The round black button (in the #5 position) on the main screen is the shutdown button. The octagon button with the "R" in it is the startup or restart button.
Yeah, I will add that to the next video, but the difference is the engine does not startup fully in sequence. When you use the startup button, it does the Background sounds, then spin up sounds, then headlight, the marker lights, the Cab light, the smoke unit. The Reset button only starts up background sounds. You have to then hit something else, like the whistle to get everything else to startup. So, I like the Startup button myself, but you are correct both will work.
Thank you so much for a thorough, well organized presentation of the Cab 3 essentials in an understandable and repeatable way . I came into the hobby after Cab 1 and my current Cab 2 remote is on its last legs . I'm now able to use my smart phone and not have to find an after market Cab 2 remote for huge $$$
The Cab2 does work perfectly with the Base3. So right now, the app has some bugs in it and people are returning the base 3. If you find a cheap Cab2 remote or buy the CAB1L everything works perfect. It will take some time to get the app straightened out.
Hey Sean, there is a shut down button on the main eng. screen. Its the circle button just below the Tower com button. To start, i been hitting RPM up or horn even will start it. You do have to hit eng again if you want the extended version.
Actually, the Reset will startup background sounds with a single tap, but not lighting, spin up sounds, etc. So, I prefer the Startup/Shutdown buttons.
I have noticed that if you replace the default manifest loco pics with custom pics it causes the locomotive to stall or stay in neutral. I HIGHLY recommend staying away from using the camera option unless there is a work around. I had to go to my app on my tablet and delete the cache to return the app to default. to fix this.
Never saw anything like that. I have custom pictures on all my engines, Accessories and even Switches. Are you running iOS or Android? Could be your tablet, especially if it's an Android based one.
Sean Thanks for all the great videos you got me up and running, without you it would've been allot more difficult. At some point could you do a video on how to change the bell and whistle tones on the base3 side of the app? I've tried what Lionel says to do without success.
We just watched part 3. Very informative. Yesterday all was working fine with the app. Today the reverse forward button isn't working. I'm trying to figure out how we managed to screw that up ...lol.
I tried to trigger the n&w class a safety valves by holding down auxiliary 3 but that triggered the action record. How do I trigger the safety valves instead?
great work sean. hey when you are done building the train/mu lashup. try retaking the engine photo. put both engines in the photo to be taken exactly how you want them and then take the photo. see how that works as far as an actual depiction in the engine screen in the train menu screen. then address each loco individually and see if the original engine photos are still in the engine description box for each individual loco. so engine menu, photo of single loco. train, menu both locos photographed the way the lashup you want looks. hope you understand me here.let us all know if this works please and thank you. hopefully it does that would be great if lionel set it up that way.
I think I would recommend all photos be taken in the default direction that Lionel puts its images. While it will probably still replace the image, at least starting out they match what Lionel has as default. Lionel’s default are traveling to the right. Of course as Sean pointed out if you know your doing a train you can take them accordingly. I imagine the app could flip the photo if made that way but then all the text would be backwards. Not sure if that would upset people.
I got the previous issue worked out. But there is some kind of glitch with train building. I had three lash-ups, all running correctly. I added a fourth loco to one of the three loco lash-ups (this loco came from another already existing 2 loco lashup), it all worked fine. I removed the forth loco from the lashup, and updated. But this operation affected the operation of the existing 2-loco lashup. It won't run as a lash up, but each loco will run separately as a single engine on the engine side. I completely cleared out the two loco lashup, confirmed it was gone from the train building roster. But when I tried to build a "new" two loco lash up using the same two locos, they do not appear as available engines in train configuration. I have tried powering everything down, rebooting, taking locos off the track. None of that had any effect. It's like the original 2 loco lash-up is still stuck inside Base 3, even though I cleared it. Any idea?
It is used when you have a Legacy Super Bass Unit in a train that has a TMCC unit as the Head/Lead unit. It allows the Legacy Super Bass sounds to function even though the lead unit is a TMCC engine. Legacy and TMCC engines can't work in the same train by default since they have different speed steps. You have to set the Legacy engine to TMCC mode and then other TMCC engines can be in the same train. But with Super Bass units you can have them with TMCC engines in a train if you use Hybrid mode.
Ok what of if I have multiple tracks. I have 3 tracks how would you wire your track signal wire to U terminal? Would you use 3 separate wires going to each track or daisy chain them from one track to the other track
It would also depend on if they all come from the same transformer. If they are all powered by the same transformer, and the transformer commons are connected internally then only 1 connection to the transformer common is needed.
Well, if on same transformer, only one wire is needed. And if multiple transformers, they should be phased properly anyway (negative to negative). So as long as you have the transformers phased, you still only need a single wire to an outside rail. Actually, the neutral of your entire house acts as a conductor. I actually have trains on powered shelves across the room (with no physical wires connecting them) powered by a separate PowerHouse. I’m able to turn them on, make them smoke, and control bells and whistles from my Legacy controller! Yes, I could move them as well, but they can only go a few inches in each direction, and that’s a dangerous action that I don’t attempt. 😂
So far, I can't get my legacy locos to connect on the Base 3 side. Followed all of the settings, correctly. But when the time comes to start up, nothing happens.......
Hi! Sean, this is a great video series! You should be paid by Lionel for these videos. I don't think I will be buying the Base 3 system right away. I just hope they make the new Cab3 app compatible with the Base 2 eventually. Do you know if Lionel intends to do this? Thanks! Brad Adams.
I’m not sure the picture going away in switching directions is a bug. I think it has to default to the representative image to show the change in operating direction. Another great video. Can I suggest adding chapter though to make accessing specific topics easier?
@MartyE so that seems logical. question can you still take a photo of the lashup in the train builder screen? if so then when you are looking for that lashup the picture would help you remember how you have it built. now I just put labels on the underneath side of the engines to tell direction and train builder/lashup number.
@@rogerglasgo4902 personally I wouldn't mind if Left to Right was the default and the app would reverse the picture in Train Builder. Sure if would be mirrored but at least you'd get a feel for direction. I guess if you knew it would be in a MU and which direction you could shoot the picture correctly for in a MU. Great thing is with an App that can be addressed in a future rev.
@@seanstraindepot Hi Sean, I tried but it didn't stay to that #, so I set #40 for my Vision line 4012 big boy. Then I went back to address it and typed 4012 and hit "enter" but it didn't stay.
