    You're "an old school pen and paper" type. We get it. We use to be too! Until we discovered the wonders of digital task management. But where do you start? How do you get ALL of that information you've got spread across sticky notes and honey-do lists and put it into a work management tool like ClickUp?
    In this video, ProcessDriven CEO Layla Pomper, gives viewers a beginner's tutorial of the ClickUp Hierarchy. She shows you how you can take those overflowing filing cabinets & notebooks and turn them into an efficient, multi-layered Workspace -- that's flexible enough to build around your home AND work life!
    Here's what we'll cover:
    00:00 Introduction
    00:26 - Paper List and Folder Analogy
    02:42 - How to digitize that stack of to-do lists
    04:40 - How to organize that huge stack into folders
    05:13 - How to organize those folders into spaces
    07:05 - How to incorporate ClickApps
    08:34 - Why a task management tool can be more effective than your paper lists
    09:14 - Adding a description now, to save yourself time later
    11:28 - Adding subtasks and checklists
    13:10 - Adding attachments
    14:07 - Assigning tasks to other people
    14:19 - Sharing tasks publicly vs. sharing and permissions
    15:32 - The benefits of a Due Date
    16:04 - Adding watchers
    16:54 - The biggest benefit of going digital: Activity and Changelogs

      The analogy for views would be different physical catalogues with the cabinets, folders ,tasks organized and grouped differently in each catalogue for quick reference on how to find each item and maybe key details.

    I just started using ClickUp for software project management and hopefully to manage my ADHD brain on the side. I’m glad this is the first video I watched as it was very clear.
    Also, an analogy you can use for the view function is watching movies. You can view them in a theater or on a TV or on a tablet or phone.

    World-class ADHDer here! I leave a wake of discarded PM systems behind me. I decided to kick tires on ClickUp because of all the potentially helpful functions (*estimate vs real-time & dependencies*). Because ClickUp has SOOO many features I would have been completely overwhelmed and ditched it like the rest - - - BUT I found your video 'Your First Hour' before I even created my account. AND I'M HOOKED. You're now my ClickUp Master.

    Thank you so much for this video. It was SOOOO helpful. I watched a few others, that were horrible and not helpful before I found this one. This one really helped me. I loved the real-world example of cleaning a house because I could relate to this example. Some of the other videos talked about tasks that I could not relate to and it made it harder to understand how to make this software work for me. I liked that you started with lists and moved up the hierarchy instead of starting with spaces and moving down. Somehow this really helped me to better understand how to organize stuff. I will definitely be watching your other videos for this software. Thank you.

    Superlative Explanation and as great as it is it's a mindful no matter how well you strive to simplify and you do a great job. I love your detours to simplicity when you could have taken a fork in the road to complexity. This video is a service to those seeking a fundamental overview of the ClickUp Hierarchy. It really makes me feel that there are 2 kinds of people. Architects and people who live & work in the "Spaces" they create. This video is where it starts and one viewing isn't adequate. A+

    • @LaylaPomper
      @LaylaPomper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the connection you made to architects vs ?builders? - I really hope this video speaks to that latter group! Really appreciate your kind words. ☺️

    • @GarfieldStinvil
      @GarfieldStinvil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LaylaPomper You are generous to add "Builders" to address the "Team" aspect of a ClickUp Organization which your video is geared towards. I went straight to consumers/clients/customers as I have yet to establish a Team in the non-digital world :-). You are right to point out what I overlooked. And yet I wonder about these builders and how much of an Architect they need to be to effectively build. ClickUp demands more from anyone who enters their labyrinth. (I edited my original to add the phrase "live & work in" to address your builder analogy).
      An excellent primer and ClickUp's Complexity has drawn out the best in your passion to translate what is amazing about the possibility of ClickUp. You have contributed to making the project management tool more accessible than most and your earnestness is both heartfelt & creatively expressed. ClickUp is lucky to have you as a committed advocate who looks beyond their annoying limitations in process workflow. Whether Microsoft Teams, Trello, or ClickUp there are no lack of updates to be on top of to make the most what is possible in the Project Management Landscape. :-)

    This has been very helpful in getting me up and running. I had my work as a space and then my clients as another space, which I did not understand before I watched your tutorial. Now I have moved my client folders into the work space. The generic tasks I need to complete for each client are being copied to client folders and then customised as required. Each task is date driven, so if I need to see where I am, I can view the Gantt chart and use it to even out the scheduling of my work. Thanks again for an excellent presentation!!

    Analogy for views: imagine your tasks are like post it notes. Calendar view is like putting each post it note on a big calendar. Kanban view is like putting each post it note on a Kanban board, sorted by status.
    A list view sorts all the post it notes in that list (aka folder), a space view sorts all the notes in the space (aka cabinet).

      This tutorial _does_ contain a lot of quality information for users new to ClickUp. The fact that Layla speaks at 100 mph and never seem to take a breath, however, is likely the main reason this video hasn't racked up more views. Slow the playback down to 0.75 speed and you'll get a lot more out of it.

    Timestamps!!! Thank you! I was a VA over half a decade ago, when task managament apps were a little simpler. I'm now a craftsman and charity worker doing a bunch of radically different jobs. I figured I could jump straight back into clickup to help manage my different workflows and it would all come flooding back, but looking at my old lists my brain just made a farting noise and switched off. This is exactly the video I was looking for to gently bring me back into the right headspace.

    I have been looking for a video that properly explained ClickUp to a complete click novice like me for ages, and most of them start too far up the ladder, I must say you have cracked it, one of the hardest thing to understand from the start is a simple way of how to integrate it into your daily life, your video is excellent at achieving this. the only other thing that helped is that I installed one of click ups folder templates, (the on one vacation planning), and in an instance I could see how to go about planning. Your videos are amazing, I will be watching the whole of this playlist. Thank you.
