@Imabubble yay It's mostly due to how horrendous the GW paintjob for them and other women are. I've seen a good few feminine looking Sisters faces, it's just a matter of knowing how to paint a woman. GW is only capable of painting meathead men thus the box art Sisters, Lelith, female Wyches, etc look like men. Some definitely are bad sculpts though, particularly Repentia and the new Sisters unit.

Yeah, GW sometimes does that. Their release schedule is almost as wacky as pricing. Sometimes they sell "boxed sets" miniatures (think Shadowspear, basically 2 Start Collecting packed together, also some recent Necron/Death Guard are "recycled" moulds, Poxwalkers are literally starter set models, they even come with extra parts for Plague Marine, despite fact they also made "easy to build" 5 packs of those guys, completely different (and IMHO cooler) designs), sometimes we wait months for models on separate sprues (like Ghazgkull). It's Weird. Gee-Wierd, if You will.

Yup, chaos lord with thunder hammer (which is stupid because it's technology CSM shouldn't have and never had access to for like 8 editions). So I guess big wolf guy will be a VAMPIRE WOLFLORD WITH WOLFSABER IN WOLFWOLF CAPE or something equally dumb...

I don't think so? 3d printers can handle that sort of thing just fine (well, resin printers can, anyways). It's recasters who have the trouble with skinny, intricate details.

@@theanimaster Judging by what I've gotten from my Anycubic Photon Mono using 30-dollar resin... It's a little more fragile than plastic, but not that significantly so.
I'm thinking it's a result of 3d printing in a different way. GW never really had incentive to put out higher quality, detailed models until 3d printing hit a point where the minis that were being printed were putting their old plastic miniatures to shame.
Co-op play. Excellent looking minis. Blackstone Fortress was an absolute blast to play and if this is the same (and it looks like it mostly is) it'll be worth buying for the game as well.

"Some limited supply" is een understatement. I refreshed the site of my local store. They had 25. Immediately bought it and once I was done with paying, it was sold out (about a minute after them going live). So yeah, I got lucky.
Presumably it's going to be one of the cases where the stock gets replenished soon, though; given the eighteen months or so of support that BSF got, it'd be insulting for this to not get the same while expansions are turning up.
@@MrStath1986 The guy running my local Warhammer shop said in his briefing this product was tagged as limited edition. So it's entirely possible that the ~19k boxes they sold now are all that will ever be made. It's also possible that it's just indicated as limited edition until they can get some supply issues worked out.
@@Jamie-bj8gk They'll probably do what they do with the Underworlds and Warcry warbands and include them in the Battletome; there does seem to be a lot of cross-connectivity between Cursed City and the Soulblight book, given the 'Rat King' vampire they revealed recently has his own origins in the former, but doesn't seem to be a model specifically for Cursed City.
I think you have to take all the baddies in one big chunk for AoS because they are kinda spread amongst a few of Death's factions, so it might just be easier to have this themed force kept together instead of trying to piece them into the other Death factions and try to balance them from there.

The reason for not having Warcry stats for these minis is that we already have those in Warcry. The vampires are vampire lords, the skeletons are skeletons, zombies are zombies, etc. Sure, some of the heroes are difficult or impossible to field but maybe they will add stuff later?
I strongly suspect the primary reason for a lot of newer models having very thin, delicate protrusions is to make it hard to recast them. That having been said whilst you do need to handle with care they certainly do look great, a lot of other popular miniature companies have archers with arrows that look like they're the diameter of a pool cue.
It does change how you have to store them. Ironically, GW's own foam cases are not a good place to store delicate models and are better suited to tough models like Astartes and Imperial Guard. These delicate models are better stored in a magetic case, where they can stand up and not have to be pushed into some foam.
it looks like the skeletons replace the old naked skeleton warriors and zombies replace zombies if you look at the 4 player campaign. this makes sense considering GW have shown off alternate sculpts that would most likely be available separately. there was one change though that adding a rune marking to the card that has no abilities tide to it with the old LoN warband. by the looks this might be a LoN replacement warband/update
You've got a few hours to wait yet, should be either just before or shortly after 10am pacific I believe. They do it by region so that the US doesn't have to stay awake till 4am to try to get the limited stuff.
I bet the envelope contains the rules for playing Ulfenkarn as a city of sigmar city, it would go well with all the models that are locked to its non existent keyword and would make narrative sense if the party has taken the city back (and the new sisters book added a city already so there is precedent)
I wonder if the increase in slender and/or high detail models is partly about making recasting harder, particularly with stuff that would become highly breakable in resin.

Literally, right after I ordered, the Collection editions were sold out. I looked back at the line behind me... awkward would be an understatement.
The idea of the night and day tracker was used in Order of the Vampire Hunters by Dark Gate Games. That has been out 4 or 5 years now. There is a night and day dice in Village Attacks and some missions take place in the day and some take place by night, and conditions change accordingly. So it has already been in those board games. Excited to see it used here.
This has amazing artwork, beautiful models, fantastic card stock & then they seem to have really cheaped out on the dice. There are so many beautiful dice available but nooo "we want the most boring toothpaste coloured dice available please"
I was lucky enough to order one before it sold out. Looking forward to receiving it but it’s a real shame not everyone will be able to get one unless they rerun
I'm a big fan of the new style of slimmer, finer miniatures in this box. They look much more refined and authentic when compared to overly bulky characters and weapons like the stormcast with their overly thick swords.
Something that's a tad disappointing is that most of the Order models have a keyword that prevents them from getting the normal keyword from the subfaction you put them in. So for example, the Ogre can be used in a Cities of Sigmar army, but he can never get the Tempest's Eye or Hammerhall or whatever keyword to benefit from any synergies.
@@actualwafflesenjoyer The Ogor was just an example, they all have a similar rule. Which is fine from a narrative perspective, but it sucks if you were hoping to use them in matched play.
I've got my money down with my FLGS, but checking on ebay, there are already people offering the minis for ~£20 each, and the full box for ~£250! Scalpers gonna scalp!
It looks like the minion models will all appear in the upcoming Soulblight army book, so I suspect we'll get proper Warcry rules for them with that. The characters might not be in there, but I suspect they'll use the opportunity to include them.

$290 in Australia. Those fuckers. I was worried when you said 60 miniatures. I loved playing Warhammer Quest back in the 90s as a teenager. Was really looking forward to this. Now I'm not sure. Oh and it's sold out, so who knows if they will even print more or just leave it too the scalper wolves.
I was worried the Australia tax would be even higher. Catacombs is $350 and only £125 in the UK / $210 in the US. (Cursed City is also £125 or $200 USD). As it is we’re ‘only’ paying a $20 USD premium, sigh. It’s a 35 quid premium compared to the UK why did I decide to take up GW gaming again after I moved to Australia sigh. Had a chance to play my first game today, while I did make a few mistakes I’m excited to keep pushing through. Mechanically it’s great, also maybe the best push fit models GW had produced. Only a few required me to cut and glue.
For the love of Christ, Uncle Atom. I just bought Warcry Catacombs plus some Infinity stuff. I love monochrome with black and red, and I love gothic setting and vampires... Oh well... *opens wallet and bends over*
$200 is really a fair value for this game. There are so many awesome minis in it. I’m personally disappointed that it’s not $150 like Blackstone Fortress because I’d absolutely buy it at that price to have in my collection. It’s a game I would really love to play, but it’s definitely a commitment, just to build the models, let alone paint them. Definitely interested to see more about it, though. Love me some vampire hunting
Cool video, unfortunately it came out at the wrong time, Drukhari stole my money. From what I recall the manager of my local store told me about blackstone fortress, the extra zip lock bags are most likely for the games "save" mechanic, so you can stop mid game, put everything you currently need in seperate bags, so its easy to restart whenever you want.
It would be really cool if they allowed you to add other Death AoS models as opponents for the game, as they did for WQ: Silver Tower and Shadows over Hammerhal.
If it follows the same pattern as Silver Tower and Blackstone Fortress, there's no need to panic - they were both available right up until the release of the next Quest game. In fact, I think you can still buy BF.
The pre-orders are already completely sold out on the Games Workshop U.S. site. Even the standalone rulebook is completely wiped out. Why do they do this? What's with the limited quantities crap? Now it will create a scalper's paradise on Ebay for people who are desperate to get a hold of the game. Why don't they just make more to begin with?
Probably a mix of underestimated product capacity and limited stockage capacity. Plus kind of playing on the fear of missing out, of which they are quite adept. I would be highly surprised if GW doesn’t do at the very least a reprint of this.
GW can show shareholders that another product sold out - which drives share prices independent of actual profit/loss. I’ll bet that senior management has lots of stock options. The $237 Canadian price made my mind up for me - not worth right now, especially with the work to modify the zombies. Did not sell out in minutes in Canada, which says something

Love the Skeletons. Love 3 of the heroes. Not enough to get on board though. I'm happy about the new Scale. Kinda bored with the heroic stuff, which was mainly a necessity because of material and production process. Might buy the new Witchhunters just for the fun of it.
Thanks for this video. This looks like a fun box. Cool miniatures. Seeing how spindly and potentially fragile some of those models are doesn't turn me off. I enjoyed building Nighthaunts in spite of their fragility. Patience is key. However, because I build and paint at a glacial rate, it would take me at least twenty years to build and paint everything in this box! Not sure I have that much time left......
This looks a lot more similar to Silver Tower (the newer one) than Blackstone Fortress, even though Blackstone was based on Silver Tower. Maybe this is even a blend of the two. But I liked the set up Silver Tower a lot more than Blackstone.
Thanks for the review! I saw some size comparison pictures earlier this day, and I think that those miniatures are not really 32mm anymore, but seemed more like 35mm. Is it so? Do they get the same proteins as the Space Marines / Primaris?
I'm hoping they will have a Witch Hunters war bands for both Warcry and Underworlds. But either way, I'm sure they will have Warcry rules for Cursed City...
I'm second on the list to get a copy with my flgs. So as long as they get at least 2 I'm good to go! The remnants of my old d&d group have been playing a lot of co-op stuff lately; mostly Descent+app and Imperial Assault+app. Hopefully this will be a fun change of pace.
I am an aos death player (mostly nighthaunt but also legions of nagash) and really love the new models... 680 points and sucking up 4 of my leader slots hurts pretty bad but at least it will look cool and 90% of players won't care if you just use the heros as proxys for necromancers and vampire lords etc. Cant complain now that my zombies and skeletons will look awesome.
I'm thankful for GW. I thought about buying this game but know as see the price on this thing I know 100% I'm not buying it. Which is good as I'll have more money for Star Wars Legion and Gunpla.

I think the reason the Death group is a chunk, is due to the Vampy dudes getting a brand new armytome Soon, and GW didn’t want to give too much away.

In my experience the most difficult part to cast was briar rose whip on Briar Queen from underworlds

The 40k rules for the Chaos baddies were a bit limiting too, Had to take Obsidius Mallex and some of his friends as a unit as well.
I went ahead and pre-ordered because it's not a bad price for that many models.

Blackstone fortress was a really fun game. I think it is worth it to try the game and see how you like it.
It looks like the minion models will all appear in the upcoming Soulblight army book, so I suspect we'll get proper Warcry rules for them with that. The characters might not be in there, but I suspect they'll use the opportunity to include them.

I wish it came with the rules for every model from the range could be used, like the original Warhammer Quest.
The only figure in Blackstone Fortress that was on it's own sprue was Obsidius Mallex, and he was released separately as a Chaos Lord or whatever.

I was worried the Australia tax would be even higher. Catacombs is $350 and only £125 in the UK / $210 in the US. (Cursed City is also £125 or $200 USD). As it is we’re ‘only’ paying a $20 USD premium, sigh. It’s a 35 quid premium compared to the UK why did I decide to take up GW gaming again after I moved to Australia sigh.

even worse in Japan. its 28,500 yen, which in aussie bucks is 338.54. Even worse, online retailers in Japan sell everything at MSRP. So no 3rd party retailer discounts.

Had a chance to play my first game today, while I did make a few mistakes I’m excited to keep pushing through. Mechanically it’s great, also maybe the best push fit models GW had produced. Only a few required me to cut and glue.
For the love of Christ, Uncle Atom. I just bought Warcry Catacombs plus some Infinity stuff. I love monochrome with black and red, and I love gothic setting and vampires... Oh well... *opens wallet and bends over*
I'd love to use the bits from the first model with bits from an Inquisitor. Also love the videos keep them up 👍.

$200 is really a fair value for this game. There are so many awesome minis in it. I’m personally disappointed that it’s not $150 like Blackstone Fortress because I’d absolutely buy it at that price to have in my collection. It’s a game I would really love to play, but it’s definitely a commitment, just to build the models, let alone paint them. Definitely interested to see more about it, though. Love me some vampire hunting

Cool video, unfortunately it came out at the wrong time, Drukhari stole my money. From what I recall the manager of my local store told me about blackstone fortress, the extra zip lock bags are most likely for the games "save" mechanic, so you can stop mid game, put everything you currently need in seperate bags, so its easy to restart whenever you want.

It would be really cool if they allowed you to add other Death AoS models as opponents for the game, as they did for WQ: Silver Tower and Shadows over Hammerhal.

If it follows the same pattern as Silver Tower and Blackstone Fortress, there's no need to panic - they were both available right up until the release of the next Quest game. In fact, I think you can still buy BF.

The pre-orders are already completely sold out on the Games Workshop U.S. site. Even the standalone rulebook is completely wiped out. Why do they do this? What's with the limited quantities crap? Now it will create a scalper's paradise on Ebay for people who are desperate to get a hold of the game. Why don't they just make more to begin with?
Probably a mix of underestimated product capacity and limited stockage capacity. Plus kind of playing on the fear of missing out, of which they are quite adept. I would be highly surprised if GW doesn’t do at the very least a reprint of this.
GW can show shareholders that another product sold out - which drives share prices independent of actual profit/loss. I’ll bet that senior management has lots of stock options. The $237 Canadian price made my mind up for me - not worth right now, especially with the work to modify the zombies. Did not sell out in minutes in Canada, which says something
I thinks is awesome if you play all the death stuff is basically 1k of vampires out of the bag. I’m pretty sure is not a competitive 1k army but surely it’s a fun one to play with !
I can't find a store to order it in Europe and I'm already seeing a ton of scalpers gutting this set and selling the minis separately. People are selling these minis for 40-50 euro each on Ebay :(

Models are already unassembled and unpainted. IMO, Games workshop selling these for 100x profit than its cost

Love the Skeletons. Love 3 of the heroes. Not enough to get on board though.
I'm happy about the new Scale. Kinda bored with the heroic stuff, which was mainly a necessity because of material and production process. Might buy the new Witchhunters just for the fun of it.

Luckily my lgs let me just preorder and prepay last Tuesday. And they apparently refund 25% as store credit for preorders. Wish I’d known that before.
Thanks for this video. This looks like a fun box. Cool miniatures. Seeing how spindly and potentially fragile some of those models are doesn't turn me off. I enjoyed building Nighthaunts in spite of their fragility. Patience is key.
However, because I build and paint at a glacial rate, it would take me at least twenty years to build and paint everything in this box! Not sure I have that much time left......
This looks a lot more similar to Silver Tower (the newer one) than Blackstone Fortress, even though Blackstone was based on Silver Tower. Maybe this is even a blend of the two. But I liked the set up Silver Tower a lot more than Blackstone.
Thanks for the review! I saw some size comparison pictures earlier this day, and I think that those miniatures are not really 32mm anymore, but seemed more like 35mm. Is it so? Do they get the same proteins as the Space Marines / Primaris?
I'm hoping they will have a Witch Hunters war bands for both Warcry and Underworlds. But either way, I'm sure they will have Warcry rules for Cursed City...

I'm second on the list to get a copy with my flgs. So as long as they get at least 2 I'm good to go! The remnants of my old d&d group have been playing a lot of co-op stuff lately; mostly Descent+app and Imperial Assault+app. Hopefully this will be a fun change of pace.

I am an aos death player (mostly nighthaunt but also legions of nagash) and really love the new models... 680 points and sucking up 4 of my leader slots hurts pretty bad but at least it will look cool and 90% of players won't care if you just use the heros as proxys for necromancers and vampire lords etc. Cant complain now that my zombies and skeletons will look awesome.
You should play the game! I had great fun doing the WHQ: Silver Tower campaign as a solo game -- good pandemic entertainment.
I enjoyed Silver Tower too, and Blackstone Fortress - they're very enjoyable games.

I don't get it. Some rumors have it that Cursed city is a stand alone boardgame and the Legion Imperialium is an expansion pack to that very game. Me so confused
