    Thanks for this! I've watched so many videos on life casting but I've never been able to find one that explains how to do the rod part or what to use for it. Also, so much yes to the sculpting video. You explain things in a way that makes it so much easier to understand and retain 🙂

    Oh please do a sculpting video!! I love doing fx makeup and I really want to get into making masks and more prosthetics, and your videos are very informative. Love your work!

    electrical conduit might be a less expensive alternative to the shower rod. the metal is also a bit thinner so it should be easier and faster to cut.

    There's a tool that you can use to easily cut metal tubes - it's called a tube cutter (!). A lot easier than sawing.

      Take as many art classes that you can especially color theory, painting and sculpting. Study Anatomy. Study nature. Look up other makeup artists that you admire and study their work. Oh and practice, lots and lots of practice. That should give you a pretty good start. :D

    This was an answer to a prayer! Thank you! Quick question: How is this with clay release? I made a cast once (nothing like this) and the clay (polymer) bonded to the cast. How could I prevent that?

    • @goldiestarling
      @goldiestarling  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cast a polymer clay with silicone? I have not done that before. I have cast silicone over chavant clay, which is oil based, and it was totally fine.

      goldiestarling No, I'm sorry. I followed another tutorial and used the bandages and then plaster of Paris for the positive. The clay stuck to the finished plaster.

    This is incredibly helpful! I made my old lifecast out of Plaster of Paris, do you think this is good, or should I get some ultracal 30 for when I remake it?

    • @goldiestarling
      @goldiestarling  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely get Ultracal! Plaster of paris is soft and can be scraped and damaged while sculpting. Ultracal is a cement and super durable.

    Always wet burlap first, them ring it out before dipping in plaster.

    Darling, as always an inspiration. If you ever open your own business I would like to work for you. In the mean time if you know any fabulous gay men who like drag queens who walk the wild side of life? Send them my way, we then can collaborate after I move closer. Lol
