      May I ask how many rolls of the plaster was used? Going by the description you only used one, but that seems a little unlikely to me at those dimensions...

  • @z0000g7
    @z0000g7 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not dissing this technique, but it seems like a 3D printer would be a much easier way to get a mold of your head. You just sit still long enough to get scanned, and you're done, instead of for hours while a whole team of people smear goop on you, then plaster, then the extra steps of removing the cast and pouring molding material into that. Less time, less specialty materials, and less claustrophobia. Probably even cheaper too.

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, I mostly disagree but it is another option for sure. The trick for most people I think would be having access to a high enough resolution 3d scanner.

    • @z0000g7
      @z0000g7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, though having access to the manpower and expertise to make this work well might be a trick for most people too. It definitely makes for a cooler video though!

    Hey Bob, love the video(s). I was lucky enough to have a special effects company make a lifecast of my gigantic knoggin. Reason being that any mask they sculpted on it would fit anyone. I got a pull from the cast and it's been useful for everything from sculpting an Alien face hugger to stretching out a leather tricorn pirate hat. Unfortunately, during the casting, someone in the shop farted while I was constrained to only breathing through one nostril, which made the experience a bit traumatic. Only someone who has been through it can appreciate how vulnerable one is.

    I'm sorry if you might have posted this already but how many packs of the plaster bandages were needed for this?

    • @Luka1180
      @Luka1180 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder too, because they specified how many of the silicone kits they bought in the description (2) but seems to have written no number next to the plaster bandage on there, making me assume they only used one of these rolls. However, looking at guides online, a lot of them recommend using 7 rolls of the exact same dimensions as the one they used here. This is really confusing, and I would love to have a clarification on this.

    I am extremely curious as to how this process would work on someone with shoulder-length hair.
    Edit: Whoops, just remembered the bald cap. My bad.

    This is so cool! But it must have been pretty awkward to sit there and let them apply the silicone all over you! haha!

    I'd be freaked out if I had that done to me... but I'm glad you said it wasn't too bad. Great video! I can't wait to see what you do with the mold.

    I was having a hard time breathing just watching it. I kept taking large breaths through my nose. Can't imagine I would do well being the subject.

    Hey bob, i really like your videos since i'm into design myself. I'm just wondering if you'll be doing electronic projects with explanations for each component as i am struggling with electronics myself and what they are used for. It would be nice to see you use the overhead camera in your electronics station too. Thanks

    I don't know, I might get a little nervous knowing those 2 holes were the only thing I could breathe out of. What if you suddenly got a stuffy nose? Yeah, that could happen.

    Hey Bob, first off.. great video. Granted, I knew it was time lapse, but I'm sure you were breathing a bit hard during that. That would make me so uncomfortable after a while... but most importantly.... WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH IT? I feel like a clone army of Bob robots could put whole houses together in a few hours.

    Six degrees of separation really is a thing isn't it?
    I'm a follower of Tested content. I have been following them for years, was one of the original subscribers to the website when they were with Whiskey Media (Giant Bomb, Screened, Anime Vice and Comic Vine) and continued to support them when they were purchased by BermanBraun and finally when Adam Savage was introduced to the team.
    A few months ago TH-cam suggested I check out a video on how to make an arcade cabinet. I checked the video and was impressed enough by the content that I subscribed and that's how I became a subscriber here.
    For Tested.com to be mentioned here due to the association of Bill Doran and his relationship with the site really was quite surprising.
    Small world lol.
    Keep up the good work!
