When it comes to bashing, I was a OT fan all the way. Then I bought a used Granite and started tinkering. Like the Gorgon I have yet to have a single series break. My OT is now breaking non stop and parts are difficult to come by often. With the OT, I buy shock tower screws in bulk weekly LOL. Either way great video as always.
Rlaarlo- this is a BIG learning opportunity for you. If you had supplied Evan with the carbon edition, this competition would not have even been close. Far superior radio system, including the Gyro, which is incredible by the way, plus way more power from a bigger motor and better ESC? You should be sending Evan the good stuff every time. Happy Halloween Evan and family and everyone reading this ! Don't eat too many pumpkins! If i was buying a new truck, it'd be the MJX. I had bad experience with Rlaarlo electronics and I'm not going there again. CT8A transmitter 75 days old and useless because it gives full reverse throttle inputs when i turn it on. It's not a mechanical issue because the potentiometer for the trigger is centered. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Your mileage may vary.

@@DerbyCityRCyeah, I'm sort of looking at the Dumbo DDF350, but the Dumbo X6 I have is so simple and reliable that I'm not sold on a newer-fangled version. Lots of folks use the X6 with no problems. I'm sure I just got a bad CT8A, I just wish there had been a warranty. I'm not writing comments to bash Rlaarlo, I've got nothing against them. I'd just like to help people make better decisions for themselves, to have more information to decide their purchases. I got my 10208 V2 upgrade kit. I have not opened the bag but looks like the majority of a truck in there. I see cast metal pieces through the plastic. I am guessing motor mounts. I got some work ahead of me.
The terminator is the best rc I have owned since giving up 3k mcd 5th scale race machines. It just drives right, the geometry is spot on and I have not managed to break mine even with some skate park action. If they made a 10th or an 8th I would be all over it. Rally car. Or my thing sadly.
It is quite good! I have a feeling they got some bigger stuff coming. The Rally is funner-er than I thought it would be but I do already like cars like that 😃

I still can't decide between them both 😂 it's a tough one because mjx parts are available easily in the uk and 24 hours delivery but the omni looks better to drive and I would have to wait for parts from China haha. This is another excellent video. Both being great trucks it may just come down to price and parts availability. I think there are people out there that will torture them the way you do, but not many. So, your evaluation is very valuable.
@ it was so close! I had my arm out the window and nipped an ear on accident. The mama llama got super ticked and started chasing us, but then we got back across the river, and as we all know, the invisible fence shock collars that they all have to wear kept them from coming after us anymore. It got pretty hairy there for a few minutes though! Who knew a full-grown llama’s speed was over 50 mph?!
Make sure you update the firmware in the allrock. Was having problems with my drag brake - new firmware this past week fixed it. Did have to recalibrate the motor afterwards. Now it’s golden.
@I’ll check when I get home. Can’t be certain but think it’s on 1.3 now… think it was under settings but I’ll get back to you. Try setting your drag brake to 5% and rolling the truck by hand. Then set it back to 60% and try again. the 5% should be much less resistance. If it feels the same as 60% it’s the old firmware.

Bro, I’ve run my stock, besides stand offs and drive cups, Omni-Terminator carbon fiber edition on 4s several times… and it hauls ass and has zero problems. My buddy tried 4s in his metal edition OT and cooked his esc😳… but mine with the bigger esc and motor had no problems
I have to go with MJX if you can get it around 250.. That said I really like the Terminator also.. I don’t think you can go wrong with either truck, long as you get it for a decent price that is.. lol

Thanks!!! 😊 I haven’t ever tried tire swaps on that besides extra large ones which I don’t recommend. I’d maybe try the hbx 16889a tires. They don’t necessarily have excellent wearability, but they might slide a bit better making the car more stable.

For 1 you can find the mjx for as low as 200 if you look in the right places and second I would like to know how they hold up to the original 12th scale king the haiboxing 2997a could you possibly do a short video maybe comparing the 3? Ive been trying to decide between buying the Omni terminator, the hypergo, or buying an 8th scale kraton chassis and building it myself with upgraded parts.

I wonder that too, but with both of these two, that doesn’t seem to be the case (except for the mix end links). The diff gaskets are so you have fresh gaskets if you tune them yourself but if you’re careful you can reuse them a few times.

Hard to say. The stock sorts are all decent. Maybe wait and see if you break anything? If you have the aluminum version, I’d maybe get one of the other bodies.
Honestly I really haven’t run to again yet. Still need to fix the other shocks but I had another guy comment saying he did it and no issues since! All depends on how long of tubing you add. Need that sweet spot.
Great video, answers so many people's most burning RC question! One remark though: Don't you rate the Terminator way too slow? Just taking the gearing, it should run 43 mph with the 24T pinion and 48 mph with the 27T pinion. I got it to 40 and 44, respectively, without trying all that hard, but with a higher C-rate battery. With stock, it ran 38 on 24T (27T doesn't make much sense with the supplied battery).

Great video brother! I was disappointed with the top speed of both actually. The MJX is slower on 4s out of the box than a $125 Laegendary Thunder on 3s, The terminator is substantially slower even with the pinion swap. But...both of trucks are 10× as durable as the Thunder, if you by chance run over a small bug, even a ant, the Thunder will bend a cvd/dogbone. I worked alot with Laegendary and I know I helped them sell quite a few Thunders and they all but abandoned my channel because we got hit by hurricane weather and couldn't turn out "enough" videos for them! The only Thunder I have left is my speedrun truck and nothing about it is Laegendary but the body shell! Happy Halloween!
I think he got the figures too low for the Terminator. It should be 43 and 47 mph just by using the transmission ratio, and even I as a beginner with no race track got 40 and 44 mph, or 39 mph (on 24T) with the supplied low-C battery.

My 12 year old son has been watching RC videos for a few months now and wants one for Christmas. As he would be new to the hobby I don't want to spend a few hundred on one vehicle (yet). Rlaarlo all the way. CF has been at $212 on Amazon for a while now. No brainer for that price. Also maybe add battery to your chart? IMHO, the major issue with the Omni-term is lack of space for the larger battery. There’s no ‘good’ spot to move the esc to, despite coming with different battery clips. But if you’re willing to buy fpv size batteries, this thing on 4s is a monster. On 4s it backflips like it’s on fire. Also as bad as Rlaarlo customer service is, my experience with MJX is that they have ZERO US customer support. They don’t respond to emails, and they depend completely on their vendors to handle any issues. If you get an mjx from AliExpress, or you’re past the 30 days on Amazon, you’re out of luck. Food for thought.
Very true! The battery thing doesn’t usually bother me like it does some others, but yes that’s a good point. They do now sell a 4400mah battery that fits. Also, seems I’ve been noticing Rlaarlos service getting better. I believe they now have a dedicated department for customer service and I’m seeing much fewer complaints. Weirdly enough I don’t see too many MJX service complaints either but it’s definitely harder to get ahold of them so it makes sense.
@@DerbyCityRCI’ve never had an MJX problem before, but I got an H8h allrock from AliExpress (after your video turned me on to it) and had a problem with the esc - it ended up being a firmware problem that got updated and solved, I think - but I spent several hours trying to contact them; the seller on AliExpress was supposedly messaging their engineer, contacted customer service at helidirect (because they had a link to mjx customer service on their site). They sent an email to mjx seeing if they could find any working phone or email for mjx customer support - nothing panned out. Seems like if I had a genuine warranty issue with an mjx product id be shit out of luck. Very surprising to me but that’s my experience. Rlaarlo may take days to respond, be very abrupt, have long delays and be resistant to returns, but at least you can reach them if you have an issue. H8H is awesome, btw - thanks for reviewing it.
Yup I get it. It’s a 1/10 for other types of cars like a rally or on-road, but it’s small for a monster truck. Some people still feel mislead by that statement though. Not really saying it’s a bad thing, just making sure people know the size.
That’s a good one I should have mentioned. Probably pretty equal actually. Neither are super easy or super difficult. If one was harder I’d probably say the Omni was a little tougher and has more 1.5 mm hex screw heads which can sometimes round off easily. The Goblinator video should give a good idea of servicing the Omni, and the “How the MJX 10208 should have been made” video I did after the v1 release should give some insight into that one.
Okay, I have V1 of the MJX which I picked up on Makerfire $195 even, free shipping (but it took 3 weeks+ to get here). Now, I bought just recently the V2 upgrade kit from Makerfire for $38 even also free shipping. So that get's it under $240 (just barely) but I don't have a 4S LiPo to put in it, only a 3S so, factor that in. Let's see, add 5 X 2, -3 divided by 4, carry the 1, and!?!? Hell, I dunno... What'd you get?
I’d say you did pretty good if you already have a 3s. V2 is a gooood deal but I’m glad they sell those upgrade kits for as cheap as they do. Now just grab you a 4s and have a blast!

My Omni CF just arived and I love it! I only had SG116 MAX and MJX 14210 previously so OT feels sooo much better. Thanks for convincing me to get one! I think I got addicted though as I am already thinking about getting a 'real' 10th scale rc 😂 MJX is awesome for the price, but I wish it had better radio and performed on 3s as it does on 4s. On the other hand 3s Arrmas are almost double the price here in PL... I think you need to make another comparison video 😁
I can’t remember if it was the top or bottom e clip. I believe I showed it in my goblinator video and found what’s hopefully a long term fix. Just adding some fuel line as an extra bumper.
Hmm. My guess is 3/16” ID. I can’t remember if I said what size in that vid. But it was standard small engine fuel line which I think is what I stated above.
@@DerbyCityRC The axle protectors that come on omni for shipping are a perfect fit on the shock shafts, just cut them to about 3-4mm take off the rod ends and slide them over. stops the shocks from bottoming completely, no circlip problems.
Gotta disagree with ya evan this will be the 1st time but i pull doubles with the TURTLE-ATOR easily with the 19t pinion and stock motor but i do see the mjx is easier flippable i do hafta say though that ive only pulled off 1 front flip n i think i just got lucky

@ yeah stock battery will pull doubles but my ramp is lil different n probably has different launch angle ya can see it in my videos back close to the 1st ones No wait thats was on the skatepark footage that got gremlins or sumtin ill re film it when i get my diff cups in and on him 50+ pks b4 they finally gave up the ghost (Halloween pun) but fitting lol oh and i will say the ovoneks or however ya spell it battery same mah but higher c rating makes it wanna try n go fir the tripple but peters out n well u know what happens after that lol
@DubVredneck gotcha!! Ya my main review video was back when I didn’t have my portable ramp. The wood one isn’t as good of a launch for backflips. Battery can definitely make a difference!! 😃😃
@DerbyCityRC undercarriage into front diff bulkhead... I need to install the new diff and get it back running, but the plastic skid plate has eroded and exposed screw heads, which led to polished heads with nothing to drive into.
Oh wow. So even digging into the socket with a pick to remove dirt/debris won’t get you enough to bite into? Luckily since the bulkhead is plastic, they shouldn’t be too hard to remove. You can use a dremel and small cutoff wheel to cut a slot into the screw heads to get a flat head screw driver into. Could also drill a hole like you’re making a new hex cavity and hammer a small torx bit into it.
Yeah I am saying the Omni is definitely the better choice. I think you would rate it even higher if you had gotten the Carbon edition with the larger motor and the good body already, and the carbon stuff. Also try replacing the wheelie bar wheels with R-Design Wheels that are designed for their ladder bar wheelie bars. They fit great on nearly anything. American, I say that lightly, as they probably produce and assemble them in Mexico, they are like every other American company greedy and under delivering. They give us plastic trucks with weak power plants, Mini Maxx, and New Jato so underpowered. The cost of items anything is grossly inflated in America. Corporations are getting rich on our backs as we struggle. I have NO problem buying from other countries. Hope our American companies get a clue soon.

Try setting your drag brake to 5% and rolling the truck by hand. Then set it back to 60% and try again. the 5% should be much less resistance. If it feels the same as 60% it’s the old firmware.

Bro, I’ve run my stock, besides stand offs and drive cups, Omni-Terminator carbon fiber edition on 4s several times… and it hauls ass and has zero problems. My buddy tried 4s in his metal edition OT and cooked his esc😳… but mine with the bigger esc and motor had no problems

For 1 you can find the mjx for as low as 200 if you look in the right places and second I would like to know how they hold up to the original 12th scale king the haiboxing 2997a could you possibly do a short video maybe comparing the 3? Ive been trying to decide between buying the Omni terminator, the hypergo, or buying an 8th scale kraton chassis and building it myself with upgraded parts.

I wonder that too, but with both of these two, that doesn’t seem to be the case (except for the mix end links). The diff gaskets are so you have fresh gaskets if you tune them yourself but if you’re careful you can reuse them a few times.

Hard to say. The stock sorts are all decent. Maybe wait and see if you break anything? If you have the aluminum version, I’d maybe get one of the other bodies.

Honestly I really haven’t run to again yet. Still need to fix the other shocks but I had another guy comment saying he did it and no issues since! All depends on how long of tubing you add. Need that sweet spot.

Great video, answers so many people's most burning RC question! One remark though: Don't you rate the Terminator way too slow? Just taking the gearing, it should run 43 mph with the 24T pinion and 48 mph with the 27T pinion. I got it to 40 and 44, respectively, without trying all that hard, but with a higher C-rate battery. With stock, it ran 38 on 24T (27T doesn't make much sense with the supplied battery).

The MJX hits 47mph on 12T and, well, more on 15T.

Great video brother! I was disappointed with the top speed of both actually. The MJX is slower on 4s out of the box than a $125 Laegendary Thunder on 3s, The terminator is substantially slower even with the pinion swap. But...both of trucks are 10× as durable as the Thunder, if you by chance run over a small bug, even a ant, the Thunder will bend a cvd/dogbone. I worked alot with Laegendary and I know I helped them sell quite a few Thunders and they all but abandoned my channel because we got hit by hurricane weather and couldn't turn out "enough" videos for them! The only Thunder I have left is my speedrun truck and nothing about it is Laegendary but the body shell! Happy Halloween!
I think he got the figures too low for the Terminator. It should be 43 and 47 mph just by using the transmission ratio, and even I as a beginner with no race track got 40 and 44 mph, or 39 mph (on 24T) with the supplied low-C battery.

My 12 year old son has been watching RC videos for a few months now and wants one for Christmas. As he would be new to the hobby I don't want to spend a few hundred on one vehicle (yet). Rlaarlo all the way. CF has been at $212 on Amazon for a while now. No brainer for that price.
Also maybe add battery to your chart? IMHO, the major issue with the Omni-term is lack of space for the larger battery. There’s no ‘good’ spot to move the esc to, despite coming with different battery clips.
But if you’re willing to buy fpv size batteries, this thing on 4s is a monster. On 4s it backflips like it’s on fire.
Also as bad as Rlaarlo customer service is, my experience with MJX is that they have ZERO US customer support. They don’t respond to emails, and they depend completely on their vendors to handle any issues. If you get an mjx from AliExpress, or you’re past the 30 days on Amazon, you’re out of luck. Food for thought.
Very true! The battery thing doesn’t usually bother me like it does some others, but yes that’s a good point. They do now sell a 4400mah battery that fits.
Also, seems I’ve been noticing Rlaarlos service getting better. I believe they now have a dedicated department for customer service and I’m seeing much fewer complaints. Weirdly enough I don’t see too many MJX service complaints either but it’s definitely harder to get ahold of them so it makes sense.
@@DerbyCityRCI’ve never had an MJX problem before, but I got an H8h allrock from AliExpress (after your video turned me on to it) and had a problem with the esc - it ended up being a firmware problem that got updated and solved, I think - but I spent several hours trying to contact them; the seller on AliExpress was supposedly messaging their engineer, contacted customer service at helidirect (because they had a link to mjx customer service on their site). They sent an email to mjx seeing if they could find any working phone or email for mjx customer support - nothing panned out. Seems like if I had a genuine warranty issue with an mjx product id be shit out of luck. Very surprising to me but that’s my experience. Rlaarlo may take days to respond, be very abrupt, have long delays and be resistant to returns, but at least you can reach them if you have an issue.

the rlaarlo is marked at a mini 1/10th scale because of the 10th scale parts
Yup I get it. It’s a 1/10 for other types of cars like a rally or on-road, but it’s small for a monster truck. Some people still feel mislead by that statement though. Not really saying it’s a bad thing, just making sure people know the size.

That’s a good one I should have mentioned. Probably pretty equal actually. Neither are super easy or super difficult. If one was harder I’d probably say the Omni was a little tougher and has more 1.5 mm hex screw heads which can sometimes round off easily. The Goblinator video should give a good idea of servicing the Omni, and the “How the MJX 10208 should have been made” video I did after the v1 release should give some insight into that one.

Okay, I have V1 of the MJX which I picked up on Makerfire $195 even, free shipping (but it took 3 weeks+ to get here). Now, I bought just recently the V2 upgrade kit from Makerfire for $38 even also free shipping. So that get's it under $240 (just barely) but I don't have a 4S LiPo to put in it, only a 3S so, factor that in. Let's see, add 5 X 2, -3 divided by 4, carry the 1, and!?!? Hell, I dunno... What'd you get?

Broken c clips inside the shocks on the bottom of the piston of the rlaarlo ? I still like the omni though
I can’t remember if it was the top or bottom e clip. I believe I showed it in my goblinator video and found what’s hopefully a long term fix. Just adding some fuel line as an extra bumper.

Hmm. My guess is 3/16” ID. I can’t remember if I said what size in that vid. But it was standard small engine fuel line which I think is what I stated above.
@@DerbyCityRC The axle protectors that come on omni for shipping are a perfect fit on the shock shafts, just cut them to about 3-4mm take off the rod ends and slide them over. stops the shocks from bottoming completely, no circlip problems.
Sweet! Some people also use those on the hinge pins to help keep rocks from getting stuck under the diff cups.
I really wish the mjx v2 come to my country fast, because only V1 on stock and its suck😢

Gotta disagree with ya evan this will be the 1st time but i pull doubles with the TURTLE-ATOR easily with the 19t pinion and stock motor but i do see the mjx is easier flippable i do hafta say though that ive only pulled off 1 front flip n i think i just got lucky

@DerbyCityRC undercarriage into front diff bulkhead... I need to install the new diff and get it back running, but the plastic skid plate has eroded and exposed screw heads, which led to polished heads with nothing to drive into.
Oh wow. So even digging into the socket with a pick to remove dirt/debris won’t get you enough to bite into? Luckily since the bulkhead is plastic, they shouldn’t be too hard to remove. You can use a dremel and small cutoff wheel to cut a slot into the screw heads to get a flat head screw driver into. Could also drill a hole like you’re making a new hex cavity and hammer a small torx bit into it.

Yeah I am saying the Omni is definitely the better choice. I think you would rate it even higher if you had gotten the Carbon edition with the larger motor and the good body already, and the carbon stuff. Also try replacing the wheelie bar wheels with R-Design Wheels that are designed for their ladder bar wheelie bars. They fit great on nearly anything. American, I say that lightly, as they probably produce and assemble them in Mexico, they are like every other American company greedy and under delivering. They give us plastic trucks with weak power plants, Mini Maxx, and New Jato so underpowered. The cost of items anything is grossly inflated in America. Corporations are getting rich on our backs as we struggle. I have NO problem buying from other countries. Hope our American companies get a clue soon.
