My car was slow and had a rough idle. I watched this video and changed the plugs MYSELF for the first time ever! My 2004 Echo hatchback (pretty rare) now runs like a dream. Thank you!
However, I did have to swallow my pride. I'm not used to learning how to fix my car from a Canadian.

@razzof The manual for my 2001 says .031 inches for NGK brand BKR5EYA spark plugs but NGK's website says .032 for all plugs. I assume .001 isn't critical.

The screw that's supposed to hold the bolt came off with the bolt. Is it bad if water leaks through it with no bolt on one side

Thanks for the video, Do you just drop in the spark plug? Would have liked seeing that part in your video....

The special socket you can buy from an auto parts store - maybe $5 has a rubber gasket that helps hold it in place when you install

What about Anti-seize? I've been told that you should always put that on your spark plugs before you place them in the engine.

    • @gregnixon1296

Yes, you need to use anti-seize on the threads of the plugs. Otherwise, bad things might happen if they become one with the car.

A lot of spark plug manufacturers recommend AGAINST the use of anti-seize.
If spark plugs are regular plugs, and not platinum or other exotic metal, then you can use anti-seize.

I use dielectric grease or Vaseline for the threads, prevents moisture from getting in and keeps it lubed up until the next change.

I really think your car needs to be cleaned though :( do it please :) My mom and sisters has cars and I cannot stand seeing their car dirty therefore they come to my house always and I clean their cars without them asking me. :)
