Well done. I would not say that it was totally based on luck. I think it shows your experience and skill to work out the possibilities. Great asset to have.
Thank you. Yeah sometimes you have to stop and think and realise that it could've happened to anyone. Just circumstance that the other shop didn't test it first before opening it up
Invaluable information in a wonderful execution. I know I've been caught by stuff similar to what you explained at the end there as well. Thank you so much for this video and happy holidays from Canada.
Thanks! @TheCod3r This was exactly the problem I just faced on an Xbox Series X. After replacing a mangled HDMI port, I encountered a beep on beep off situation. I watched your video, took the Xbox back apart, tested around the Retimer and ESD chip, didn't find anything wrong, and went ahead and replaced the U82 transistor as shown in your video. Put the Xbox back together: Problem solved. Everything works perfectly. I'm not sure if this is useful to anyone but I did do before and after Diode readings of the transistor. The only difference (albeit minor) between the diode readings was PIN 3: Original: 0.642 Replacement: 0.578 To me those readings don't look significantly different to indicate that there's anything wrong with the transistor. My guess is that if you could put voltage through the circuit with the damaged transistor you would see strange voltage readings on the output of the transistor. I guess this is one of those situations where experience is key. Thank you for sharing experience through your TH-cam channel!
On a working board be nice to test the input voltage and the output voltage as it would help to know if they can just be ordered from Mouser or Digikey. Pin 1 is normally the input voltage and Pin 3 the output with pin 2 normally be ground on these 5 legged models. Thanks for all your great videos, they have helped me immeasurably to become a better tech.
I we have an Series X that we think has a bad ESDIC chip (it's all so been called a BGA chip by other repairers). We found out that the one X also has this same chip but we were not sure it would work for the series X; however, after hearing the repairer here state that it will, we're going to give it a try! Thanks for the video and the information!!
Merry Christmas my dude. Im planning on picking up an ifixit kit at some point of the new year to try my hand at opening up my consoles. My super slim PS3 hasnt been cleaned out since i first got it 8 years ago & i think its long overdue.
Got the new x box halo edition. It started randomly glitching and turning off. Now it turns on for 3 seconds and shuts right off. Replaced the power supply and same problem. Now to replace boards..Fun times!
Haha yeah sorry I havent filmed much lately because I've been too busy so I'm just going through some archived videos. I've probably got about 50 backlogged lol
Great job mate 👍 👏 👌 enjoy your videos 📹 please keep them coming 🙏 👍 and here to help get your videos 📹 out to everyone 😀 👍 😉 Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 mate see you on the next one 👍 😀 😊
I've got a series S on my desk with the same issues, will see if i can find that similar regulator! The hdmi retimer replaced, esd chip replaced, port replaced... the console gets hot and draws 1.1 Amp but doesnt turn on, beep on beep off.
My beep on beep off problem was a little different and I feel dumb but it may help other dumb people like myself. After hdmi replacement when putting everything back together i forgot to connect the flat wide flex cable under the power supply.
If you get a 3rd Xbox Series X where that transistor was toasted that might begin to establish a pattern of known fail points. At what point do you start looking into sourcing new common failure components from Mouser or some other supplier?
I think I've had 3 now in the past couple of months (I had another one after this but can't for the life of me find the footage). Id say if I need to do the same job 3 times I usually look into finding the correct component as a new component but really I guess it depends how many donor boards I have too
Mate would that JB0cC 5v Regulator be found on an Xbox One S? got a spare broken one laying around & just got a cheap Series X with the beep on beep off problem. Cheers
I have exactly the same problem, now the only question is where to find a replacement part Is it possible to buy it somewhere with a different mark or does it have to be exclusively from the donor plate? Unfortunately I can't send the console to Microsoft because it's been 5 days since the warranty expired. Bad luck
I have the same issues with an Xbox series s I just got for someone. It was working fine earlier when I installed games on it but when it got to the person I got it for it went bipbop and didn’t come on.
Hi I changed on two Series X the HDMI Port and it did work.. But there is a issue now with the Network.. The Xbox Series X keeps telling me that a Network Cable is connected and there is no cable connected. I can not connect for that reason with wifi and at one of the XBOX I did start a Update from USB Stick and now it ist stuck in the Update process with a error that Network is not ok.. What the heck is that ? When I changed the HDMI Port it looked all good. Did I heat the motherboard maybe to much and the Network system did get a damage ?
Man I have xbox all access and my series x died at my 16th payment 3 months out of warranty this is a rediculous. Mine wont turn on what would you reccomend for it not turning on
I do offer repairs mate yeah. The elite I can work on but normal controllers I don't tend to do because they're cheaper to buy new ones usually. For the elite though you're welcome to book it in on my website (link is in the description)
Good afternoon Phil I'm have the weirdest experience in my Xbox one series x the console boots to screen but then shuts off when there's no activity for about 3-5 seconds could it be the ssd or a firmware issue?
Great video brother, just wanted to ask you, my xbox is having a problem when I try to turn it on it won’t start in the first time I need to powered it up more then one time then it go back to normal and works just fine and sometimes it’s true on but no image comes out after a few try then it works normal so can you tell me or advise me what to do ?
Interesting... I replaced a DVD drive in my Xbox One X and after doing so, i found out it wont stay turned off? if i take out a physical Disk, and shut it off 30 seconds later it turns it self back on, but if i leave the Disk in it shuts off normal when i shut it off and stays off?
It sounds like either you've damaged something during the replacement or the new drive could be faulty. It's hard to say but there is a sensor inside the drive so that could be turning the console on
Oh phil health and strength for the New Year bro. I'm looking at this video as I bought one of this system on eBay, the seller told me the only issue was the HDMI turns out I'm having the same issue beep on beep off, base readings 0.787 and on a couple of pins both input and output .496 on the HDMI encoder any thoughts? I'm not getting any short circuit anywhere
Hey bro i hope u reply to me as soon as possible, i got the same issue with my series x but i see a 3 legs instead of 5 legs on my xbox original donor board
Another successful repair sir🔥👍. Is it possible to do this job without a microscope, maybe with a helping hands with magnifying glass? Thanks in advance
Yeah depending on eye sight you could do it without a microscope. I only use the scope mainly for the videos there days and can do most jobs without it
To paraphrase Dr McCoy in Star Trek 4, "I trust your [Spock's] guesses better than most people's facts". Bloody excellent is about all I can think to add. I hadn't really seen much of the new X Box's insides. Much better built then the PS5, if more time consuming to dig into.
Thanks mate. To be honest I do think these are better built and really really easier to get in to aswell. The PS5 have way to many screws. Since this video was filmed (2nd December 2021) I've actually had another one with the same fault and same component failure so it does seem a common failure point but the PS5 also has a common failure with with 5v buck converter failing so they all have their quirks lol
Listen to me man I don't know if you'll see this but I hope anyways that black spot behind your son I hear the voice in your videos it's because I listen I promise don't worry about things life is life and things will care on

Great job phil well done and a merry christmas and a happy new year to you and your family once again great job bud.
Thank mate the same to you 😄
Glad it worked! Time to stock up on those transistors 😀
Haha yeah definitely, looks like it could be a common fault. I've had another one since then with the same issue 😕
Awesome work. Congrats from Brazil.

This shows that experience sometimes beats schematics.
Nice job mate, good insight. Was that a transistor on hdmi circuit?
Great video keep up with great work and have great Xmas tomorrow and I have PS4pro with one front usb broken
Thanks mate you too. The USB ports I'm not sure where to buy them from to be honest. I generally take them from donor boards myself

So the hdmi port blew out other components as well? Great work here.
