- I helped create this ad for Audible’s new adaptation of George Orwell’s “1984”.
It’s the result of a collaboration between Territory Studio, director James Medcraft, and Alphabetical Studio. Alphabetical found my work online and thought I would be a good fit as a Key Artist for the project. We re-imagined the novel’s “telescreen” devices as all-watching bubble domes, worked with real cathode ray tube monitors and portable TVs, and brought them into the world of Big Brother.
It was an absolute honor to work with such talented and professional creative people. They were very generous with their support and trust. Each day on the project, I felt like I was learning from the best.
The audio-drama adaptation of “1984” features the voice talent of Andrew Garfield,Cynthia Erivo, Andrew Scott, and Tom Hardy. It has a musical score by Matthew Bellamy and Ilan Eshkeri.

I can’t be the only one who thinks this goes extremely hard
It does. I keep rewatching it
I can't be the only one who thinks the best actor was the rat
i just sent this to my friend who i literally just recommended read 1984 yesterday, saw this trailer as an ad today and had to look it up to send to him because it got me hooked and i immediately want to read the book again
No you’re very on point
shits rad
First time I saw this, I genuinely thought it was a trailer for a new movie adaptation.
That would also be great with all the same music and actors!
The audio play is sooo good - I wish it was longer!
@@LintonSamuelDawson The same reaction here too!
Sammmeee. I was so bummed.
I never skip this ad. I’ve been conditioned to turn my head at the screen when I hear the static. This legit gives me the freakiest feeling of euphoria, it goes so hard.
LITERALLY same here
This is genuinely the first ad I did not skip. Tom Hardy & Andrew Garfield in 1984 just goes hard man.
I just listened to the whole thing today, and honestly it SHOOK me. I'm literally attempting to write a paper about it all, and I'm not even in school. If you're really into good story podcasts and good sound design, give it a go. So worth it.
Same!!! Are there any others that you recommend?
@@annastacia2593 one story podcast I always go back to is "The Edge Of Sleep." Also "The Left Right Game" is good. The first season of "Blackout" was decent, but that was my least favorite. All of those are on Spotify. I'm not sure of any other audiobooks on Audible, though.
@@greenwitch4204 thank you very much! I’ll check them out soon!
@@annastacia2593 no problem. Honestly, I find it kinda hard to get into story podcasts. Most of the time it's just not enough balance between narrating, dialogue, and some form of imaginative execution. I think Edge Of Sleep and this version of 1984 does it best, but that's just my opinion.
@@greenwitch4204 I feel the same way, I prefer good storytelling with meat to it (if that makes sense lol) but I was so blown away with this version of 1984 like you I had to do a paper on it, even if it’s for my eyes only, and when I saw your comment mirroring my thoughts exactly I reached out for recommendations (i really appreciate you taking the time! Thank you again!) my mind is completely blank right now on what I recommend as I’ve been hate-reading garbage as of late. Which is on purpose, sometimes it’s nice to reset the brain by reading a little bit of absolute garbage once in a while.
Tom Hardy has a great voice as Big Brother.
This trailer was extremely good, and was somewhat disappointed it was not for a series!
I agree! I would love a series!
'TV series ' . Buddy are you going to collect 1984 funko toys now or is it going to finally sink into you that you are living in 1984? This is called predictive programming.
The irony of this comment cannot be overstated 🤣
@paintingvalues watching tv shows is literally 1984 now, lord...
@@raulpetrascu2696 they told you what would happen. But wad that consent? I don't think so.
GIVE US A NEW MOVIE ADAPTATION WITH THESE ACTORS PLEASE BRO PLEASE!
IMO this is the best ad ever
For nice, I would like an adaptation of 1984 that explains/explores the Party’s backstory and rise to power.
"I told you to not let this happen. You had ONE job." -george Orwell in his last interview
This is amazing, i wish there was a 1984 series
I really hope they release the shorter versions of this ad too. It's the only ad I enjoy watching.
You mean the LONGER version - that’s what I want.
I wish this was a movie
There is a movie about this book.
@@thomasdignan5940 I know it’s just I want this version of the book the audible trailer to be a movie
Ok.
Love the music! Gives a resident evil vibe
Yeah that’s Matt Bellamy of Muse. Insane composer who did a whole album that was basically 1984 the musical called “The Resistance”
Dude I’m getting cod black ops 1 vibes from this
This is one ad I approve of!
I have sat though the entire thing. Its really good.
Matt Bellamy from Muse ❤
This is the best. Your style is always impeccable but this is next level.
It helps to work with a team of experienced professionals! Thanks!
@@ellingsonTVplease do a whole series of this!
can they please release the soundtrack…. it sounds so eerie ❤
They have, it was done by Matt Bellamy, you can preorder a vinyl for it
Woohoo! Cant wait!
Beautiful! this is perfection!
This is a real good adaptation, with the atmosphere and the music. I was slightly disappointed with Andrew Scott unfortunately because I think he's usually great and initially he was, but once he got into MiniLuv he became too openly gleeful and sadistic. When I read the book at school and since then I'd always pictured him as a dispassionate school teacher type, calmly explaining the situation to Winston in an almost regretful tone whilst also assuring him that no, there is no escape and the Party will succeed. Richard Burton did it brilliantly.
I believe that just comes down to interpretation
@chrisanderson2056 Oh yes of course - same with any piece of drama.
Doubleplus good
Clever
I can’t stop watching this
Yeah that’s Muse for sure on the music lol. I recognize that synth anywhere
Feels like an appropriate time to bring back Orwell's classic dystopia. We could all use a reminder of the horrors of communism.
Nice
Stunning
Audoble dolby verson is perhaps the closest to cinematic masterpiece i have heard
Yay I get to enjoy the book for a 3rd time
Brilliant!
nice work. good for you dude
We need an actual movie that tells the book the way it is. We have the technology today to make it look beautiful like how the book perpetuated the future to look like.
Double ++ good comrades!
I love Big Brother
You lack of punctuation shows your lack of love of our Glorious, Magnificent Big Brother. Our Officers of Truth will be meeting you shortly.
@@ratave6472 Double plus good, comrade Brother. You are indeed correct. I can only hope that the Officers of Truth can show me the way. My allegiance to the Party, and to Big Brother will never waiver. 2+2=5.
I thought it was a movie darn
As the 45th comment I say we need to start a petition to make this a movie
1989 will return
freedom is 2+2=4. can you hear the music?
Predictive programming.
You MUST reject Digital ID!
bravo!
The please do the whole story like this
Movie material
Hopefully they are just reading the book and not just making up a new story based on the book
cool
Where is Taboo season 2 goddamnit!
Really good question!
0:24 why are they still using M4A4 Sherman’s
The rat is FOUL lmao
Is that tom hardy
Yes, he’s great
Shouldn't it be: Ignorance Is Freedom.
Big brother house. this is divina Your live on channel 4 please do not swear
how much did they edit out the book i just don't trust current era 'hollywood' people with this type of book in particular how much is missing?
this isnt a show or movie, its just the book read aloud its an audible add
@@etnoballium4516 I know but is it changed they have a habit of taking things out and from one of the reviews ive read its heavily altered so iguess that answers my question.
It’s an audiobook dog
I don't trust a 2024 mainstream adaptation to be fully accurate to the book. Change a single word and you've officially missed the point of everything Orwell was trying to say. 1984 is perhaps my favorite novel and the Robert Mueller audiobook is the best.
Give a listen and see what you think
I hate the book. I think it’s pretentious. I love Andrew though.
Coming to shame the woke.
This was Amazing, and they sure knew who to contact for expertise and gear. Your Demo Reel just got a bit more illustrious
