Jungle Trekking in Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai): Hiking to Karen Village & Bamboo Rafting

- In this video we go on a two day trekking adventure in the Chiang Mai jungle! The tour was supposed to be a group tour, but as nobody else joined our group it was basically a private tour. We had really fun, but also exhausting two days trekking between Chiang Mai and Pai. Our tour guide Wan was a great hiking companion and super knowledgeable about the surrounding area, as he’s from a village close by. Wan showed us a lot of cool plants, herbs and fruits while trekking, which was very interesting and also very tasty.
After the first day of trekking, we stayed in a local Karen village. We had some great food and the view of the starry sky was amazing. The next day we continued trekking until coming to a river, where we took a bamboo raft back to our driver, who took us back to our hostel.
Thank you to Wan and also Chiang Mai Trekking by Piroon for the great time! This is the tour we booked (not sponsored):
www.chiangmai-trekking.com/Tr.... The tour usually includes a visit to an elephant sanctuary, but we decided to skip this part (which was possible, because we were basically on a private tour).
We’ve been to Chiang Mai before in 2016 and we really love this city, especially for its wide variety of food! Chiang Mai is a great starting point for exploring northern Thai cuisine, as well as being surrounded by beautiful nature and being home to many temples and attractions.

This one is so cool. Mr.Wan seems to know his way around the jungle like his backyard. The rafting looks fun too. Love it!
Thank you! 😊 Yes, we had a great time and we learned a lot! 🙂
Mr. Wan is definitely a trek guru. He could maneuver the raft professionally alone but he let his passenger experience the rafting touch. Cool trip!
Thank you both for visiting Thailand and wishing you all a safe journey.🤗🙏
Thank you! 😊

Were you able to charge your phones at all where you were sleeping? Thanks :)
Thank you, hope you have a great time! 😊 We didn't have access to electricity when we were there, so make sure to bring a power bank and maybe also a head/flashlight, if you have one 🙂
Luckily no-one asking for the manager in Karen Village 😆 Nice video ✌

I recomment to trekking on chiangdao national Park ( doi luang chiangdao) It's sobeutiful mountain in chiangmai.
Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂
😃😃😍😍
🤗✌️
I really love your video.. im going to chiang Mai this December with my 8 years old son. Im wondering if he can make it...cuz trekking looks little too hard for him.. Can you give me your thought on 8 yrs old son trekking for 1night 2days ??(btw he is 126cm tall, 22kg weight 😅)
We're glad you enjoyed our video! 😊 Unfortunately it's very hard for us to judge if the trek is suitable for 8 year olds, as we don't have much experience with kids 😅 It's not an extremely hard hike for adults, but there's still a lot of walking to do, so it might be too much. It would probably be best to ask the tour company directly if they have a recommendation. They might even be able to customise the route to make it more suitable, if you're going on a private tour. Hope you have a great time in Chiang Mai!
Really nice Thailand 😍
Try to next time Sri Lanka....
👋👋 Stay Safe and Healthy
We are actually currently in Sri Lanka! Videos coming soon! 🙂

Lovely video. I'm off to Thailand in February and I'm terrified of spiders. I wonder if you saw any on your trek especially sleeping in the hut?
Thank you! 🙂 We were actually pleasantly surprised because we didn't see a lot of spiders. Of course there's no guarantee and it probably depends on the time of year too. We also didn't encounter any in our hut (even though the windows are completely open), but we had the large net to protect us against insects. Hope you have a great time on your trip!
@@ZoeandSimon thank you so much. I hope I will have half the fun you having. Great videos
No problem and thank you! 🙂

Why don't come to Pai hippie vibes town
We love Pai and we were there in 2016, but we decided not to go this time so that we have more time to explore Isan afterwards 😊
@@ZoeandSimon In Isan has many festivals, such as Rocket festival in Yasothon province on May (if not have much Covid19)
Zoe! I dont want to make you feel unconforatable or get offend...but do you ever heard anyone said that you are very a look like "Pam Besley" from the office? this video suddenly just pop up torecommend me after i saw my idol Dwight! CPR rhythm episode.
It's all good, it's not the first time that someone has commented this actually 😁
£300 , you got ripped off
Two problems guys: you don't say where you've been exactly and you can't just stop framing yourselves all the time! Get a grip.
