Not that this is a bad thing, just a misleading title. It should be "behind the scenes with supercars medical heroes" or something like that.

@@ocram7500 This infers that the video is specifically behind the scenes of the accident. Like the few 30 seconds where you can see the marshalls and medical team attending to the accident.
"Behind the scenes" infers that the video is of what is not seen on tv for whatever the specific subject is - in this case Mostert's crash.

@@JB-vd8bi several of the marshals in the post Chaz hit were injured and because the communications marshal was one of them everyone went to the car delaying their treatment a little bit.

I remember watching this live and there was literally no information provided about how the flagies were doing. you can see the car takes out the fence and rips the cover off the top of the station. would be nice to hear supercarrs talk about what they have done for marshall safety.

Yes Dr Carl Le you sir are an absolute superstar and Chaz Mostert couldn't have been in better hands. One can only imagine what it must have been like for the first respondents to the late Formula 1 racing driver Niki Lauda's horrific crash at the Nürburgring German Grand Prix in 1976. Lauda's survival was both miraculous and phenomenal and is testimony to just how tough a man he was. Because it's not the crashing that defines a human, more-so it is the recovery and rehabilitation that follows where the will and courage is put to the sword and ultimate test of ones character.
That was a poor start by Dr Carl's driver at Adelaide, on top of qualifying at the bottom of the field.
I saw him clip the apex and thought; this is a top-series, isn't it?

He did, broke his left one. I'd say he didn't let go of the wheel fast enough. Those wheels can be absolutely brutal sometimes

Holy crap I have been watching Motorsports for 30 plus years in the states and have never seen all four tires be ripped off a sedan car
A testament to this track really. It's so tight and so technical
They are NOT a sedan car. Just a spaceframe with sheet metal pop riveted together. The suspension fails though in that sort of accident is inevitable and within reason helps. Though the destiny of those wheels with suspension attached is a concern.

I'm impressed with all the safety these days. Much much better than in the last century. Great to have a full team of medical personnel learning of all the car's safety features, really excellent.
I live in the United States and Watch NASCAR and seeing this reminds me of Newman’s wreck but at least we knew that Mostert was going to be ok

I did Motorsport fire, rescue and medical for 7 years, it’s great to see this side of the V8’s
Take close look at his left thigh during the crash. I think it was the second impact where his left Femur snaps and the lower thigh just rattles about like a rag doll. I'm hoping he didn't feel that in the drama of what's going on. But I expect it sure would have hurt the first time he tried to move the leg when the dust settled. And obviously, as he tried to climb out. Note also just before he tries to climb out the upper thigh swelling. That is a vivid reminder to me of when my son broke his femur. What a testament to the inbuilt safety in racing cars these days that all he got was a busted leg.

I believe he broke a wrist too. Horrible accident, and incredible that he can make a recovery. I've broken a femur aswell, and can testify that its not enjoyable.
They need a radio with a small area of range to talk to drivers that have stopped (20m). Would save time finding who needs help.

That was such a scary crash. Never seen it from this view. Even more intense. You got rocked hard. Suck a tricky track. One mistake turns into 4 there. Take care driver. Glas to see the improvements. Always growing.
Hindsight is 2020 and armchair quarterbacking is easy, but how they didn't have full containment seats and allowed the solidly mounted metal gearshifter to be positioned directly next to their knee, is beyond me

Wow I’ve never thought about the fact you can dislocate knees but it makes sense. I’ve always worried about the drivers feet and face, maybe shoulders. It’s an easily made mistake, this crash is. I’ve made it multiple times while sim racing.

Much easier at that point to cut the car away from the driver. Cars can be replaced, drivers cannot.

As someone who isnt from australia, WHY ARE THE BARIERS SO CLOSE TO THE TRACK
That's just part of Bathurst and what makes it unique and why it's one of the toughest tracks in the world. It's only a racetrack 15% of the year on the side of the hill, the other 75% of that time it's a public road. There is no run off room on the side of a mountain hence why the barriers are so close to the track. That's why the Bathurst 1000 is one of the most grueling and difficult races in the world. It requires millimetre precision for 6-7 hours to even finish, let alone win. The section where Chaz crashed is the most difficult part of the track and has 0 room for mistakes.
Because it's an actual race track. The barriers are there so you don't fly off the mountain. It's recognised as one the toughest tracks and enduro races

Where did he crash I can’t work it out? and Bathurst is poorly designed anyway, especially the elevation of the corner on the fastest straight, the braking if you don’t follow the racing line is all wrong.

Stupidcars? Safe ? No way. IF that had to be a production based car the damage to the car would have been far less. It just tore all the pop riveted sheet metal out. The damage to Chas may have been less as more shock would have been absorbed. IF it had been the drivers side the damage to Chas would have been far worse.
The cars are junk, yes the rollcages are strong but you can build a production based car as strong if not stronger. That body shell is not their for decoration but as part of the cars strength. My 920 kilo Sports Sedan was stronger in the passenger area. Though not ideal in a front or rear accident .And neither are stupidcars Just 400 kilos fatter!
Find a production car that goes racing speeds and then wreck it at those speeds. I guarantee you that anyone in the production car is just as banged up, if not worse, than this driver was...
Honestly, how this idiotic comment made it 9 months without someone calling it out is kind of depressing.
Well you see chaz was going over 200 kmph when he crashed, you crash a car at that speed and see if you get banged up or not. But still did you see the actual impact? He bounced off one wall, bounced off another wall then nearly fell forward on his roof. You see V8 SuperCars have safety gear but sometimes the safety gear dosent work how ya want it to..FOR REFERENCE…in March of this year at the perth Supernight in Western Australia Scott Pye crashed and even though mainly the back got damaged he had a slight nose bleed and was limping a bit. You see safety gear like that was introduced to V8 Supercars in the late 80’s and when dick Johnson crashed in the 90’s his car had all of the modern safety gear but he STILL HAD A LIMP!
Rule 1 at bathurst.. dont hit the wall. Anyone who hits the wall should be banned from bathurst especially when theres no other cars you can blame it on
