    This is great!I have been making homemade laundry detergent for years! My recipe is almost identical to yours. For my family, it lasts about 8 mos. and costs me about $26 a batch (I use scent crystals and oxygen cleaner from Dollar Tree). My recipe makes about 400 loads (1 Tablespoon/load) Anyway, I just did a cost analysis a couple weeks ago (January 23). I also use a food processor to get everything very fine. We have very hard water where we live, so I use vinegar in my wash. This detergent works great for ALL our laundry needs! Thanks for sharing.

    I had made it before using foca detergent but I am going to make another batch with your instructions. Love that you had your baby's with you. Thank you for sharing. Things are getting worse every day. Thank you.

    I totally agree with you! A lot of people also use way too much detergent, companies want you to run out and buy more! I use half the amount of the instructions and my clothes are always clean!

    What size Oxiclean is container you use? And about how much does it cost total? Thanks

    Personally I think zote cleans and smells better than fels naptha.

    does anyone use distilled vinegar as fabric softener? Just wanted to make sure they (detergent and vinegar) will work well together. Thank you so much for any input

    • @kuro.hitsuji
      @kuro.hitsuji ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, as far as I know, fabric softener is actually supposed to go into the last rinse cycle, not at the beginning. So that's when you should throw in the vinegar. If you use at the beginning, it will neutralize the washing soda and render it useless, also you're not supposed to mix it with oxyclean.

      @@kuro.hitsuji thanks for the response. The machine has two different trays..one for detergent and one for fabric softener. So id assume it only adds the fabric softener "vinegar" after its been washed.

    Do you have a problem with it leaving some on your clothes where it does not rinse out well?

      I did have that problem sometimes with the Felsnaptha, but not at all with the Zote.

    What are the ounces/lbs for the baking soda, borax, and oxyclean?

    I don’t see how that is so cheap with all the different additives. I buy a huge box of Daz for £8.79 that says 120 washes on the box but lasts me longer . I think most people wash things far too quickly, do too much washing which is bad for the environment as well as your purse. I SLO don’t understand why most Americans tumble dry everything. Most of my washing gets dried outside in sunshine and wind and smells fresh from that.

      @jr3028 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s cheap because it’s so concentrated and you will only have to use very little per load. I think things get tumble dried because it’s convenient and “what’s always been done.” Plus some county’s won’t allow in city residents to hang dry clothes. I prefer the freshness of hang dried clothes but my papa doesn’t have a clothes line in his back yard, so I just use the bannister upstairs.

      I prefer using the dryer because I live in a small apartment and there's no place to find room for hanging clothes. If I had a yard and a place to hang them I would!

    I make my own......I don't care for the scent either Zote or Fels Naptha.....so.....I get plant-based bar soap & use that....I can choose the scent I like! I just add baking soda, washing soda & borax. I highly recommend checking out The Laundry Guy aka The Laundry Evangelist aka Patric (that's how he spells it) Richardson. He really know fabric....& laundry. He says the biggest mistake most people make is using way too much laundry detergent. A tablespoon of powdered kind is plenty...an eighth cup of liquid is plenty. Too much detergent (as well as additives) creates residue in fabric. And if you have stain issues....this man knows how to get any kind out w/very simple ingredients.
