Nice review. RMT makes some good stuff. I think that they are a good step above Menard’s, really and just as good, if not better than the MTH and Lionel offerings at a much more reasonable price. All the people who I know in the O gauge hobby always look at them as the company that produces those stubby ‘Beeps’ and other small trains and don’t realize that they produce a real nice line of scale O gauge equipment. The boxcars are sharp and well detailed, for sure. Those ore Jennies would look great in DM&IR livery. I’m looking forward to York and hope to run into you sometime during the show. An excellent video, as always.
I had an RMT Chicago & Northwestern powered RDC. I got this in the 90's but it was dual-motored, interior lighted, directional-lighted, and very detailed. It was a very good puller and i was very impressed with the quality.
Great vid Sean! Thank you for your time and effort. I never heard of RMT... I'm sold... this Guy from RMT deserves our business.👍 It will have to be a pretty special Lionel car with my collected road name or forget it. Lionel has priced themselves out of reach for a lot of people. I love your unbiased opinions.... not seeing too much of that lately. Congrats on your vid.😁
Great review Sean! I've purchased a number of RMT products over the years (Six Beep diesels! Don't ask, it just happened!) and have never been disappointed in any of them. They've always been great value for the money spent. A couple of observations: The residue on the cars might be paste wax applied to give a little gloss to the product OR possibly a mold release agent off the plastic clamshells. In either case it's not worth worrying about. I agree 100% on the sprung versus un-sprung trucks. The springs don't do anything, why put 'em on and add to the expense? Maybe it was the lighting or the camera angles but the RMT boxcar looked ever-so-slightly smaller than the Lionel one. No big deal as fas as I'm concerned. Oh, the problem RMT cars were hopper cars produced last year, the wheels were out of gauge and wouldn't track properly. RMT stood behind the product and corrected the issue. RMT's a righteous outfit! Hey, I'll be going to York myself and hopefully our courses will cross! Thanks for posting!
RMT is about the same equivalent as Menards or a Railking, Lioncheif. Nice to see them making O scale. 10yrs ago it was O27 scale. Not bad, Good Stuff.
Thanks for the review! I was eyeing these up. The Wheeling Lake Erie look great! Actually Lionel has replaced some shells on Polar Express items that weren't matching in paint so I really think it depends on the product and if there was enough complaints.
We got one of their ore cars with the defective trucks and wound up returning it. It seemed quite nice. The new boxcars look even better. I’ll have to give them a try again.
Yeah, these are supposed to be redesigned ones, so hopefully no issues, although it's certainly possible there are some duds here and there like everything else.
Great review Sean! Out of curiosity, did you compare the weight of each RMT car to a Lionel or MTH? If so, are they close to NMRA standards? Great looking cars. Glad you did this video!
Follow up: Came across Mr. Muffin’s Soo Line custom run, and ordered two. Arrived today, and I’m quite pleased. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I expanded the Soo Line car image on Muffin’s website and saw the dates on the Soo Lock 100th anniversary were from the time my father was based there in the army. Thanks again! - John
These cars are a great deal. The trucks are looking good. Did they couple up to mth and lionel cars ok. No slamming them together or the one cars coupler not closing? I have had issues with the new lionel trucks and coupler design not working with older lionel or mth cars. The coupler design was a different shape and the couplers did not want to close easily.
Not on these that I experienced yet, but that is always a possibility between manufacturers and the year a piece was made. I have some Lionel like that, and I just have to slide them together with the couplers already closed. Nothing is perfect.

Good to see you're back at it Sean, enjoy watching your channel immensely. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Welcome back Sean! This is my first time hearing about RMT before. After watching your video here I now have a big interest in some of these cars
They are a fantastic value! Don't think there is a better one in O Gauge today.
Really nice review Sean, RMT are an excellent value for the money. Especially at almost three to one.

The grease is mold releasing agent from injection molding💙
Makes sense. It wipes right off luckily because paint finish is important to me.
Good review. I know where I am headed the first day of York, Henning's . Hope to see you at York to say hi.
RMT is about the same equivalent as Menards or a Railking, Lioncheif. Nice to see them making O scale. 10yrs ago it was O27 scale. Not bad, Good Stuff.
RMT freight cars are a premier o scale car and not the smaller traditional/6464 size cars like other manufacturers you mentioned. Check them out.
@@BIGlittleRailroad yes I have rolling stock from RMT I bought 10yrs ago and it is O27 scale. They once started as a “64/64” product line.
Hey Sean. Nice to see you back with O Gauge trains. The robot build was cool but way over my head. Thanks anyway!😊
Sean, these are great pieces of rolling stock. I usually preorder from them once or twice a year. They’ve never let me down
Thanks for the review 👍👍
I'll be buying RMT from now on thanx Sean
It's hard to beat the quality of the RMT cars for the price. I bought several!

Looks like Menards to me. The clamshell and the shiny wheels.
I just came across this video ... Subscribed!!! 👍
Thank you you my friend are the person that I turn to for honest advice I value your opinion
Thanks

Those cars look great. How did you fix your triplex?
Im really impressed with these RMT PS-1 box cars. Im going to pick a few up, and for the price, its a great deal.
Great video!!!
If you yhink the PS-1 boxcars and ore cars are great...wait until the scale 36ft woodside reefers arrive very soon.
We got one of their ore cars with the defective trucks and wound up returning it. It seemed quite nice. The new boxcars look even better. I’ll have to give them a try again.

Great looking cars. Glad you did this video!
RMT boxcar is approx 15 ounces and within NMRA. standards.
The RMT boxcar shown is true o scale in comparison to the car you mentioned. Might be angle of photo.
Superbly-done video. Sure looks like great value, but nothing on offer now road name-wise I'm interested in.
Yeah, well keep looking on their website for future road names.

Wrong trucks for PS1 40' cars. Bettendorfs were advertised .

I've been waiting over two years for some wood chip cars. I cancelled my order to put my money elsewhere. ✌
I think they are all about to start arriving!
How much do they cost/ Say the WLE boxcar.
34.99
I've never heard of them how long RMT has been around?
I don't even know, but a long time.
How do they sell these scale cars for such a low price?
I have no idea!
RMT is owned by a retired railroad conductor who also operates O gauge trains. Why not charge a fair reasonable price?
Is the weight on the RMT car the same or less or more than Lionel cars?
When I hold one in each hand and gauge the weight, they feel the same. The RMT might be a hair lighter (I think mostly because of the trucks).
RMT is true NMRA standards weight for O gauge freight cars.
Whats the website for RMT?
