  • Final Approach and Landing for ILS runway 36 in Riga, Latvia (RIX/EVRA).
Charter flight from Heraklion, Nikos Kazantzakis Airport to Riga, International Airport, we got there when the wind blowing from the North Sea started to be stronger and unstable, as you can see in the video the trend arrow of the Indicated Airspeed was going up and down throughout all the final approach stage.
At this point, I decided to disconnect the Auto Thrust (ATHR) as to get full authority on the thrust delivered by the engines to compensate the changes of wind angle and velocity (direct effect on the Indicated Airspeed of the aircraft) as we flying closer to the ground.
    Enjoy guys!

great landing sir, I have questions why’d you disconnect the auto thrust on landing config?

Quick question: What is that sound at 2:35 repeating 3 times? Thanks in advance!

FMA degradation. This case it was approach category probably from Cat3 to cat 1

Great video, always nice to see landings on A320.
Did you add 2kts to the Vapp just before asking gear down? Below 10.000 ft better ask the PM, and with A/T off you should correct Vapp-5 or minus "X" value according to the wind conditions, correct me if I am wrong please.
If previously discussed in the approach briefing the PM can easily insert in the MCDU when A/T goes off.
    Thanks again for sharing.

In my company the pilot flying can use the MCDU even below 10000ft the autopilot was still on so no prob doesn’t affect safety!
Nope it is not mandatory to apply this correction as flying without ATHR can happen anytime with failure or not ;)

Why did you return to IDLE at 50ft? Not too early?

I also thought the same. Even so, he managed to bring out Ten and Five after Retard. 😃

@@julietmike6004 yes tailwind can be the reason to retard the throttles a bit early

@@julietmike6004 Can be, also it depends on your instant vertical speed in that moment.

Speed trend was increasing I felt it so rather retard directly the thrust.

It is for standard speed restrictions for final approach
