Head mod is the most important single thing you can do on a 490. Changing squish band and rejetting makes it run clean down low. Glad you guys know the specs.

@@Jasonracer That is really interesting that the Chinese carbs work with the OEM Keihin jets. I have 5 bikes I want to put 38mm AS carbs on but at $600 each I was fighting the urge lol

@@blanchard899 I have one on all my 500's. It's especially handy on the 480 with a left hand kick start! I think one of the biggest advantages of them is protecting the cases by taking a heap of the load off the kick start area

Nice work mate, I've got the 87 T 490,been wondering about the head mod.

It has been done on my 87 Darren. It is a 'must do' on the 490's

@@garage299 okay, I'll look into it a bit more, I'm only up the highway. I've got USD forks and a full DG exhaust, but I like the GMC pipe you're running.

@jasonracer hey mate I’m here from the swag video (I can’t seem to comment) I’ve went out and bought most of what I can to make the anti-sag supports!
I’m just wondering if you could share the measurements for the flex pipes that worked best for you? Im also struggling a bit to get a good way to connect the two in the middle 100% (I’m no handy man lol) cheers mate

A bit of electrical tape around your joiner piece and leave the other one bare so you can slide it out. I just measured mine up against the two end ones and trim it to your liking

What did you use as the male connection bit in the middle if I may also ask! I tried looking around but couldn’t find anything that fitted inside.. grrr

Hi Jason, I spoke to Chris today top organise jets for the Air Striker conversion on my 490 (going to get him on to my KX500 engine also), how did you do to absord the 15mm (ish) reduction in carb length? I can see on you other video that you have some sort of extension/adapter at the air boot/carb junction but I can't see enough to work it out. Thanks mate
