I had an upper and lower aveoplasty this past year, and the upper proceedure I'd swear they were using water for their local anesthesia because besides one small corner in my mouth I felt all of the pain for the entire process even after a 4th shot which was like a hot needle into my brain. I'm trying to guage if there has been skme form of malpractice where they used the incorrect means to dull the pain. The final work was so ridiculously crooked too as well as sagging gums that still dont feel right with very low blood flow into those area's now. They also punctured my sinus cavity during the initial extractions but never bothered with more xrays nore did they reference the mri scan I had done. Id head him say he thought it was puss from an infection and had perscribed me some antibiotics. But he still sewed it all up at the time, and ive heard othe places dont sew thi ga up for suspctwd infections. I realized it was flem from my sinuses after a vigorous rinse weeks later ripped it open and flooded my sinuses wirh mouthwash. It was exceedingly painful to say nothing of the mental anguish with the month of waiting between appointments. Then they filed off half the molars of the final dentures to make them fit. Its been an utter disaster being rreated at thia VA in Richmond.
Let me ask was this a mandibular molar tooth? It is most likely due to injection in the parotid gland which results in temporary facial palsy. I will make a detailed video on this explaining facial palsy.
@@studywiththedentist In first sitting no swelling and pain while they giving anesthesia but second time immediate swell after anesthesia in teeth gum. If it’s a retreat root canal tooth on upper premolar #12 #13 can infiltration be used there? I’m asking because I have lingual nerve damage and I don’t want to make it worse I recently got a never block for bottom molar to be filled and I think that’s what cause my lingual nerve damage to be worse
It depends on many things. Like for example why has the RCT failed, was there any pulp remaining etc. Depending on that, you may or may not need anesthesia during your retreatment. But when treating upper teeth, mostly an infiltrate is more than enough. Lingual nerve is linked to the lower teeth specifically molars (while giving a block). So the lingual nerve will not be disturbed while treating the upper tooth unless the Dentist decides that it is necessary to block the lingual nerve due to some other reason. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for responding that does help. I did have another question I got a filling on bottom molar 18 and I am having major sensitivity anytime something touches where the filling was done I went to a couple dentist and they said the filling would just most likely need to be redone the only issue is since I have lingual nerve damage I don’t want to get a nerve block.. a doctor suggested PDL but what is the difference between Inflitration and PDL?? And to no cause nerve damage anywhere else which one is safer??
PDL injection is an injection that will help the dentist to place the rubber dam and allow for a slight anesthesia around the tooth without giving you a block. If the Dentist thinks, he can also give an infiltrate. But that totally depends on the case and situation. If the Dentist thinks that is the best decision and he can get the job done without compromising your experience or the filling, than he will do so. Hope this helps
I have explained about the infiltration in this video. PDL injection is more of a supplementary injection. Your Dentist can explain it to you better by demonstrating you the procedure.
It depends. But usually an infiltrate on a single maxillary tooth suffice and I also personally give an infiltrate while working on a single maxillary tooth.

@@studywiththedentist so they’re the one where it’s the area where the lip meets the gum? I had a filling weeks ago on the same tooth and that’s where they did it. So it will be just like a filling? Sorry I’m asking so many questions I just want to be comforted that I’ll be ok since I’ve never had a root canal before

If performing a restoration on max first pre molar, would be infiltration or nerve block?
It depends. But usually an infiltrate on a single maxillary tooth suffice and I also personally give an infiltrate while working on a single maxillary tooth.
For a single mandibular molar (simple filling) wouldn't an infiltrate work just as well? Blocking so many teeth and the to gue is surely overkill?
You are absolutely correct. For filling purposes, buccal infiltrate will be enough .
@@studywiththedentist Thanks, I thought so! Let's hope my dentist agrees on the 17th haha

I would personally recommend you to read the book recommend by your institute

What kind of injection is needed for a root canal on the upper left lateral incisor?
Field block (aka infiltrate) around the buccal side of the incisor, is more than enough for a normal root canal procedure
@@studywiththedentist what about central incisor the tooth next it? I may need one there too
You can give a separate injection over there too.

Yes. It's actually the part where mucosa meets the gingiva. That's where we give the injection.
Don't worry, your Dentist knows what he is doing :)
