  • @williamsquires3070

I think after the 1st two popped MOSFETs, I’d have just removed all the MOSFETs in that section, then measured the resistance from ground to each of the power rails right where the power supply plugs in, but with the PSU disconnected. If that checks out, try to measure the voltages on the gates (and drains) of the MOSFETs that keep failing (or, better yet, use a scope) with the PSU connected.
There shouldn’t be any voltage drop (in diode mode) between the gate and either source or drain of a MOSFET; the gate floats on an insulating oxide layer over the source-drain channel. It should show 0L (overload) on the meter. This whole thing sounds like an initial cascade failure which rapidly took out the MOSFETs and (possibly) the gate drivers.

Wow what an amazing video. I really have to thank you for that. Thank you.
That was a real tough nut…so many mosfets you had to replace. You are right, you invested so much time in this board, it has to go to an end. You have more and more things that has to be done and fixed. And again so many grfx-card came in…unbelievable.
But it would be interesting what’s the problem with this board.

Looks like an active short. When powering up, something is driving those mosfets off spec and blowing them like a fuse. The weakest mosfet blows first, so you would need to check the voltage rails with an oscilloscope as soon as you turn the device on. Well if you would really want to go that rabbit hole

@@astroman5923: Yup, a SLOW-DAY repair. But NF has no slow days. I know it killed him to call it off because he knows that all he needs is time.

You serve as great inspiration too many...the technical term for what your doing i think is called ...killing it man, killing it.. ;-) ...How does your marketing work?....word of mouth only + youtube ? if so that's amazing..as i see you have a small one man operation and there are normally too many of these repair stores..which tend to struggle with staying afloat in this disposable society.....you are from Cuba right? I got my first PC in 1987/88...first games console in 84...peak of my career for me was project manager, and senior field service engineer, team lead in IT/Networking, 2014...i was a surface mount, debug technician for Compaq.94/98..right when the internet was blowing up in UK...so it's amazing to see how things have advanced...all we had were wiring diagrams and experience back then....the good old DOA's...i went from apprentice PC build/tester to debug technician and staff trainer..in 3 years...in your last video about life/career philosophy you were spot on...i admire your outlook..experience is everything ...the door swings both ways ..the bigger companies use and abuse too often..but i got what i needed from my earlier career..and taught me how to deal with people...certain jobs, leave certain impressions..keep up the amazing work my friend......Psa-.Scotland..
