Nice🥰 I have a 21 model with stage one and Vance and Hines big radius. Almost the same as yours and also have the screaming eagle air filter. I went chrome pipes and filter box. Also have the same sissy and rack. Nice taste brother. I’ve got 28,000 on mine now and faultless mechanically. 😎👍

Head mod is the most important single thing you can do on a 490. Changing squish band and rejetting makes it run clean down low. Glad you guys know the specs.

I have been looking at purchasing this bike. I think when the bags and fairing are off it is one of the best looking m8s. The front end looks great and a pity the windscreen covers it.

Will need to make one.. 3metre 25mm water pipe. Two 19mm T piece joiners 1x19mm 150mm joiner Cut 4x 13.5cm lengths off of the 3metre pipe. Cut whats left in half Join legs and T piece together and DONE. Thanks mate, i made one for my double swag ive had since 2010. Works perfect. Cheers 🍻. Packs up inside the swag too. Lovely bike mate. I'm in NZ. '04 KX500 low hour and '01 CR500R in the shed zero hours. Not impressed with you starting it wearing flip flops. I started my KX500 wearing my Nikes and it kicked back and tore my calf muscle apart, along the length of it. 2 days in Hospital. 24 stitches. i wasn't wearing shorts but a long pair of training pants.

Have had mine since 2018....tried all the HDs.... nothing came close....the best of both worlds....cruiser and tourer.....very nimble yet powerful...... comfortable.....a bit of a chopper look which i love and yet with all the layest tech.....just a smart choice

Thanks for your idea and video. A good cheap fix... My swag is a DUNE but the problem is the same... it's a pity the manufacturers didn't put a bit more effort into sorting it out.

Could you add a link for the poly pipe purchased? Looks like a great idea that I would like to try out. Could you also do a quick tutorial on making the ends and middle part of the hoop?

Mate that is beautiful. Im looking to buy one atm, 1 is a 1984 yz 490 and the other an 86 model id prefer the later but both are mint.

I’m just wondering if you could share the measurements for the flex pipes that worked best for you? Im also struggling a bit to get a good way to connect the two in the middle 100% (I’m no handy man lol) cheers mate

That's a beautiful bike! I'm 99% sure my next bike will be a Harley and my heart tells me to get a Fatboy, but my head says the Sport Glide will give me the same level of pride and pleasure, but with more flexibility and usability. They're expensive of course, but you get so much bike for your money! Congratulations on a great choice. Ride safe and be well brother.

Sick build cobber 👍, sounds absolutely beautiful. I’ve been riding since I was 9, I’m nearly 48 now. & I never came across one of these beauty’s. My neighbour had a yz 80 87, & his brother had a yz 125 88. We used to cane those bikes, & they never let us down. Great bikes, but this beast here is on another level. This “ thing “ would be horrifically fast, it even sort of look’s evil. Top job sir 👍. I ridden so many bikes before, but I’d love to take one of these babies for a little spin.

Hi Jason, I spoke to Chris today top organise jets for the Air Striker conversion on my 490 (going to get him on to my KX500 engine also), how did you do to absord the 15mm (ish) reduction in carb length? I can see on you other video that you have some sort of extension/adapter at the air boot/carb junction but I can't see enough to work it out. Thanks mate

I had one of those when they first came out. Just plain stock it was a monster....a scray monster ,almost killed myself a few times way to much power just goose it a little and you will eat the hande bar.. All I can say is you better know how to ride before you take on a beast like this.. Nice bike
