We have growing concerns with CU related to customer care and platform stability, so I'm exploring options. They have a live chat but 50% of the time they live chat rep cannot assist you and says "We are forwarding to said person" so in essence, its not really that much of a help. I have also used the chat and had an instant reply that said "reply time is usually within 1.5 hours" thats just silly.

    Come on! hierarchy is the main reason why we switched from Monday to ClickUp. ClickUp's hierarchy is super helpful in getting an overall view of all your tasks, and in creating your daily to-do list. We found this to be impossible with Monday. Hierarchy is the main competitive advantage of ClickUp over Monday. Well, that, recurring tasks and subtasks (I don't know if they added but they didn't have subtasks about 1.5 years ago).

    I've done a comparison of Monday and ClickUp before, and if you're looking for a really clean interface Monday is a winner, but if you're looking for MORE functionality, I would recommend Clickup. I also really hate how sub-tasks look in Monday, where they look like separate tasks altogether -- it just doesn't look like sub-tasks so its very confusing.

    As many people, we started with Monday, then switched to ClickUp as we needed more functionnality.
    After 2 years of using it, I feel like Clickup does a great job at Project Portfolio management whereas most softwares become messy when you are trying to manage a large number of projects. In my case, a team of 15 working on about 120 projects.

    I might not be a most practical person, so for me it is always - design first 🙂So went the Monday route. In fact, we looked into the likes of Jira, Asana, Smartsheets and Click-up too. Ideally we wanted to stay with the MS toolset (Planner, Sharepoint, Project), but in MS case, it is a real mess. As some other part of the corporate is using Click-up already, I have tried to give it few chances, but its visual aesthetics and UI clutter put me really off 😞
    But there are things I don't like about Monday either - the Item card (overview) allows just for one column design. When you want to create a summary board of your projects, it allows only 20 boards to be aggregated with the Pro licence. Even an Enterprise plan allows only 50, which still might not be sufficient, so you need to really think about the hierarchy and plan ahead accordingly. We are also used to the checklists (as MS Planner users). In Monday, those are stupidly hidden in the Rich-text editor ....
    Layla, your video and the narrative skills are really excellent. I have enjoyed it very much, thank you 🙂

    I was a little confused on the pricing of Monday at first, but it appears what you're really paying for is a base price (~$10) then adding on smaller prices per seat for specific features (+$2-$4). So you can mix and match, which I like - at least as far as my superficial research goes.

    • @LaylaPomper

    Nice comparison of those three areas. I've seen ads for Monday but when I checked, I too did not like the pricing structure. Perhaps I missed it but the ability to add guests in Clickup is a huge plus in my mind, especially with Monday's higher prices.

    I was previously with Monday & I really loved its ease of use. I switched to CU because of some of the added functions and the price. I have a team of 3-5. What I dislike about CU is that it does so much (but nothing perfectly) that it has a HUGE learning curve. This means its harder to get buy in and regular use from my staff. To be honest l would switch back to Monday today but the “products” has me stumped. As you mentioned l need to run a crm, and my staff need to manage projects (and we all use gantt charts so l need to use 2 products at a min? How do they accommodate this? Also one of the feature I love and use so much in CU is the chrome add-on to clip web pages and add emails as tasks. Can Monday do this?

    • @LaylaPomper
      @LaylaPomper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great point about the learning curve. And yes! Those products are complete nonsense. In the original edit of this video, I actually spell out how it took several emails to Monday support to even reach anyone who understood what products were. I ended up asking, "How do I get all the features?" and I never got a good answer. 😢

    After almost switching from clickup to Monday, I realized you didn't have recurring tasks and task reminders on Monday! Yes, you have due dates, but this is crazy. basic feature IMO! When I want to do a task on Monday called, "Do xyz everyday at 10:00 on Tuesday" - the only way I can do that is with Automations. What a nightmare! My only beef with Monday is the fact they don't have a basic feature like grouping by status.
    You have to drag items manually and it is infuriating because one can only assume they don't have this so that you'll create an automation for it, and therefore use way more usages with automations which potentially would push you to upgrade to a more expensive plan.
    Constantly dragging up and down items to fit for the right group, not to mention it breaks whatever arrangement you've done.
    So if you did arrange by due date, and now all the items are arranged like that..... if you drag an item it will break that arrangement.
    ClickUp has this BUILT IN and it's huge in my opinion.
