    Both of you and Everhard junction were instrumental in me taking up the hobby of model railways at the good old age of 69. I just model as I have no knowledge at all of real railways, so I thank you all for the inspiration.

    Charlie's layout and channel are great. His work is superb and his bone-dry humour, delivery and human angle are always a treat. He's right up there with Tony Hart in my heroes and inspiration list. He deserves every one of those subscribers. Long may his channel reign. Happy Christmas and New Year to you both and all watching.

    Hi Charlie I enjoyed your Video on Signals and cant wait for the next one. My name is John Tooze I worked on the S&D at the age of 17 starting as a cleaner boy, at 18 I had to join the army as a National Service Man. after me 2 years I returned to the S&D and worked through the ranks to become a Fireman/Driver, when Beeching axed the S&D I trans-fered to Bristol Bath Rd. working her on Diesels for 8 years but was not as happy as on the steam. So I left and joined my father in his Building business. In 1981, I emigrated to South Australia and 1997 I moved to Caboolture Queensland where I met a Southern Driver who showed me his layout and I was hooked. Ken then introduced me to John who helped me bui;d my first layout which was not based on anywhere in particular then I decided to build Bath Green Park even building the Gas Ohmmeters from card every little tile on the outside, also the glass overhead on the station before it was available as a kit. Then I pulled this down and we built Evercreech Junction these layouts were all DC. In 2002 I moved to Hervey Bay where a couple of years later a group was formed which I joined and saw DCC. Straight away I said this is for me By this time I was 82 and finding crawling underneath Evercreech difficult, so again I pulled it down and My friend Harold from the present Group, built me one based on a g on its side, this I can walk round and reach the rails to clean them easily. I am in the progress of adding Signals to this layout so I am really interested in your Video as I was having difficulty working out how to install them I have bought them from Train Tech and have watched their video but they lost me you made it so much more simple.
    I am needing block System Thank You again Yours Sincerely John Tooze

    New Junction, Nice to see the Warley Exhibition at the NEC again. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since I was last involved in exhibiting there. Saturday was alway's the busiest day and you catch up with people like Pete Waterman or the late David Jenkinson checking out things. Charlie's so relaxed and if you want to know something he'll tell you. He does'nt mind shareing his knowledge and idea's Cheers, Chris Perry.

    Listening to you both talking about the different TH-cam channels that you watch, they all inspire with how to do / how to solve problems. I personally like to watch the various techniques used to overcome problems, much more than seeing trains running, which seems to be the basis for the channels that you mention.

    A couple of the great TH-camrs chatting... fantastic! Great interview! wonderful insights and straightforwardness. I will say, I agree that content is king (for expanding subscribers), but chasing subscribers seems more about ego than just putting up videos for a lark as many do- kind of the opposite of what Charlie says here, maybe I misunderstood what he meant to say. Everyone has a goal- some to inspire, some to teach, some just to feel a part of the community; brilliant stuff all around!

    • @NewJunction
      @NewJunction  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding adsense to the mix takes the ego out of the equation, good content is rewarded with pocket money.
      Thanks as always Anthony! 👍🏻

  • @MrDavil43

    Charlie comes across as such a nice guy. His videos are a pleasure to watch and teach me a lot. Coincidentally, his comments re-photography echo my own experience. After years of amateur, and a little paid work, I suddenly became disillusioned with it. Maybe it was the advent of digital when everyone could produce almost faultless images, maybe it was the loss of my darkroom owing to offspring, I don't know, but I went on to running older cars and then, as costs seemed to increase, re-discovered railway modelling and ditched the cars. Now a member of my local club, I find this hobby a great source of friendship and escape from the stresses of everyday life. Happy New Year to both of you guys and, indeed, all of the modelling fraternity.

    Hit the nail on the there Charlie - content is king! At the end of the video the viewer should feel that they've either learnt something, or they've enjoyed what they've seen. Running sessions usually bore the pants of me, I don't want to see the same locos running round an oval of track for 10 - 15 minutes.

    I enjoyed your interview. I have been a subscriber to Charlie's channel for many months. It's always interesting to see the personal side of media figures. Sharing that aspect of the hobby keeps me motivated to improve. Very refreshing.

    Well Done Richard, being a good interviewer is not an easy thing to pull off, but you made this feel so much like a good old chin wag between mates and let the interviewee have a fair go at speaking. Like many have already stated, Charlie is a true down to earth gentleman, but I submit Sir, that there were in fact two such gentleman at that table. To both of you Happy New Year and may 2020 bring forth exciting times for both channels.

    I came here after watching Chadwick Model Railway and wanting to check out his interview so sorry but I haven't checked your channel out before, very interesting to hear Charlie and I have to say that even though I model DC (old school stuck in the mud) what I like about Charlie's channel is that he doesn't come across as an expert but as an enthusiastic amateur, I hope that's not too rude. Fabulous. 2 of my favourite railway TH-camrs in 1 video. By the way, Richard, I am a trained video professional and often use a mobile phone. Nothing wrong with that. This was the best of these Warley 'head to heads' so far. You two working well together. The point about thumbnails was a good one, especially when looking back through a channels older videos . They are in effect posters to advertise content. I don't think he'll ever get his trains running tbh. Your approach - and a number of others - of getting part of the layout pretty much finished, then gradually working round is a good one. The viewer can see what you are aiming for and in fact watching a model run though a realistic scene and then past glue bottles and screw drivers is quite interesting. Chadwick - and Sandling as well - are never that appealing visually. But Chadwick is excellent for technical ideas/processes. And he - like you - is a nice person to watch, good company!

    As a subscriber to both your Chanel’s, you both do an excellent job. I can tell that with tube beginners or amateurs , there is far too much content of an arm and a hand waving about, or vision of the roof, floor or anything but the content, and often far too much blathering about topics other than the purpose of the video. They lose me instantly. Keep up the great work, & greetings from AUS
