It is a negative logic sensor, so "guilty by default until proven innocent" (here: pressure too low by default, until proven sufficient). In the first state (too low pressure), the electric circuit is closed (the control lamp on the dashboard lights up). In the second condition (sufficient pressure), the electric circuit is interrupted inside sensor (the control lamp is off). So you check the sensor itself like this: you unscrew it from the filter base and check with a multimeter by touching one probe to the sensor metal housing and the other to the pin from the plug. A closed circuit should appear. If not, the sensor is burnt and discard it. If it is ok, then take a hydraulic tee, mount this sensor in it and a dial gauge which will show the numerical values of the pressure. You will see when the sensor disconnects the circuit - is the correct pressure. You assemble tee into motor, into the sensor socket and start the engine. You check whether and at what pressure the sensor disconnects the circuit. Now you have all the data whether this sensor is still working well or whether you can throw it in the trash.
Thank you brilliantly instructive. BUT I was hoping it would cure a problem like a miss fire on a petrol . Like a jump Similar to an air bubble going through the fuel. Just a quick jump. Mostly as the engine is warming up. ANY IDEAS?
You're welcome. It's hard to say, it could be caused by many different issues like fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, fuel injector etc. Is the engine light coming on ?
Hi, is this related to P0658 ? mine is a peugeot 308 4 speed year 2010 model accelerator pedal wont function after few kilometres driven. and i have to switch off and start again and it works fine for another few kilometres and the accelerator pedal wont function again.
No this switch just senses when the engine oil pressure is low and illuminates an oil light on the dash. This link gives some info on code P0658: www.troublecodes.net/pcodes/p0658/
If the dipstick is showing the correct level of oil, then the oil level sensor could be faulty. It's usually located on or near the oil filter housing.
Apparently it can be in different locations. According to the manual "The oil pressure switch is located at the front of the cylinder block, adjacent to the oil dipstick guide tube (1.4 litre engines) or above the oil filter mounting (2.0 litre engines)."
I have a problem with the oil light on the dashboard, it doesn't light up at all, atleast on ignition. The light itself works, it can turned on with tester, I also have a new switch. It should light up on ignition, right?
@@screwsnutsandbolts the oil pressure is good, but the light doesn't come at all. Even that little oil meter thing works on ignition where the km's are
Yeah that's the oil level sensor reading. The oil pressure switch is the one that turns on the light if the pressure is low. Did you say you changed the switch ?
Maybe one of the wires is grounding somewhere. I read this on a forum: "You should be able to check if its the sending unit by grounding the wire at the sender to the engine case. The oil light should come on (power on). All the sender does is provide a ground when there is no oil pressure. The sender could be stuck with the circuit open so you never get the ground signal."

Hello, great video. What if the wiring plug is the damaged part, do you know how/where to get a new one of those? (206 1.4 2006). Thanks
You can buy one here: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003304272271.html
You could probably find one on Amazon or Ebay too
What you should point out is that the clip on the electrical connector is usually positioned in a place where you can't even get a fingernail to it.
Where does the wire oil pressure sensor go? Because the wire 1 pin was cut off after servicing the engine .
Should it be 22mm or 24 mm could also work to loosen?
Thank you brilliantly instructive.

Do I need to go underneath the car to replace it or can it be done from the top?
You should be able to replace it from the top. I removed it from underneath so my hands weren't blocking the view in the video.
@screwsnutsandbolts i have a couple of problems in my car. Hopefully this might clear one. Am sure will.
Wow. Wish the GM cars put that switch up front. Mine is located way back in the engine bay. Very little space to get to it
Do you think I could do it my own? should I go underneath of the car to replace it?
Only attempt it if you have the right equipment and you know what you're doing. If you have any doubts, have a mechanic fix it for you.
The new switch is 21 mm socket but the old one is different do you know wich size would it be ?
Hello i have P040A fault code on my Peugeot 308sw 1.6hdi, description of code is:

What did you use to get the code reading ?, when I look up P040A it seems to be related to the 'Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor' ?

I'm not sure, I've never worked on a 207
