Former Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino shares the tactics Leganes used for their victory over Barcelona in 2018.
Barca were unbeaten at that point, and Leganes were bottom of La Liga, having recorded only a solitary point.
Ernesto Valverde’s team went ahead through Philippe Coutinho’s 12th-minute goal, but Pellegrino’s team responded by scoring twice in the second half to secure a vital victory that took them out of the division’s bottom three.
Valverde had then only suffered one previous defeat as Barca’s manager.

A fine manager, didn't deserve the hit to his reputation for his stint at Southampton.

@@LowkiTheHusky He chose poorly, he arrived to a squad of sub-par players who weren't interested in buying into his strategy with a non-existent budget to fix it. Not saying he's top 4 tier but he's definitely not as bad as the English press made him out to be.
@@AnonNomad no. that is not the case at all, mind you im a saints fan myself and i have never seen such poor football in my life up untill he joined, u need to realise hes such an uninspiring manager and clueless. practically everytime we took the lead we'd just sit back and let the opposition come at us, we never wanted to kill of the game. Southampton is known for attacking football and high pressing and he did none of that. All it was at our club was side to side then back to the defence just look how ralph hassunhutle has transformed our team and compare it to the likes when we did have van dijk and all these expensive players under a manager who SHOULD of been fine with a squad like that.
Transition: if you like the manager, you make all the excuses that let him off, and blame the players e.g "didn't buy into his strategy".
If you dislike the manager, it was his tactics and man management.
