Even in the days of classic cinema, every Hitchcock masterpiece showed next to a full show card of forgettable westerns, and mediocre comedies. I believe the best films still come out of Hollywood, but they are just accompanied by all of the worst films in history.

    Just an aside, the gunslinger wearing the helmet at 0:10 is actually Ned Kelly from the Story of the Kelly Gang, an Australian film from 1906 and at the time the longest feature length movie to be released :)

      And yes, that's an Australian movie, i was fooled by the fact that's a 1900's western and didn't know that Australia had such film industry so early.

    The fact that you put a shot of Darth Maul in this but not a shot of Anakin and Obi-wan fighting on mustafar makes me so sad. Literally one of the most iconic choreographed fight scenes in history.

      Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 is by far the best movie of the spidey's series. I only included marvel's that i think are relevant in the scale of cinema, which are this one, iron man 1 (because it's the start of the mcu) and GotG 2 because it's my personnal and very subjective favorite.

    So much about old cinema was from using artist's eyes to create frames. And the best visually interesting modern movies use similar tricks, making something look more deliberately framed like an artist's canvas.

    Damn this was so good because it doesn't criticize anything at the begin its just the pure progress of great western cinema and even some examples like the old superman movie may not be as good as other films past present and future it was still fun refreshing and bad in funny old fashioned way .Great edit

    Love the classic films picks in this - even lesser known stuff like The Ghost and Mrs Muir! I commend you for spending an even amount of time on every Hollywood era. I feel like a lot of these Little Dark Age film edits speed through two or three classic films before spending 80% of their time on the '90s onwards. There's nothing wrong with modern cinema of course, but there are so many other great films that deserve a try. Just because they're older doesn't mean they're not enjoyable/worthy of discussion! Thank you and well done for making such a great edit :)

    I've been saying this. Back then it was not many resources as much creativity as possible. You know make the most of the available resources.
    Now it insanely high budgets, next to no creativity, and spending insane amounts on 2 seconds of background

      The most creative and commercially successful period of American cinema was when the studios had the least control and most hands off (1960s and 70s).

      You might just be old, I watch a lot of movies and I enjoy movies from the 90’s-2010’s the most. So many movies from the 80’s just didn’t age well at all for me.
