In defense of PVC...
I am an owner of a game store. Part of owning a game store is having a great big case full of minis for the D&D players to use in the back room. I've got all sorts of minis I've painted up for the case, but I keep coming back to PVC because they're damn near indestructible.
Minis get dropped, stepped on, knocked off tables, crammed into a box to be moved to another table... the PVCs, even painted and sealed, have held up to this without issue. Harder materials have had some incidents.
My Blood Ravens box took a tumble at the beginning of the year and a few of them were irreparably damaged. My rinky dink Reaper Bones Goblins can be pitched full force against a wall and bounce back.
As far as I'm concerned, it's an underrated material. I'll happily take a bit less detail for increased resilience.
All expansions will be resin (says on their website), and i've seen the early resin sculpts and they looked amazing (Been playing 40k since i was 12).

In this video, to me the Miniatures look decent enough for a Starter Set. I think it's the right choice to offer PVC in addition to Resin to have a lower price entry point into the game/hobby. Don't forget that a lot of Fallout fans who never played a tabletop before might get this box.
I remember when I was a teen we had metal figurines for our tabletop warfare, so much to the point that if anyone shipped plastic instead of metal the game/figures were generally shunned market-wise. Ah well, as times have changed...
Well, you have Games Workshop to thank for showing that plastic figurines can be truly well-made ... ^_^
Thanks for the preview! This helps greatly in figuring out what to expect. (Also, I appreciate the demonstration of the hot-water-plus-cold-water method. I've straightened out figures with hot water before, but I never thought of dunking it right into cold water afterward, before.) What I wish I could figure out, though, is whether this plastic is the sort that accepts spray primer for painting, or whether I'll have to use a brush-on primer. (Some plastics get tacky if a spray primer is applied.)

I got an alien in my starter set. It was in that empty slot in your box.
Speaking of miniatures, I'm not too happy that the resin set doesn't even come with a Deathclaw and you have to buy it separately
So basically there is one big main gripe, which can be fixed with some hot and cold water? Check.
I do love the models - if I had the money I’d definitely pick up the starter box + BOS army set
Also I believe the Aspirant may be from the BOS Outcast from Fallout 3 - I remember them talking about something like that in the blog/forms
I picked up my box a few weeks ago. I think it must have been an early copy as it had the Alien model inside. I did not experience the quality issues you have with your box. None of my models were bent at all. I think you guys lucked out and got the box put together by the new guy :P
Thanks for not sugar coating the release, guys. I've been disappointed by what I've seen so far.

I'm literally waiting for my copy to be delivered while typing this. I've ordered the specific foam box liner from Feldherr; this replaces the vacuform liner while keeping the original game box.
they really should make a new fallout board/ card game now since the show Seems to be a success!!

I am hyped. I will be getting the resin starter kit as the rule set seems nice and I love the models. It is a bit pricy but so is everything.
The starter sets and the zetan (alien) are the only things available in the PVC everything else is resin, and the red rocket comes with a proper mat, been demoing this game since November last year and so far i'm finding it a lot more interesting than AOS
I’m glad I watched this. I’d would gladly pay $50 for this but those miniatures are not worth the $80 Amazon order price to me.
I think the guy on the right is correct. The model that cooled askew in the factory would have the bend in memory. If the model was pushed by packaging the heating cooling fix would take and not return to the bending position over time.
I'm trying to get a deathclaw for over a year, but all my local retailers either don't stock the game, because it's super niche or they just have the PVC starter box left and I'm not interested in working with PVC.
I also wish, they wouldn't supply the models already attached to the base, since I like reposing minis so that they don't all look the same.
I was going to get this, good thing I'm going to hold off until they improve the figure quality!!

Hairdryer is much faster for correcting bent models.
I pre ordered the starter set and a box of mutants and a bos box from wayland games. It came the weekend but I’ve not opened it yet.........
The thing that annoys me... The resin version of the starter doesn't come with the Deathclaw but the bundles don't tell you that.
I took one look at the pre-release photos of the PVC figures and knew they were going to be crap. The resin looks good though so I ordered that version.
The resin miniatures are a million times better quality!! I'm surprised they even put out these PVC ones
They specifically made PVC starter sets as a cheaper form of marketing to get people's feet through the door.

Once the miniatures are painted up they look great. I was dissapointed with the quality of the Super mutants sledge and the pipe rifle. Otherwise a lot of detail. The other minis bought separately are better quality
They seem to have been rushed in the starter to get them out quicker and quanitity
A better way to bend PVC is with heaters or blower
You've probably found out by now that there is a resin upgrade option through Modiphius, I don't know if that will be available through retailers. The expansions are in resin.
I pre-ordered the resin versions so I am hoping they are better quality. I wanted to see what the game would be like and how much it is tainted by Fallout 4, if it is too much like Fallout 4 I will have to tweak it to Fallout 1&2 or 3&NV otherwise I will just keep the models or get rid of it. Knowing that Frank Horigan is coming out at a later date and hopefully more characters from the early games does give me a bit of confidence that it might not just be based on Fallout 4 as for me it's the worst in the genre alongside 76 as well now.
I would have liked you to compare the resin minis. Maybe in a part 2?
I compared to both resin and FFG's Fallout minis in my unboxing. It's definitely a different style than FFG's, Resin is clearly better in just about every way.
The characters on the character Cards are not painted xD hilarious^^
The figures are ok for a board game, for a tabletop game an absolute no go.
With all this fallout games coming out I wonder if a fallout risk is in the works

If they bothered to look at the website for 2 seconds they would realize that there already is a neoprene version of the game mat. Also the PVC was a bit disappointing but the resin is worth it. At least PVC is an easy fix. Also all the expansions will be in resin and you can order just the resin models from the starter set.
I've recently redeveloped an interest in getting into this game. It's a bummer about the quality of the PVC minis, and I don't believe there's a starter set with the resin minis.
There is a resin starter set but it only comes with the minis. No tokens or dice and stuff.
First tabletop game I invested it, I have chosen the brotherhood of steel PVC starters set + some loose expansion sets because I was / I'am scared the resin will break in no time ( i use resin printers a lot for small mechanical parts, but with tolerances ).
But seeing this unboxing iám a bit worried, yes the hot water or hot air will fix it but lets say it's not cheap. while warhammer does it right? i think. They should put those mini's not assembled in the box instead of factory glued.
The only set in this game that will ever be PVC is the starter set, the brotherhood of steel core box and all the other boxes and boxes to come will be exclusively resin miniatures.
If you've ordered the brotherhood starter bundle it'll come with a PVC starter set box and resin brotherhood core box.
Yeah Noticed it later on, I instantly upgraded it to the Resin Kit that evening. Apparently if you have upgraded you also get the PVC set as a extra because the long wait.
Maybe the PVC version wasn't that great. When I pre-ordered the bundle there wasn't that much info about the PVC Starters Models and Resin Bro-Hood.
Can't wait to play around with it. I probably going to make props too with my resin printers. maybe release the models too for free or for a few buck.

Far too expensive considering the quality and volume of mini's plus paper play mats. This game is right up my ally, but considering what can be purchased for the same money from other games manufacturers, the value to $ ratio just lets this game down.

The pvs are serviceable, but meh. The resin is indeed better detail.
Complaining about these miniatures triggers me when I look at the figurines from the 200(!!!!!!) bucks collector's edition fo76.
These figurines they are showing are neat.
Very disappointed in this sterter set. I'm sorry but warped bases and models, along with poor details, aren't acceptable for a £55-£60 game.
Based upon the renders shown by modiphius and the painted minis they have shown these are rubbish.
Let's hope the resin looks a lot better.

very bad starter set, i was thinking about getting this since i love Fallout but with this bad cast i will pass. I did see some of resin models and they look great but this warping of models reminds me on failcrap from gw . Also rules sims to complicated for me ... with six different distances and huge amount of tokens ....
Some Days ago I ordered the Fallout Heroes series, 4 miniatures. Just to aware you guys, at these Days their miniatures sucks badly, not in terms of details...details are fine, but for example "Dogmeat" Is really really small and Is not printed in 1 or 2 parts ...It has 6 parts!!!! (4 separated legs....THE TAIL...and the body.)...I let you imagine the struggle with the glue...and to guarnish everything you will see the BIG mistake they did printing bases...ilarious. in the end, If you buy Modiphius miniatures be ready for a real Bethesda experience. 😂

Man the game is great, the minis are ok, you w@nt them to play, not as a museum piece, the rule book is a little long but is because it understand that maybe you are completely new to war games, that said man the game is very simple and fun you don’t like all the tokens? Don’t use them they are mainly to remind you of some effects, have fun gamming

A war game with no sprues? HERESY!!! But seriously, more games should do this. Especially with what Fantasy Flight and Mythic Games have managed to pull off. $100 for what you got with a game like MBP versus $60 for ONE squad of space marines, or 10 minis (obvious superiority-complex driven price-gouging is obvious). Sprued minis you are practically forced to paint (or pay exorbitant amounts of money to have painted) because of all the cleaning you have to do on them from taking the parts off. I'll take premade minis over messy sprues any day of the week.
Then you compare a game like this to say, Imperial Assault and the mini qualities cant even compare. Kind of hard to believe they are asking full price for this when the minis don't look to be anything particularly earth shattering.
I would like to make a comment though that I have had no luck at all with the hot water/cold water treatment. I’ve tried it with several games, Tide of Iron, Scythe, and Mythic Battles Pantheon being the latest, and the stuff just goes back “to normal” after a day or two of being fixed. Unfortunately, with a Kickstarter exclusive game like MBP, you don’t have a choice...
Only the regular start box is pre assembled. All the other kits for the game are multi part resin
After doing the hot water fix I'll bang the models in the freezer for half an hour, and it seems to help keep it in place.

So glad I cancelled my pre order, not impressed.

fallout junk for real...the game itself looks good but these minis are atrocious and make you dubious about splashing out 50.00...quid

Massively underwelmed. I don't like the art style and the quality of the minatures. And I don't want to talk about the awfull maps.
A shame this was clearly made for fans that would buy it no matter what and praise it.
This is just to have a cheap entry point. If they had looked at modiphius website for more than 3 seconds they would have seen that pretty much everything in this box has higher quality versions.
This looks like crap for the price.
