- During dinner, "the system" feeds the few who consume all the resources while the rest survive on scraps. Inevitably, the struggle for what remains leads to catastrophic change. The offspring of this transition turns out not to be a sign of hope, but the spitting image of the parents.

Pigs aren't just Politicians though, it also symbolises many other powerful Elites like Owners of big business corporations, and the War Lords (high ranking military officers), even the powerful ones in the Legal structures.

@@caetano9567 no, this is still system. Human nature is adaptation to new conditions. Conditions of capitalism as we saw for the last 150 years lead to the corruption of society, economic system and human nature. In great depression farmer threw away food only to sell it for higher price.

Okay the fact that it all took place inside a dinky little 2 story hotel scares me, because the damage from the previous incident is still present in the room leaving it unsalvageable, and if the short film is an analogy to society then the hotel is an analogy to the WORLD, and this implies we can only mess up and repeat the cycle so many times before we exhaust all resources until there’s nothing left and the planet will be practically uninhabitable.

And lastly, the island is eroding away. By the time all resources will vanish, the entire hotel will fall off
and they are on a cliff face but too busy with their pettiness to even realize when all they had to do was look, especially towards the end.
This short works well on so many levels
It's an endless vicious circle. The society has made it its duty to feed the politicians, bureaucrats and the rich who are insatiable and chained by their ambitions.

I like how when a single cat looks under the table and discovers the snake which bound all the pigs together, how it was taken from the masses and never seen again. This speaks about how individuals on their own, like whistleblowers (Asange), cannot change a corrupt system unless all the people notice it too and rise up.

I love the metaphor of how the meek and begging cats, representing the common folk, turn into a powerful tiger when their efforts are united. We truly are stronger together, and we are slain when we allow ourselves to be divided again.

@@madhavsharma6643 I would say it symbolizes the consequences they carelessly lock themselves into. Like for example, large companies getting big profits in the short run but causing horrific natural disasters that will affect them too with the planet's changing atmosphere, and how they won't be able to escape the consequences of their actions forever. Just like when the cats turned into the tiger they tried to escape but couldn't due to the chains they ignored under the table wrapping tighter and tighter around their legs the whole time. If they were more aware of their surroundings instead of solely focused on getting what they want now, they might have noticed the chains while they were still lose and get out of them.
And they turned on the new pigs!
The fake mice represents them putting distractions for the common people so thay they don't know whats actually going on
The one meatball and the cats fighting over it represents how they can put out stuff so that the cats get more and more divided

@@Okarabouzouklis Yes! I think all of those are spot on too. I believe the tiger dying is supposed to represent when the common folk become too complacent/relaxed again and are allowed to be divided. Like when politicians push a 'us vs them' narrative. We can't be the tiger unless we are all together, so as long as one of us is excluded we remain cats.
Excellent short film! One thing that struck me...the wind up mouse toy used to distract the cats. It happens regularly......regular "hot news topics" purposely used as distractions. The ppl only transform into the tiger when hungry enough to ignore the distractions but we need to start seeing them for what they are, far before we reach the point of desperation. Excellent message!

We should start seeing even if people "transform into the tiger", people usually target the riches, which are just a bunch of foolish scapegoats, while the true villain is hiding behind safely.
But even the tiger is not the solution in that it only gives birth to a new cycle of greed and corruption.

@@LQABP I gotcha. The pigs represent politicians which are being fed resources (food) to aid their campaign. The resources come from the room (Nature) whilst the government (Cook) keeps feeding them, not caring for the people. (Cats) A politician distracts the kittens (Mouse) so he can eat in peace. However, corruption (chains) doesn't let them leave, making them succumb to the tiger (Revolution).
Everything was said without a single spoken word. Masterpiece...

Someone already pointed this out, but at 9:07, there's one minor detail: when the lightning struck for a brief moment, the sign's title transformed from "Hotel" to "Hell".

To coincide with this, notice there are nine hotel rooms, much like there are nine levels/circles of Hell, and judging by the way they moved across, they must also move down, deeper into Hell.

This video is the sole reason why I'm backing off of youtube and media outlets in general. I often go on this website to escape the harsh reality of having to work slave wages. After 15 years, I've learned the hard way that distracting myself from this issue only makes it worse. Thank you to the people who interpreted the animation very well in the comments. I would like to add that at the end of the animation, 'hotel' is written on the building. To me, this represents the world where we are not permanent, where we are our home that we will one day leave.

You are right. It happened in my real life.I and my family had owned a sweet home where I was born and raised. We were a very happy family. But few years ago a sudden incident made my whole family homeless and had to sell my sweet home. After strugglling several years, we build a new home but another incident disappointed us. Still now we can not put the foot to our own home. Nothing is permanent in this world.
The kittens of the revolutionaries of old get indoctrinated into refueling the machine, and the pigs eat yet again.
We leave no world behind; it was never yours to begin with. We only leave behind the chains that bind.
not only a temporary world, but on the edge of an ever crumbling cliff in a storm as well.
After all , there is another life which will be permanent and it's up to everyone to choose how that life will be.
Believe in God and do good things in the Hotel so the heaven is for you.
Otherwise you will wish that's you never been created once you go to Hell .

Honestly, I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed the video as much as I did if it weren’t for the comment explaining the symbolism.
I've seen this video in shorts. As expected, the full version feels more meaningful. I admired their expression throughout the video, and after watching it, it was very interesting to comprehensively interpret the comments. Thank you for the good video :)
This is amazing. It’s so deep. Here are some things I think should be pointed out.
1. The pigs were created from the cats.
2. The cat that saw the snake/chain was separated from the other cats.
3. The pigs destroyed the building gradually by eating little bits of it.
4. When the cats became too hungry, they became one in a tiger and ate the pigs.
5. The cook killed the tiger & separated the cats when it was asleep.
6. The cats were satisfied with the crumbles they were fed until there was no food left.

I think it’s also worth paying attention to how, at the beginning of the film and at the end, pieces fall ominously from the cliff next to which the house stands. If the rooms are countries, and the hotel is the entire ecosystem of the earth, then the slowly but surely collapsing rock is world's fate, that, even before the world-eaters devour the entire earth, will literally throw our world into the abyss.

It political not geopolitical. It's about one single nation and I believe the rooms are different generations of a society, the house being the nation, while the rocks falling into the sea represent the erosion/degeneration of the foundations/pillars of democracy, risking to make the house/nation to fall underwater, a risk amplified by fact that it has been built on unsafe foundation/place which may stand for the climate crisis we don't see due to being focused on what happens inside the house.
What I don't understand is why the floors ?
Do they represent the 3 categories of nations (1st-3rd world), meaning that democratic revolutions occur in 1st world nations first ?
Hold up, the rocks falling and the wrong hill/cliff upon which the house has been built can't be about climate crisis. The sea waves could be the climate crisis, due to the implied slow erosion of the coastline itself, and climate crisis isn't that important in politics yet (nobody gives a shit about it in politics tbh, only people and NGOs cares about it).
That hill is the perfect representation of the financial bubble (boom & bust/cliff & underwater), while the rocks falling is inflation of national currency aka the erosion of nation/people's wealth, which is very profitable for who has access to cheap currency loans that devalues itself (I use this strategy in crypto). Investors & entepreneurs love inflation if they're pros, while working class pay the price for both, due to lack of financial education (not knowing that you must store gold/BTC and borrow currency, etc) & elite's greed (they know the collateral effects/"unintended" consequences of this).
I believe the meaning of those details is: "We're in a bubble, the bubble is about to bust and we built our nations in/on the wrong place/hill/monetary, financial & economical premises (fractional reserve banking & modern monetary theory), ignoring safety policies required to not end up with the nation underwater due to the laws of nature /thermodynamics/quantum physics (same laws apply to finance & economy also, even if "serious" economists don't know it)".

I love the symbolism behind especially the tiger part, the cats representing us and the tiger representing that if we band together we are stronger bigger and its only few of them and more of us. We the people have the power. together we are a tiger but apart we are just sleepy clueless cats.

While the cats (majority) and pigs (world political powers) are in this vicious cycle due to political greed, the very cliff that the hotel sits on is collapsing. This is why I am forever grateful for English Literature class in grade school. I hated the books we read, but I grew to love them for the truth that they poured into us. Books like Lord of the Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, and even Bud not Buddy. It was a true eye opener, but an inspiration, almost a path to create a change. This is like a treat for me now as an adult. I was already remembering Animal Farm and this is a deep breakdown of that book. I was 11-15 reading those books, then some Shakespeare. I guess the American Public School System didn't really fail us entirely.

The immediate needs are being neglected in too many areas for children to enjoy education at all. I think this love for education I have now have always been alive, never present in the schools.

i forgot to say this yesterday but the character of the cook interests me a lot. at around 7:30 the music turns sweet, we are supposed to see him saving the kittens from the tiger’s belly as a beautiful thing, and i suppose in a way it is. he is the only person continuing the cycle and ensuring society survives by letting the kittens into a brand new room ready to be served endless dinner. he exists to serve, he remains untouched, he continues working as a slave but he survives successfully. a parasite, one we need to live.
i also wonder how and at what point the snake chain is born; is it there since the beginning, waiting patiently under the table for people to sit? does someone bring it in? the cook, perhaps?

I talk to my parnts sometimes about it, well war was always there and the fear of losing a family member was immanent .We have more advantages rn like the internet and stuff and kinda more freedom. But we are somehow chained, there’s no real law but only corruption, according to my parents life in 70s-80s was much better from that point.
And about the STEM fields, people (regardless of gender)mostly choose a STEM career bc firstly of the society and family pressure, secondly there are no jobs even for pharmacist,dentists and architecture (another reason why life sucks here lol) so as long as you have a chance to be a doctor just do it 😀

The thumbnail reminds me of the last scene from the book animal farm. The scene shows how the pigs have took over a farm in a tyrannical way and at last the pigs try to be like humans and behave like them. This animation is so symbolic to modern politicians and corruptions of our nations. The end parts when they open the ballet to pull out the utensils gave me chill!

@Bubble Bobble All the pigs represent capitalist, thats the traditional way they protrayed capitalists and industrialists in cartoon. The cats are working class proletarians who receive scraps from the labor they produce for the capitalists.
The mouse is what you are chasing at "Democrat", "LGBT", they are all distractions from your true enemy the pig which are the big capitalist.

The water taking them out could symbolize the end of the world,and if it doesn't take them out first, the building would repair itself(like nature does when left alone) and the cycle would continue again

Most of the characters and their surroundings are quite obvious in their representations. But to me, that cook/server represents Human Ignorance as he continues to engage in mindless consumption and contributes to the decaying and the destruction of their own earthly Home.
The Mouse is the many distractions that lure those cats away from the main issues, and seeking/facing the truths.

I watched this numerous times to take in as much of the details in the story as i could. I found it useful to look with care at the little things in the story. On a dark stormy night, in the upper dining room of a hotel is a table covered in an array of food, being served to anthropomorphic pigs. The 6 pigs are dressed in various costumes :The Pig wearing the Judge's "peruke" or courtroom wig, representing the impartiality of the court that has no personal agenda in its proceedings. The Pig dressed in the ornate vestments of clergy, who sits at the left hand of the Judge pig. The 2 top hat wearing pigs, one sits at the opposite end of the table from the Judge pig. His necktie is blue, the other top hat pig sits at the right hand of the judge pig, his tie is red. Between the 2 top hat pigs sits a hatless pig with a tuxedo, a mustache and ostentatious jewelry on his hands. On the other side of the table next to the clergy garments pig is another hatless pig, the only one to wear glasses, he also has a mustache and goatee and wears a fashionable ensemble of green shirt and jacket with matching trim. He is one of those at the table who offers scraps to the scrawny cats (whose voices are plaintive and loud throughout the dinner.) The cats are black and white, and they fight among themselves for food on the floor, that which has fallen by accident and that small amount which is given by the pigs. One black cat has pursued a fallen meatball under the long tablecloth and sees clearly that all the pigs are caught by their legs with heavy chains that squeeze them, one serpent-like chain has a padlock for a head and spots the amazed cat, who is then seized by the chain and disappears under the cloth, his fellow cats don't notice.
Dinner is served by one man who is big and strong, he feeds everything in the room and finally the room itself into the hopper of a big steel machine that expels black smoke like a factory and transforms it all into plates of food for the pigs, the strong man never eats, nor speaks, and doesn't feed the cats directly, he is naked to the waist and gradually goes to more dire lengths in order to provide food, the chandelier having been consumed, light is provided by candles, in this darker room the cats become increasingly agitated and vocal, gathering around the judge pig's chair, in frustration, he waves them away towards the fashionably dressed pig, who uses a wind up toy mouse that leads them away from the table temporarily. The man shrugs as he holds an empty plate from the machine once all the food is gone and the pigs have begun to hit the table, as in a tantrum, clamoring for more to consume. The pigs begin to devour the plates themselves and the cats leap up onto the table, transformed into a huge black and white tiger who lunges and devours the judge pig, throws his decapitated head on the table before consuming the other pigs, who try and fail to escape the hidden chains that hold them fast. With all the pigs killed and eaten, the tiger lies down on the table to sleep, while the working man emerges from behind his machine with a large knife which he uses to quickly kill the tiger, after listening to the tiger's belly, he cuts its body open to extract black and white kittens, which he tenderly gathers in a top hat and carries into a new dining room, he switches on the light in the empty room and the kittens scurry out of the hat. We see their shadows on the wall as they're transformed into the same 6 pigs who sat at the last dining table, one of the black top hatted pigs ceremoniously distributes knives and forks to his fellow pigs from what appears to be a ballot box. And the cycle begins again, as our view is drawn outside into the stormy night we see the hotel with a demolished room in the corner, outside the storm rages on, and rain falls into a turbulent ocean that crashes against the crumbling cliff upon which the hotel sits. For now...

Could you explain how this ‘situation’ could change? Here in western Europe every average human being has every opportunity to explore the ways in wich people can stand with principles and lead an active and healthy live surrounded with family/friends. If it were up to me than the pigs in this vid were to symbolize the western world citizans and the cats would be the rest of the world.
@@Victor-07-04 Do not generalize entire countries like that... I mean I could say the same about the rest of the world as Im based in South Africa but its wrong to do so. We all have good and bad people in our countries and we can all interoperate this great work as we see fit but to me this piece of art is about bad leaders that do nothing but abuse the nations and the people within by only ever thinking of how deep they can make their pockets while the rest of us (the cats) scrounge and beg for scraps until we get P.offed enough to unleash our fury and devour them as the tiger did ...If we keep choosing bad people to lead the cycle just starts over ....... Again we are all entitled to our own personal translation... There are good leaders and people out there .
