  • MOUNTAIN GOLD AUSTRALIA - EPISODE 2 - A GOLDEN TREND - AUSSIE BLOKE PROSPECTOR
    Stretching along the Eastern Seaboard of Australia from the tip of Cape York in Far North Queensland to the Grampians of Western Victoria in the South of the continent, the Great Dividing Range has hosted countless GOLD RUSHES over the last 150 years.
    Join me, in this, my New Series "MOUNTAIN GOLD AUSTRALIA" in which, as it unfolds, I hope to take you on an epic journey as I PROSPECT the Mountain Country of the Great Divide of Eastern Australia.
    Of the thousands of Creeks, Rivers, Ridges, Gullies and Flats that yielded up their treasures during the Gold Rush years, many records have now been lost in time. For every record we have today of every notable find, rush and lucky strike, it is most likely that, either by neglect, loss or just simple lack of reporting, there are probably 10 more that we will never know of... these are THE LOST; and what of those areas that were altogether missed by the Old Timers and yet still lie un-discovered and un-disturbed... these are THE UNKNOWNS.
    I believe there remain two Golden Frontiers in Australia; in the West, where vast Rivers of Quartz & Ironstone spread out far beyond sun burnt horizons, known to us as the Goldfields of Western Australia; and in the East, those Forgotten and Untouched areas within the Mountain Country of the Great Divide.
    In this series, it is these LOST and UNKNOWNS that I seek in the Mountain Country of Eastern Australia.
    As we journey, I will endeavor to employ the OLD TIMERS search methods and where possible, follow their most likely courses of action upon any discoveries of note; and if possible, employ their methods of extraction and processing, within the constraints of "Todays" legal boundaries.
    This SECOND Episode, "A Golden Trend", finds me in back in the Rainforest Creek I discovered in Episode 1. Watch as I continue to sample and find more colour, and by doing so determine how the Gold is behaving. I ALSO venture deeper into the Mountain Rainforest and whilst trying more Creeks and Gullies, make new Discoveries. I begin to realise a GOLDEN TREND is emerging in the behavior of Gold in that part of the world. An area that warrants a lot more investigation.
    So come and join me as I prospect the MOUNTAIN COUNTRY of Eastern AUSTRALIA
    Enjoy, Like, Share and Subscribe. Regards Aussie

    Ripper video mate, this one captures the true sprit of prospecting. Anybody can go to a known spot and find gold, but to nut out new spots and be rewarded is a true success story and ultimately more rewarding than the gold itself. Keep it up mate looking forward to the next one.

      @@AussieBlokeProspector You made the remark, that it seems the further down the creek you get less & smaller gold, and that one should look higher the creek from where you started from. Well, are you going back and video an episode 2b, lets see if you actually could find the area or even a vein in a fault or a contact zone between the granite and the country rock where the colours are coming from. You are highly educational in showing us exactly how the guys in the 1800s found the metal deposits.

    My great uncle founded Hotham Heights and lived there for 27 years as Australias highest perched resident. He had a theory that the goldfields from Ballarat/ Bendigo carried through to the high country. Eventually he found a rich vein which is still being worked to this day. The Red Robin mine near the top of Mt Hotham. It was said that he was a great prospector but a crap miner so he never made his fortune. Very hard life. His name is Bill Spargo and he led the crew who built the Great Alpine road from Harrietville to Omeo. I'd love to prospect the area but live 2 days drive away. Maybe get a chance one day. Until then your vids will suffice. Cheers.

  • @GrooberNedJardine

    A great journey you took us on ,very interesting indeed , and yielded some nice course gold , it had me wondering though ,i thought maybe the gold is in the granite bedrock itself ,not travelling there and sinking in , but actually in it , you might have inferred that anyway .Maybe if you could take a rock sample of the bedrock to crush and see , i know an area up north where i am, and a well known plateau, which a mining company wanted to crush the whole mountain of decomposing granite because they said it was believed to have between 3 and 5 penny weight to the ton ,but the EPA ,and environmentalist canned that idea ,just a thought ,anyway great vid and thanks for sharing , cheers .

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoyed the journey. An interesting point you raise. I have never found Gold encased in pure granite as such...only where the decomposition traps it. As far as I know ( and I could be wrong ) granite is a combination of Feldspar, Quartz and Mica ( Biotite ) so gold isn't in it's composition... having said all that..it would be interesting to crush some and see. Regards Aussie

    Another great episode. Appreciate the time you spend on your editing and presentation. I am learning so much from your methodical approach to prospecting. Subscribed after the 1st vid of this series. Out of curiosity if something goes wrong on one of your solo prospecting trips will you be able to get help? The reason I ask is that my hunting partner broke his hip on a big game hunting trip last November and fortunately it was only a 20 minute hike out for me to get help but it could have been far worse, as he fell near the start of our hunting trip. Neither one of us had cell phones on us and even if we did, the area we were in can have spotty cell phone service. Just saying, everyone please be safe on your outdoor adventures. Best wishes to you.

    Your vids are so very very good and absolutely brilliant to learn from. I have learnt so much from this one vid. Incredible!!!! One question; could you please give me a vague idea of where you are. I don't need to know the actual creek, but the general area would help me in my planning for my trip later this year. I'm thinking of starting from the Qld/NSW border and moving north but looking at the area you're in, I'm thinking I could start somewhere around there instead. Regardless; thanks so much for a great vid John - Cheers :)

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really do appreciate the great feedback and am glad that you have learnt so much from this vid... but I'm sure you already know I can't even give you a vague idea where this might be for several good reasons... and of course I certainly couldn't mention it here in a public forum. One of the main reasons I can't say is that most locations that do get mentioned on social media get inundated, trashed and destroyed... and I certainly don't want to be the cause of that. I hope you can understand that. Regards Aussie
