Fantastic video. I expect sales of these to triple after people see this video! I just bought a camera that was $1300 and it doesn't fly around or create any nicer footage!
and the 10year anniversary makes it almost 300$ cheaper for a limited time. I said fuck it and bought the P3 Advanced :) best thing is,I will still be able to sell it for a very good price in a few years :) if I will ever sell it I don't know . I doubt it .
oh just for the love of God buy it on Amazon or something...do not buy it from DJI. You don't want to wait a month if something broke and it wasn't your fault.
Went from a F450 quad to a phantom pro a few months back. Best move ever. You guys are right, the Go App / extreme camera control while flying is what makes this a clear winner over a flying gopro. Keep up the good work guys!
For aerial photography/videography the Phantom P3 is amazing. I bought mine partly for filming, partly just to enjoy sight-seeing FPV with a HD digital downlink, as it's so much sharper than the analogue FPV I've been flying for five years. I mean I can see detail I just cannot make out with my other fixed wing and multi-rotors. I love flying this just sitting in a folding chair and checking the view (I use a full hood to keep all light off the iPad mini screen). By the way, it's NOT a wifi download link like they say in this review, it's a specialised DJI 2.4ghz Lightbridge unit. Only the P3 Standard uses wifi, which has limited range by comparison. The footage is so good played back on our big TV that my wife was just slack jawed in amazement, like watching a Hollywood movie. Seriously, it's that good. When you stop in mid air, it looks like the camera is bolted to a balcony up high or something, even on windy days. But as they say, it's not a model plane or multi-rotor and is kinda lame to fly by comparison to an FPV glider or racing mini-quad. It's really a full sized aerial camera and a damn good one for the money.
Love my P3 Pro! One correction: Only the buttons on the back of the transmitter (C1, C2) are customizable, and then only with certain functions. For me, having one swap between FPV and map, and the other flipping the camera straight forward / straight down works really well.
Best description ever of the phantom! This is what a lot of people new to multis need to hear ! you can not compare a phantom to any 3DR products because phantoms are nice but very limited, new pilots don't understand opensource and get a 3DR quad mess with settings they know nothing about and wind up with a horrible experience! Great job as always, You guys are the best!!! GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR LOVED ONES!!
I got the chance to fly one for a friend, right out of the box, and it worked perfect, and gets you pro footage right away. the price was worth it, just for light bridge alone. it was a windy day, but it did not matter. this model 3 does everything the inspire does, that you really need.
The Phantom 3 Advanced is on sale for $799. No other drone can close to what it offers for anywhere near that price. The only main difference between the P3A and P3P is the 4K video which most people don't use anyway since most monitors can't output 4K (except newer ones). the Advanced camera has been updated to 2.7K (2704x1524) which is still higher than most will use. For those of you who don't use or like the fruit company products you can buy a new model Nvidia Shield tablet that works great with the Phantom 3 series and it even has an HDMI out so you don't need the $100 add-on from DJI to output to goggles like the Headplay or any other monitor. It also can output 4K video and runs without overheating like the fruit devices do in the summer and start dropping frames or slow way down. But the best thing about it is the $199 price at Amazon, no problems with the Go app, or 3rd party apps, works okay in sunlight, and it works right out of the box without worrying about changing settings or closing down factory apps. I've used it for a few months now and couldn't be happier and also sometimes use the Headplay goggles on my P3P.. So far not one app crash and have flown quite a distance away with no dropped frames or pixelation.
This video should be MANDATORY for anyone looking for a DJI or any ready-to-fly quadcopter. It's basically a whole other hobby: aerial photography, as opposed to building and flying RC aircraft. Loved the smartphone analogy!
I've owned the Phantom 3 Professional for 8 months now and love it! The only downside for me has been the firmware updates. I can't seem to get my P3 to work as good as when I first bought it. I keep getting "Signal Loss" errors. Didn't have any in the beginning! Keep up the good work guys!
I know right.. I had a problems for weeks where the app would crash on me as soon as i connected it to the remote. They did fix it, but with a product like this where you NEED the app to do anything, it should be nr1 priority.
A very honest and non bias video guys.. I think I'll be sticking to my Knuckle quad, the amount of times I had a hard landing... I just change the wooden booms....
Have you guys checked out the litchi app for the phantom? In my opinion it is packed with features that outdo the DJI Go app. Focus mode is the best, pick a point and the gymbol will adjust itself to keep it centered. Not to mention how amazingly cool ground-station is!
About the thing you called "Live stream preview" (Re-playing your footage while still in air): I think you may have got it wrong. I Believe the app has a cache setting turned on by default, so the app is constantly saving a local 720p copy of the live stream every time you record or take photos. So it really uses storage on your phone/tablet, but you can limit how much it is allowed to use and it automatically deletes old stuff when the limit is reached. You can also disable the cache function, but then you won`t be able to watch the "live stream preview". The good thing about the cache function is if you crash your Phantom into a lava lake, or something else that makes your Phantom irretrievable (or destroys the memory card completely), you can still have footage of what happened.
On my android phone this is true, but when i use my ipad mini i can not watch the videos when the phantom is turned off. Not from the gallery button at least.
The repair issue is why I stuck with a phantom 2. I have done tons of upgrades and repairs. The phantom 2 still uses modular components where the phantom 3 is all on one board. Good video by the way.
I love the experience of flying my P3 Advanced. I learned on RC planes, had a 3D helicopter and I still really enjoy this thing. I can't get over how smooth it flies, it's awesome. Also you can put the camera in FPV mode which limits the gimbal and gives you more of an FPV experience.
im a photography so im buying the phantom 3 but i just bought a syma x5c to learn and its so fun because know i get the feeling of flying whith ky syma and soon get amazing photography
+Dji Leon Wow, thank you so much. Alex worked really hard on this episode (and it's something that is traditionally out of our wheelhouse). I'll definitely pass this along :) -Austin
Great vid as usual. Ref the flying bit Alex, if you download the Nazam software you can plug the quads mother board into your pc and change the flight restrictions. I'm a club and BMFA instructor/examiner and have been flying RC for 30 years and this Phantom is a real handful with no restrictions and great fun to fly.
2 years after made this video, I still have my p3s and actually learnt a couple of things from this video! Of course I'm looking to upgrade but it has to be said the old Phantom 3 isn't that bad overall are they?! Mine's just for aerial photography so it suits me very well - just the standard has absolute crap WiFi range which is the only reason I'm thinking of changing plus it only has a 2.7 k camera not 4K.
Bought the 550 kit and put it together piece by piece, it flys a Sony alpha, and has lightbridge with programmable waypoints. I have FPV on another small gimble. I built this in 2013 instead of buying the phantom because of upgrade limits. later I acquired a used phantom from Jimmy (margaritaville) Buffett's crew just to have one. I now have the Yuneec Q 4k, and love it because it's not a DJI and is different in that it doesn't fit the "bad drone" image caused by people making poor choices.
just to share a little information when using the dji go app.For those who flying for the first time, use the simulator. I just found while using the simulator, if you land any where away from the home point and take off again, the app or the program while set that point as the home point . what this mean is ,if you don't know the area which you are flying, you can lost track of the bird. the rth will land the copter @the new home point. Get it?I don't believe there is an option to manually set the home point, ver 1.7...if you accidentally erase your flight path, you will probably have to rely on visuals to return home.
Now that you have had time with both the phantom 3 and the inspire 1, you should do a video comparing the 2. What make one better than the other and when.
Great vid on the Phantom, however some things you guys forgot to mention. 1st thing there is a newer version of the phantom 3 series that has a 5.8 downlink instead of the HD and they are introducing that at a lower price. The Phantom3 4k is 799.00 which is a phenomenal price. The P3 standard is now 499.00 which I'd say is a hell of a intro quad.
Also has up to 3 mile range (although you are supposed to fly line of site) and you can live stream to TH-cam while you are flying. 35mph top speed, has follow me, waypoints, and point of interest. Great drone.
+Don Price I read some news a while back that DJI now supports follow me, waypoints and point of interest, but when I updated firmware and app a while ago, I could not find those features. Are those in the DJI app, or do you have to get one of those third party apps?
+FlyByNorway It is built into the DJI Go app. You must switch the radio into F mode and the icon will pop up to the left of the aircraft status bar (Center bar showing GPS status). Once you tap that icon, it will show all 5 flight modes
+FlyByNorway IMO the Litchi app is more dependable for those flights you mentioned than the Go app. I only use the Go app for upgrading and a few things not included with the Litchi app, like camera settings, and calibrating. I've never had an app crash with the Litchi app and can't say the same for the Go app. For protecting a a $1000+ investment the Litchi app is well worth the small cost.
It would be interesting to have you compare this against some of the other major contenders in the videographer's quadcopters such as the 3DR Solo and the Blade Chroma. Have you flown either of these quads to see how they compare?
Guys, great review. The only thing you left out was mentioning the technology that really sets the Phantom 3 Pro apart from all the others, it's not just the app (which is good). Phantom 3 Pro does not use Wifi, as you stated. The Phantom 3 Advanced and Pro versions have a clear technology advantage using DJI's proprietary Lightbridge communications, which uses the same 2.4Ghz frequency, but it's NOT WIFI. Lightbridge is good for over 2 miles, when other drones using Wifi are lucky to get 1/2 mi. unless you're over water or in the desert with no obstructions or wifi interference. Lightbridge is what it's all about, it gives a HUGE jump in distance capability, and it SETS YOU FREE! All others without Lightbridge get old quick, very quick, and they become worthless very quick since anyone "in the know" wants the superior distance capability of Lightbridge.
Awesome video! For the "experience" thing, I have to say that I bought on 2008 an E-Sky Lama V4 expecting it to be easy to fly and designed for noobies, the thing is never achieved a real "flight" with it, only frog-like flights like, launch, move 1 meter randomsly, land. so it was uncontrollable, even indoors! Last week I bought an used DJI P2 with H3-3D and a GoPro Hero4 Black. 5 minutes was the time necessarily to learn to fly it, today I achieved my first 120 meters high flight with FPV, it was the best experience I had with RC Flying, and look, I looooove RC, but it took me 8 years to try it again just because I had a shit experience with the first helicopter and felt like throwing money in trash! So, for me, I really recommend a Phantom for beginners, it will fly easy, and with that, you will learn how control your drone before trying some Pro stuff... I think you don't have to learn how to drive in a 1000HP Dragster, maybe a Prius would do a better work at it, and then, when you fill safe, try some more Handy... Well, that was my 2 cents in this subject, bye guys!
Just a comment on something I saw in the Russa this winte .......would you believe they are using the quadcopters to tow snowboards?! ........way cool you should try it this winter aye!
I'm thinking of buying a P3P. A big thing for me is auto camera / flying features. Is there any automatic options, like cable cam, drawing your flight-path, automatically circle you etc etc. Can you do that with this drone?
+Gavin The Standard model uses a wifi downlink that has (I think) about a 500 metre range. DJI state that the Advance and Pro models are good for around 2 kilometres, depending on the radio noise floor in your area of operations. Of course, 2 kilometres and more are out of visual range of the person who is spotting for you and so may be illegal (and dangerous in built up areas). Which is a problem for all FPV operations. Unfortunately a lot of newbies will buy these and some will do silly things, which does endanger the hobby.
Completely unrelated to the video, but I have a home built 500 size quad, and i would like to know if I could transfer my electronics from my 500 to a 280? (If I change out the flight board)
could you guys do a "tips and tricks" to switch from stabilised quadcopter flying to acro/rate flying, I'm having an incredibly hard time switching over and i'm sure many others are too :D
As always - another great, honest review. Your comment about using the Phantom is similar to 'pushing around a camera in the sky' is very true. Well done guys. Enjoy the winter. I don't envy you.
Is the video link wifi between the iPad and the phantom or is it through a mor conventional fpv type link with wifi going from the transmitter to the iPad the second would give better range as wifi is limited to about 30 m to my knowledge. Kendrick
Superb video bang on point. I did exactly as you advised pre this video and bought a small mode 2 quad to learn the flight characteristics so when I switched to the phantom it was a super docile platform to discover aerial photography
As usual, EXCELLENT video, I feel like I really know something about the New P3P.......with that said, hopefully you are/will be doing a similar quality review of the NEW Yuneec Q500 4K and there app.
+Michael Aguirre It is unlikely that we will do a review of the Q500 but we would like to test the sense and avoid tech on the Typhoon H. We have always been fans of the GCO3+ 4K camera, and the Typhoon look like some really interesting competition for the Inspire 1 in price point/features. -Austin
@@FliteTest how do u stream to TH-cam. i get fail to login error. I'm flying the phantom 3 professional and using an Asus tablet or my Galaxy s9+ I've tried my wife's TH-cam account and i het the same message. If u have any ideas on how to fix it please message me
Hi guys and a big hello from Australia, Sydney. I have a DJI Phantom 2 vision + at the moment and love it. I am seriously thinking of going up to the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced. Is there much difference between the Advanced and Professional? I have put a few of my videos on You Tube under the tag Adams Flyovers.
Where did you get the large tablet mount? I'm looking for something that is more stable and can hold a larger tablet that what comes with the phantom 3 standard.
+JB The larger tablet holder comes with the remote for the pro/advanced. The standard version uses a different remote and a smaller tablet mount. Maybe if you did a search for the P3 pro tablet mount you might find something.
Hey guys, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. Ive been thinking about buying a dji inspire for some time now. Could you tell me why you guys use the phantom pro more than the inspire? Thank you and take care
Very good, comprehensive review, guys! Also, speaking of frame rates...y'all were posting episodes in 1080p60 for a while there. When did you switch back to 30fps? I think I prefer the lower frame rate.
+i8thegovernment The official range DJI operates with under good conditions, is 2 kilometers (approx 1.2 miles). However, last I checked there was youtube videos of people flying 6km/3.7miles and back, and both video and RC quality was still good at 6km, but they had to return so they would make it back on the remaining battery power. I have personally flown 3 km away, and I did not have any trouble with my RC or live stream connection. But you should have a clear line of sight between the remote and the aircraft, as trees or other objects easily cuts off your connection if they're in the way.
I love my Phantom 3,only downside it has fixed aperture of F 2/8,dynamic range is OK,but this is NOT my Nikon D810,major plus is you will get much more dramatic shots, sure beats getting close to cliff edges for that dramatic seascape photo.....
+bublebuble2004 The new Nvidia Shield tablet is only $199, has WiFi for preloading maps and also has an HDMI out so you save buying the $100 DJI add-on to get HDMI video out. The Shield has GPS lets you connect to a recorder, goggles, or a large montor and does 4K too. It also doesn't overheat in the summer and slow down like the Apple products.
You need something like this; www.amazon.com/Monitor-Sunshade-Phantom-Transmitter-Controller/dp/B00VWG7KZO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453788851&sr=8-3&keywords=phantom+3+sun+shade
old or cheapo phones, yes ...but my Galaxy S6 64gb for example,it is crazy bright in direct sunlight (more than any iPhone or any other phone anyway). I can see everything no problem. My Nexus 9 tablet is also bright. But not as bright . Nexus 9 white or Galaxy S6 white look so good on that transmitter(the "remote").
Hey just something for you guys at flite test to ponder if you see this. I've been watching your videos for years and loved all your designs and products but haven't ever got any since I bought your tricopter that looks like a bat (can't exactly remember the name) I bought it with all your recommended electronics but things just kept going wrong. I was learning to fly the multicopter and I'd be hovering and one motor would just stop and things would break. I kept doing this buying many new motors, new esc's and boom arms. I've bought new kk2 controllers and it kept doing the same thing. I spent easily over a thousand dollars on it and eventually gave up because I wasn't going anywhere with the hobby. Ever since I haven't bought or built anything and it has just absolutely killed the hobby for me. With the money I spent on it I could have gotten a phantom and nothing going wrong but I was really into the diy it kinda thing. Now I just watch your videos and always think about trying one of your foamboard planes but I just have the horrible feeling the same thing will happen again. I really hope you see this and get back to me some time on your thoughts.
+Jay Edward Hi Jay, sorry to hear you had such a rough experience with the Rotor Bones Bat Bone. That was one of our very first multirotor products and though a lot of people had great success with it, one of the most difficult things to figure out with DIY multirotors... is the electronics. Particularly when starting out it can be very confusing. One of the things we have done since then is to carry electronics that are compatible with all of our designs. If I may, I would suggest you look at the Tiny Trainer. store.flitetest.com/mighty-mini-tiny-trainer-speed-build-kit/ You will notice that beside the airplane is a power pack option and battery option that will hopefully make it a great experience for you. It is all 100% compatible. We also have a handy interactive build guide: fr.zone-secure.net/11829/124085/ This is in addition to the regular build videos we do. If you purchase the Tiny Trainer, you will get an email with all of the build video, articles and info about the airplane. Hopefully you have a rich and rewarding DIY experience with the airplane. I think you will find it a much better place to start then the Bat Bone. All the best, -Austin
I don't find the electronics confusing at all, I've used esc's, motors and lipos all before when making simple fan cars and things like that. I've even used the kk2 on a fan car to stop it from flipping when turning using its accelerometer. I just have no idea why one motor kept stopping mid flight. I'm very good a soldering and I checked my solders many times and it was all good. I still have a feeling it's the kk2 or kk2.1 that I have used on it
+FliteTest also I don't want to get another trainer because I've already had the hobby zone champ as a trainer than I took the wing off and put a foamboard one on it aswell as servos on the control horns and a new motor and that.... well haha it was a bit of fun for a cheap price
+drink15 not as a kit, but buld it yourself! Try a F450 with APM or something, can do GPS and allot more, but should still be able to do flips etc. (but i wouldnt recommend doing sportsflying with that much equipment)
Try looking into the TBS Discovery quadcopter. That platform can be customised and can have gps and things added in. The DJI Naza flight controller can provide the gps features, whack that in a custom quadcopter and add fpv and you're good to go! Minus the £1000+ but still
+georgesjunglerc I Used an App called Mirroring360 to airplay the ipad's image onto my macbook via wifi and then screen captured the airplay image using quicktime. took me a minute to figure that out..
great review - lots of detail that I've not heard anywhere else. just need to be aware , lots of Firmware updates to Quad / Tx and even Battery needs to be mentioned - As well as 3 calibrations (IMU, GIMBAL, QUAD) So, maybe easy to fly out the box, but really you need a bit more info to get it bang on.
Wow! This is an eye opening experience on DJI. I never knew much info about DJI copters. I sure learned a load in this great video. The operator is very well spoken on this product. I fly 450 and mini 250's for 2 years now so that is saying something about this machine and the photo pro opportunities Thanks.
depends... for like 300-500 meters ,very fast BRUSHLESS motors ,ability to do rolls and loops ,inverted flight with add-on props, moddable ,custom frames available ...FPV kits.... GET THE BLADE 200QX AND 3 MORE BATTERIES. You will love it so much you will want to place it on the nightstand when you go to sleep lol. I love that thing. 10-11minutes hovering. 10minutes slow flight. 8 minutes turbo/fast/full throttle flight per charge. Get additional 3 batteries and you will be set. So much fun do not buy the bigger Blade 350 qx3 -- it is a 62mph(100kph) quad BTW,but it does not have durable construction and it isn't reliable imo. It has GPS and all but...trust me if you want fun flights and acrobatics,Blade 200qx is the best value for money....OR You could also try the Eachine Assassin 180 which will come out soon with fpv goggles and all in the package. That one looks mean and faster too.
+Tomi I've got a 200QX and its fantastic, pretty strong as well because I've cart-wheeled mine during a crash on the ground. It was my second quad. if the first was only a toy and not a model. It's pretty damn good for the price!!
Caleb N. So are you saying that you already have a camera to put on it? Is there anything specific that draws you to the Phantom 1 that is in other newer quads?
New viewer. Awesome video. Im looking at a phantom 3 pro to use for fishing to drop baits out further than i can cast. Have you ever done any experiments with that sort of thing.
The advanced version is a really good middle ground between the pro and the standard because you lose the 4k camera but keep the better flight time and range, etc, compared to the standard which categorically worse at flight. However, you probably won't be disappointed whatever you do.
That's exactly my dilemma right now. I think I'm gonna go for the DJI first (I already have a Dromida Ominus) then an FPV racer because the footage from these drones is just sooooo beautiful and there's not really another way to achieve it. Good luck with your decision!
In our club we have a member flying the DJI Inspire1. There is a strong belief that since the Inspire transmits the video in the 2.4 range, it has caused interference and some serious plane crashes, with guys flying DSM2. Would you guys be able to comment on this?
Any tips on 3D printed mini quads or fpv quads because I want to get into fpv I have the equipment to make one and a GoPro for the fpv but I want to 3D print my own and assemble it all just don't know how
The new Phantoms like here are not that interesting - They'll work very well. BUT ... lets retest it after a year ... then a Review would be interesting, or precisely: - How many times charging did the 4S LiPo last, (I'd like to place an assumption : approx 40 times) - Is the Phantom still that locked in as it was in the beginning? For me and my experience this is a nice thing for AP ... but to expensive on the long term (Been through that on the latest Phantom 2). (my) Reasons: - paying about 150 bucks for 40 charges is a NO GO (and I treated mine pretty nice, had 5 Lipos)! - The canopy will by time get "softer" ... making the quad get more jello. (I've got plenty of footage online, beginning to end) so PLEASE ... do a review after ONE YEAR :)
Fantastic video. I expect sales of these to triple after people see this video! I just bought a camera that was $1300 and it doesn't fly around or create any nicer footage!

Love my P3 Pro!
One correction: Only the buttons on the back of the transmitter (C1, C2) are customizable, and then only with certain functions. For me, having one swap between FPV and map, and the other flipping the camera straight forward / straight down works really well.
They also have 5 versions of the Phantom 3 now not just the couple he mentioned.
+Dennis Dunbar no,there is Pro,Advanced,Standard and 4k (exactly like Standard but with 4k)
+Tomi that was sarcasm but thanks. Lol

Aha, I only have an android device
The repair issue is why I stuck with a phantom 2. I have done tons of upgrades and repairs. The phantom 2 still uses modular components where the phantom 3 is all on one board. Good video by the way.
This is not the review we wanted but this is the review we needed 💯 thank you
I love the experience of flying my P3 Advanced.
I must say with no disrespect to everyone else's review on this , you're the best to date easily explained brilliant review thanks guy's
I'd say the bebop 1 is a good learning quad, cause of how easy you can replace parts and learn about them
My JROTC unit got one from the Air Force. Great footage from it. Updates can be a pain in the neck, but it works great.
14:00 You can do UHD or sub 4k in 30fps in ntfs. :)
I now have the Yuneec Q 4k, and love it because it's not a DJI and is different in that it doesn't fit the "bad drone" image caused by people making poor choices.
just bought a bixler and want to make it haul A##. what set up do you recomend Mr. Bixler? i want to run 4 cells. already bought 30amp esc.
This video was like witnessing poetry. I think y'all hit the nail on the head when it came to people using these tools in the wrong way.
just to share a little information when using the dji go app.For those who flying for the first time, use the simulator.
+Donald “NOT PLAYING1970” Byrd Right you are, sir!
+Don Price Awesome, thank you!
You guys should dig into a pixhawk and 3dr solo. Awesome equipment and machine, would like to know what you guys think about them
Just a comment on something I saw in the Russa this winte .......would you believe they are using the quadcopters to tow snowboards?! ........way cool you should try it this winter aye!
What about the 3DR solo? The big Phantom competitor :P I would like to see it in your show
I'm thinking of buying a P3P. A big thing for me is auto camera / flying features. Is there any automatic options, like cable cam, drawing your flight-path, automatically circle you etc etc. Can you do that with this drone?
Is there anywhere I can find more of Chad Kapper's music? Does he have a soundcloud or anything?
Bought a P3P today. Its used and will fly with my P4 graciously. In my view? Its still the stronger flyer between the two of them.
Hi may I ask how to adjust the maximum distance to 3km or more.. it only allows me up to 500m max..
Great review, correct me if i'm wrong but i don't believe you mentioned the fly or video range. That could be something important to some of us 😊
+Gavin The Standard model uses a wifi downlink that has (I think) about a 500 metre range.
Thanks for the reply
Good video can you guys make ur mighty minis speed build with rtf kit?
review the yuneec q500
Hey... can I convert the footage to 50i with the footage from the Phantom 3?
does it work with any iPad or does it have to be a Cellular iPad ?
Any suggestions for cheap fpv quads with remote in package
eachine fpv racer 250 for 289
+DALTON PETHEL dromida ominus fpv
Absolutely AWESOME overview of the Go app and P3P review. Great job as always guys.
What kind of lens are you using on it again?
What app did you use to record the screen?
You should do a review of the Traxxas Aton
What's the difference between the Phantom 3 4K on the website for $799 and the 4K professional?
Completely unrelated to the video, but I have a home built 500 size quad, and i would like to know if I could transfer my electronics from my 500 to a 280? (If I change out the flight board)
Awesome guys!! wish the taxes for import here in Brazil wasn't too high... but still have hope to get one of these!
is there an affordable fpv helmet we can use with a phone for this drone ? thanks
could you guys do a "tips and tricks" to switch from stabilised quadcopter flying to acro/rate flying, I'm having an incredibly hard time switching over and i'm sure many others are too :D
Can you compare it to Blade Helis Chroma 4K?
As always - another great, honest review.
Your comment about using the Phantom is similar to 'pushing around a camera in the sky' is very true.
Well done guys. Enjoy the winter. I don't envy you.
+creativecroc Brrrrrrrrr. :)
how do you make it show how many mph its flying
DJI 3 SE or DJI 3 PRO? Looking to shoot videos and take pictures. This is my first drone purchase. Which camera is better?
can you review the solo for contrast?
how does one get the cross lines on their mini iPad?
Is the video link wifi between the iPad and the phantom or is it through a mor conventional fpv type link with wifi going from the transmitter to the iPad the second would give better range as wifi is limited to about 30 m to my knowledge.
Kendrick
+Kendrick Apps It's cabled connection to the controller. USB for Android and I believe it's USB to lightning connector for iOS.
Superb video bang on point. I did exactly as you advised pre this video and bought a small mode 2 quad to learn the flight characteristics so when I switched to the phantom it was a super docile platform to discover aerial photography
Question: Does the software work just as well on and Android tablet ?
Thanks for the review guys-well presented and concise. Is it possible to FPV the P3 using fatshark goggles?
Cheers.
The phantom 3 came with 2 damping rods already installed, but there is room for 4 total. How many do you recommend or should I use?
Dang, I crashed my Phantom and can't find anywhere to fix it. Any suggestions out there where to get repairs?
What was the name and model of the quadcopter you recommended playing with in your house for $70?
Where did you get the large tablet mount? I'm looking for something that is more stable and can hold a larger tablet that what comes with the phantom 3 standard.
+JB The larger tablet holder comes with the remote for the pro/advanced. The standard version uses a different remote and a smaller tablet mount. Maybe if you did a search for the P3 pro tablet mount you might find something.
will this drone work with my iPad 2
Hey guys,
I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. Ive been thinking about buying a dji inspire for some time now. Could you tell me why you guys use the phantom pro more than the inspire?
Thank you and take care
Woah man!! I love that flight crash into the intro graphic.
Very good, comprehensive review, guys!
Also, speaking of frame rates...y'all were posting episodes in 1080p60 for a while there. When did you switch back to 30fps? I think I prefer the lower frame rate.
Great video guys. One thing whats the range on the rc and video?
+i8thegovernment The official range DJI operates with under good conditions, is 2 kilometers (approx 1.2 miles). However, last I checked there was youtube videos of people flying 6km/3.7miles and back, and both video and RC quality was still good at 6km, but they had to return so they would make it back on the remaining battery power.
I have personally flown 3 km away, and I did not have any trouble with my RC or live stream connection. But you should have a clear line of sight between the remote and the aircraft, as trees or other objects easily cuts off your connection if they're in the way.
+FlyByNorway Thanks mate. thinking about getting this to add to my collection! The software looks awesome!!!
Nice video guys! Been thinking about getting one of these for a while now
Can I use a Kindle fire tablet?
How are u wearing that stuff?? It’s 72 degrees Fahrenheit, I would be in shorts and a t shirt
Well done. Thank you! I may wait to see if there's a 4 out soon but will have one in my photography arsenal for sure this year.
is that resisted? mine is
I love my Phantom 3,only downside it has fixed aperture of F 2/8,dynamic range is OK,but this is NOT my Nikon D810,major plus is you will get much more dramatic shots, sure beats getting close to cliff edges for that dramatic seascape photo.....
Do you need to have a Internet connection for the map feature or is there a way of pre uploading the maps ...?
cheers for the reply
+bublebuble2004 just get a wifi only ipad and use your phone as a wifi hotspot for internet outside. Thats what most people do
yep i was thinking doing this as ive just updated my mini iPad, thanks for the help
+Jerry Ellis sounds like a great product
Well done Flite Test, clear & concise video with understandable technical detail, thank you.
Any hints for actualy seeing the screen on your phone/tablet outside. Any phone I have had is next to impossible to see in sunlight.
If I may, I would suggest you look at the Tiny Trainer. store.flitetest.com/mighty-mini-tiny-trainer-speed-build-kit/
You will notice that beside the airplane is a power pack option and battery option that will hopefully make it a great experience for you. It is all 100% compatible.
We also have a handy interactive build guide: fr.zone-secure.net/11829/124085/
This is in addition to the regular build videos we do.
Hi I have a phantom 3 advice and I can't get the app for it on my smartphone what is the app called for it
It's not on the playstore
@@nopel. What's it on how do I get it
Sorry it keeps deleting it
I don't see your FAA number on there...
and you don't want anyone e else knowing your number if your one I'd the jaxkasses that got one
oh come on,what a jerk :D :D
+Dani2wheels you don't need one and if you have any common sense you won't have one...
Just fucking get one and don't fly like an idiot, it's the law.
Dani2wheels are insults necessary ? You won't get this point through if you use that kind of language...
Is there are quad that is "sporty" that also has GPS, RTH, and can also do FPV?
Or is that asking for too much?
+drink15 not as a kit, but buld it yourself! Try a F450 with APM or something, can do GPS and allot more, but should still be able to do flips etc. (but i wouldnt recommend doing sportsflying with that much equipment)
Try looking into the TBS Discovery quadcopter. That platform can be customised and can have gps and things added in. The DJI Naza flight controller can provide the gps features, whack that in a custom quadcopter and add fpv and you're good to go! Minus the £1000+ but still
KyrreXXL That would be perfect, but I too big for the area I fly in right now.
Can you tell me how you captured the iPad screen for your video?
+georgesjunglerc I Used an App called Mirroring360 to airplay the ipad's image onto my macbook via wifi and then screen captured the airplay image using quicktime. took me a minute to figure that out..
+Alex Zvada Hi Alex, Thank you very much! Awesome job.
great review - lots of detail that I've not heard anywhere else.
just need to be aware , lots of Firmware updates to Quad / Tx and even Battery needs to be mentioned -
As well as 3 calibrations (IMU, GIMBAL, QUAD)
So, maybe easy to fly out the box, but really you need a bit more info to get it bang on.
Wow! This is an eye opening experience on DJI. I never knew much info about DJI copters. I sure learned a load in this great video. The operator is very well spoken on this product. I fly 450 and mini 250's for 2 years now so that is saying something about this machine and the photo pro opportunities Thanks.
best budget drone?
+Caleb N. It depends on whether you're looking for a hobby platform or an aerial photography platform.
depends... for like 300-500 meters ,very fast BRUSHLESS motors ,ability to do rolls and loops ,inverted flight with add-on props, moddable ,custom frames available ...FPV kits.... So much fun
do not buy the bigger Blade 350 qx3 -- it is a 62mph(100kph) quad BTW,but it does not have durable construction and it isn't reliable imo. It has GPS and all but...trust me if you want fun flights and acrobatics,Blade 200qx is the best value for money....OR
You could also try the Eachine Assassin 180 which will come out soon with fpv goggles and all in the package. That one looks mean and faster too.
+Tomi I've got a 200QX and its fantastic, pretty strong as well because I've cart-wheeled mine during a crash on the ground. It was my second quad. if the first was only a toy and not a model. It's pretty damn good for the price!!
Yea, I guess I should've stated a purpose and price, but for the price would anyone recommend a phantom 1. I don't need to buy a new camera for it
Thanks for this... Killer review I'v been looking for weeks for good in depth information on the phantom 3 pro you guys nailed it...
Should I get this accept the standard?
The advanced version is a really good middle ground between the pro and the standard because you lose the 4k camera but keep the better flight time and range, etc, compared to the standard which categorically worse at flight. However, you probably won't be disappointed whatever you do.
Not sure if I want a fpv kwad or a cam drone...
Any tips on 3D printed mini quads or fpv quads because I want to get into fpv I have the equipment to make one and a GoPro for the fpv but I want to 3D print my own and assemble it all just don't know how
Do you have a quadcopter already?
+41Extremo I have a Blade 350qx
How do you turn camera on
The new Phantoms like here are not that interesting - They'll work very well. BUT ... lets retest it after a year ... then a Review would be interesting, or precisely:
- How many times charging did the 4S LiPo last, (I'd like to place an assumption : approx 40 times)
- Is the Phantom still that locked in as it was in the beginning?
For me and my experience this is a nice thing for AP ... but to expensive on the long term (Been through that on the latest Phantom 2).
(my) Reasons:
- paying about 150 bucks for 40 charges is a NO GO (and I treated mine pretty nice, had 5 Lipos)!
- The canopy will by time get "softer" ... making the quad get more jello. (I've got plenty of footage online, beginning to end)
so PLEASE ... do a review after ONE YEAR :)
