Nice to see Wagon works and the confidence in investing in such an imaginative shop
It really is!
lol.. “mine won’t because I’m filming” more than enough explanation! 😂
😂
Great to see another brick and mortar model shop opening up. It seems new places are opening up all the time at the moment and a real resurgence of people wanting yo visit a model shop not just look online. Shops provide do much more than just buying stock creating a fantastic community of railway modellers and friends. Well done and best wishes to West Hill Wagon works for you new shop and all you do for the hobby. Thank you Richard as always
My pleasure and you're dead right!
Great work with the ballasting, a neverending job, but such an important piece of the puzzle.
Keep up the good work and enjoy model rail Scotland.
Allan
Thanks, will do!
West Hill's layout looks very ambitious. No doubt it will showcase many of their products and give them ideas for new ones. I wish I could afford to visit the UK and have a look for myself. Best of luck with the ballasting. The hamster litter seems to be working nicely.
They have a nice website so you can save on the airfair
I ordered and just received the 'Depot fuel storage tank 00' I have to say for the price the quality is blooming excellent and it's British. Health permitting I will try and visit there shop in the Summer.🚂🚂🚂
Using chinchilli sand as ballast. And West Hill Waggon Works opening a high street shop. Two examples of a hobby that is not dead but evolving. But then that has always been model railways. I was in the hobby 50 years ago we didn't have DCC or 3D printing. Now I'm a old bloke enjoying model railway channels around the world, but mostly UK. My wife loves the cat. Bill from California
LuLu is a dog! :D
Keep up the great work! Always a pleasure watching your videos, and ideas coming to life!
Nice video Richard. Nice work with the ballasting it might take a while but it will be worth wile once done. Nice tour of the West Hill Wagon Works shop. - Nicholas.
Thanks 👍
Just watched this EP24 as my frst visit to the channel. Oh, no, does that mean I have to watch all 23?!! Great delivery, no faffing, clear and concise and useful sped up bits where appropriate. Good lighting, just need a bt of sound-deadening against the garage door. Another inspirational younger person showing how to do it. Much obliged, Richard. Now, where is EP1?
Many thanks!
Great update as ever Richard, always excited when I get a notification regarding NJ
Can you share where the new shop is for WHWW please?
Enjoy your trip Norf of Boarder, and please

We've been doing some ballasting work this week as well. It makes the track look so much better but is certainly a tedious job.
Yeah makes such a difference

Great video Richard, pleased you enjoyed your trip to Southampton. Matt
What trip to Southampton..... 😉 the pleasure was all mine, fantastic time!
Ofcourse lol. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
really liked the west hill wagon works visit, they are a very good company, a pleasure to deal with, your lay out is coming on nicely, your fleet of loco''s and rolling stock both carriages and wagons is amazing, really like the split you have between working on the layout and running trains. regards Ron
Thanks Ron
Used the same stuff you got for ballast and have to say very impressed with it so far.
Great to hear!
Good progress Richard and I must visit West Hill as not far for me either. Great to see this manufacturer adding the shop as our hobby renews itself.
Hope to see you at Model Rail Scotland and more progress on New Junction
Absolutely, looking forward to it!
Amazing stuff Richard, I always look forward to a new video and cheers for some ballasting tips and rust painting on the rails that I can add to my future layout

Great new shop with a working Layout and all the parts for our layouts. Do West Hill Wagons ship to Australia.
I'm not sure, worth asking?
Great video as always and hello Lulu!!
😂 thanks!
Haven’t tried any west hill wagon works products yet but I have always heard good things about them and I do hope to try some in the future, onto the ballasting an overall decent job from the looks of it, keep up the good work.
You should!
Looking good😊
Thank you 😊
Hi Lulu!
Your "ballast" is now on offer at Pets at Home, it's only £4.00 a bag. I picked some up today, girl at the till was most confused when she found out what it was for ! ! ! Dave
Top tip
Not me buying 3 bags of chinchilla sand for ballasting 💀 Amazing find mate
Great stuff, enjoy! 😊
Great video Richard! Will look forward to visiting West Hill Wagon Works at Model Rail Scotland, and also visiting the Accurascale stand, so hopefully see you as well! People said with Warley ending, and Hattons closing, model railways was going downhill. Not a bit of it! BTW Richard, what's the name of the music you used for the section at the West Hill Wagon Works shop, as I might use it in a future video?!
nice video :)
Thanks!
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed
Enjoying how it is coming together.
Love the design and execution as well as the versatility.
I do wonder however whether that whether there should have been another set of points between the two pairs of lines to enable crossing from “slow” to “fast” lines rather than just “up” to “down”?
Looking forward to the next instalment.
G
On the ECML the running lines are next to each other so the points as the are allow fast to slow 😊
@@NewJunction Thank you for the explanation. Must pay more attention. 😁
Good video Richard. About to embark on my first layout myself. Picked up some useful tips going forward from your videos. Accurascale Class 66 looks good, although im interested in how you came by one before i get mine! 😅
Working for them has its perks 😂
It’s certainly coming along nicely, must admit seeing the look of horror on your face in the thumbnail I wondered what had gone wrong. It’s good to see West Hill’s shop open as well, shame it’s a bit far for me.
😂 all part of the fun
Hi Richard the layout coming on the work is exquisite the detail is precise I've followed your channel for year's the layouts you've done where great to watch brings my child hood memories in me out. I would like to start modeling my self. Richard me to be at Model rail Scotland this year. Could you help me with some advice to start modeling am bringing my class 47/001 & my Dmu 105 for maintenance hopefully to see them run to. Keep the good work going👍
See you there!
Well done, Ballasting is the worst job in our Hobby. Looking forward to seeing the finished sections on all the boards. Mike HO Australia
❤ thanks
Amazing Music.
😂 divisive
See you at Glasgow
Great video Richard, it was quite interesting to see the chinchilla sand used, its look more realistic and finescale in my eyes, definitely something I'll be considering for my layout rebuild this year. See you in Glasgow in a few weeks
James
See you then James! 😊
Hiya, in regards to the chinchilla sand, how far can you make a bag go? My layout is roughly 6' x 4' and was wondering if you think i could do it in one bag, sidings and all. Thanks in advance, love seeing your layout come together.
I've done four 16ft lengths and still have a bit left. In essence, two bags for my layout
What day will you be at model rail Scot would love to meet you
Everyday 😂
Good update. I don’t suppose you know where the WHWW helix is from?
They made it themselves
Question... wonder how many new people to this hobby start and stick with 12v DC vs going straight in with DCC 15v? One manufacturer said it was 50:50 like 5+ years ago I was wondering if that has changed over time?
I've no idea, DCC is definitely popular these days
Nice to see you modelling Richard 😊
Thank you kindly
Hi, Interesting video as always, Bit of a random question, where did you your display cases?, I haven't managed to find anywhere to get any yet.
Picture pride cabinets
Thank you.@@NewJunction
Have you ever dabbled in 00/9? I’d love to see that from you.
Just a bit: th-cam.com/video/cvNpcOU7R6s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=75uZ5VaXdeNL-un9
Hello Richard is that a Hattons class 66 or differant manufacturer?
Accurascale one 😊
Are you at Glasgow all weekend?
Yes
My issue is how do you keep the dust off everything esp the buildings and trees?
Dust with clean paint brushes 😁
Oit! Get back to ballasting! Stop slacking Richard 😜
what track have you used peco? code 75 or 100?
Code 75
Where is West Hill wagon works shop
3b New Line Rd, Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottingham NG17 8JQ
Why is the track so close to the edge of the board
Ideas too big for the base boards
I wish you would turn the music down or preferably off!
Noted!
Good video dreadful music!!!!! Why oh why do we always have to have crap music
😅 it's copyright free
Love your videos but the music was a little off-putting in this one for me
Noted!
Im sorry to say that ballasting look rubbish gap under the sleeepers etc
Work in progress, that said it may still look rubbish! 😅
