And two, the comic fans who have known these characters for a very long time and built a lot of identification over the years. Unluckily for group two, it's the other group those movies are primarily made for, just because it is so much bigger. I'm part of group two and what bothers me about the racism argument, is this: I'm a huge fan of comic characters like Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage or nowadays Miles Morales and Ms. Marvel. And I'd probably go ballistic if anyone would make a movie with those heroes casting them with white actors/actresses in the process, because it just makes no narrative sense whatsoever because all those characters come with a lot of cultural history that formed them. But the same is true with white super-heroes, and to hold the same standard to already established white characters has nothing to do with racism. It's just expecting the film-makers to respect the sources.

Barbara Gordon is one of my favourite comic book characters of all time and I’m excited about this casting. She’ll have the red hair, so what if she doesn’t have the blue eyes? Neither does most of the main trinity characters. The casting for Aquaman and the Flash also don’t really look like their comic versions, because it’s how the character acts that matters. Was i disappointed with BoP and how Black Canary and Helena were written, yes. However, if the writer’s can convey Barbara’s genius and kindness in the movie, then great, that’s what matters most.

I come from Glasgow and was excited to hear this project was filmed there. Incredible location and the right look for the DC universe. Saddened that we won’t get to see Leslie as Batgirl. Hope someone leaks footage just so we get to see her. Fingers crossed this isn’t the end of her caped crusader career. Perhaps she will be involved in other projects 🤞
