bien sur..., mais a une mise a jour ca bloquer a 64%, et la juste en branchant un cable sata lambda ca a permis de reprendre la mise a jour
I had the E100 error, checked wires no cracks. So I opened the disk drive looked around nothing wrong there, moved the eye mechanism back away from center. Just wanted to be able to hear if it moved. Used the OSU1 on my jump drive and its loaded up and system is working. Just thought Id pass this along might help somebody.

The laser lens is what I was calling the “eye mechanism” at the time. Probably from being so frazzled from working on it. Lol
I believe the laser lens mechanism was in a bind or something. Either way moving outwards away from center worked cause system is still operational. Hope that helps yah !

How come this is still a problem even with xbox one s digital's being out? There's no way to take a disc drive out of a normal S and make it think it's a S digital?
