Great explanation, I will definitely give this a try. I’ve done a lot of research on bunion taping, toe spacers etc. First time I’ve seen a really good explanation of the underlying musculoskeletal issues. Thanks!
Best video on bunion taping! I was suffering with a splint every night in bed as it was very painful. But now I see that it's no benefit. I'm going to do flat foot exercises and toe abduction exercise and taping like this video to build my foot up over time and prevent a future surgery! Thank you so much!
Thank you! Now I know why I woke up with bunion pain! It must comefrom my sacroiliac issues. It's my back, hip, knee, foot and now bunion! Thank you! Going to get tape now! 🤞
Wow I have been dealing with some really severe bunion issues and instantly felt relief having use this technique! Thank you very much for sharing it!😘❤️💕
This is the best video out there on this subject. She explains the key points so well, I was able to follow step by step and with really surprisingly great results. The only question I have is it is possible that I’m one of those people that needs this technique applied in reverse, since the arch seems to pull/rotate to the outside of the foot. Can you make a video with the reverse taping technique? Thank you! Much appreciated.
Don’t have a lot of money, but I found that electrical tape (lol) has worked pretty well for this and stays on through a work shift with lots of walking!
I am a dancer as well and I used to breakdance. As I'm heading toward the age 40, I realized I have a bunion and it's big, imo. Now I'm struggling to find a proper wide feet friendly shoe for casual use. This look like a good solution for me, using a tape over night. Thanks maam and er, you have a dazzling hyponetic eyes too ;)
Oh, Lisa I am so grateful for your video. This is absolutely the best video for helping my bunions. I have a sloping, bumpy backyard and over the last two years I have been doing yard work back there. Standing or squatting on that ground with my feet in odd positions with the extra force of the land sloping is probably what helped develop my bunions. When you showed how the leg and foot should be positioned, I realized I had contributed to my bunions. The taping explanation was excellent. You have eased my fears about caring for my feet. THANK YOU AGAIN ! Sincerely, Christine

This is very cool. Have been using the toe spacer for a while and it only slightly helps symptoms because it also has a cushion over the bunion. Your explanation of the realignment makes so much sense. I'm looking forward to feeling how my vision reacts to this tape :)
I have bunions causes by extremely flat feet. I’ve been using toe spacers in hopes of correcting it only to come across this video and find that I may be worsening my condition. Would this technique work for me?
I found out the REAL cause of my bunion + it's not tight shoes! I've had a bunion getting worse for a few years now along with back aches...guess what? I went to chiropractor for my back + found out my right leg was slightly shorter than the left which was due to work related causes. My pelvis had shifted thereby causing my leg balance to shift too. When this happened my foot needed to compensate for it's balance + eventually caused the metatarsal bone to shift...causing the bunion to develop! Makes more sense to me now why I only had a bunion on one foot. You can figure this out by yourself... look at the bottom of your shoes after wearing them for awhile if you see the sole of the shoe has worn down on the inside but not on the outside of the shoe this could show a imbalanced alignment of your spine or pelvis + the way you walk + why you developed a bunion! The taping shown in this video looks like exactly what i need. It so frustrating why so many people were told to use toe spacers when that's not the solution at all.
I have a question what about if you don't have an arch on both feet?? Do you know anything about that because my friend has bunions on both feet but no arch he says it's his shoes when he was growing up but I've seen he's having trouble walking and his right knee tends to hurt a lot he's 59 years old and in pain also a marine vet who isn't getting the right treatment. Any suggestions please I really want to help him before he ends up in a wheel chair 😢😢
Hi Lisa, It makes a lot of sense and I tried it at night before sleep. After 3 hours, I was wakened up by the soreness and pain around the bunion area and also my arch. I swear I didn't make it very tight, only some slight stretch of the tape as you demonstrated in the video. I felt good and my toe was lined up nicely when I finished taping, but it seems that wearing it for some hours isn't a good idea? Is it not for daily life wearing? Or does it suggest I have other issues than a bunion? Is a certain level of discomfort normal, like orthodontic treatment? Is it true what I felt is the process of the taping is "correcting" my bones?
My foot rolls to the outside & I walk on the side of my foot. I have a bunion & bunionette on my right foot only. It's the side I have a sciatic/piriformis issues. It is getting more painful & moving the next toes over & up. Will this technique help in any way?

Hey Lisa, great video! I'm a 25ish yo male with the precursors of bunions (genetics). A trainer mentioned that taping, inserts and braces, which I use, act as a crutch and will not strengthen my ankle/arch. Thoughts? Experienced weightlifter, and when I train feet/ankle form they are tired almost immediately. Cheers, thank you for what you do.

First of all, thank you very much for this informative video!! I´ve never used toe spacers myself even tough it was recommended to me, because I found them uncomfortable. Would you suggest taping the feet just for class, or for everyday life (all day)?
Thanks for you videos. I have not only bunions on the big toe but also my fourth toe is bent slightly indicating I have a problem there too. Is there a way to correct that with tape?
holy .... i just taped it.. and it looks way better. i was always thinking it was my toe just bending with the bunions. This is day 1, I'll update later! -- also thank you. I just purchased a bunion splint, are splints alright?

I'm not a doctor, but fellow bunion sufferer. Afters hours of videos, PT, and doctors, I would say this taping is for daytime and walking. No benefit to toe correctors at night except pain relief.
I dropped a dryer on my big toe this summer. It bruised my toenail at it's base and caused minor soreness in the joint but I could bend my toe just fine so I let the toenail fall off and cut back on my hours at work for about a month. From compensating for the pain, I assume, I started getting a light burning sensation just under the skin on the top of my foot and to the inner side, just behind the joint. I woke up this morning and I think my big toe is starting to point inward. I think I need to exercise it, and maybe even tape it but I am not sure if I should fear the pain. I wonder, would a toe spreader be applicable in my situation?
Hello Lisa, I've enjoyed the video very much. However, I suspect my problem comes from the hip: the tight bone is definitely rotated in, my hip bones are projected foward, which makes my knees rotate in, and ends with me putting all my weight completely on the inside of my foot. I followed the link to the book you're selling, and before buying I just needed to know if it talks about kinesio techniques for helping with those problems. I searched for a way to contact you in the site, but couldn't find it. Hope you see this.
Hi ,I was wondering if you found a solution . My doctor said my feet pronating and i use techniques for bunion tapping and i love it but not sure if there is a way to address pronation of the feet .
So weird seeing this I was walking home from work last night and had to keep stopping my small toe oh my days quite swollen when I got home was in agony but I did buy just a cheapish pair of shoes day before correct size just cheap and guess this is why ,not something I ever suffer with and I don't normally buy cheap shoes and won't be again, get what you pay for I guess ( and more bunion on my small toe 😜 ❤️)
What if I'm flat footed...can I still use this example or option...I'm only asking because you mention " A arch lift reminder " ? I have the exact same look as the person you show here in this video...only I'm battling with " Fred Flintstone syndrome- flat footed "
I feel like the tape does nothing, it's far to slight a pressure to make a difference. Do you have any suggestions? I've had bunions my whole life. I had surgery to straighten them, but they are getting worse again.
Hi Mary, It can sometimes take some practice to find the right tension on the tape. You can try to increase the tension to feel the pressure. As mentioned in this video, this taping technique will only help if you can manually reposition your first metatarsal yourself. If there have already been bony changes this will not work. If you have had surgery and your bunions are still getting worse, the issue is usually found further up the chain. If this is the case, it would be more appropriate to focus on a hip conditioning and/or gait retraining program. I hope this helps!
where can I find that kind of tape? My bunion has been around for a while, along with a hammer toe next to it. I would like to fix the bunion before I get the toe fixes. how long does the tape sta on befor replacing it? best wrapping I've seen yet! Marguerite
This taping is on a bunion in its early stages. In a worse case scenario, the bunion would be beyond taping. This is a bunion in its early stages that can benefit from repositioning with tape.
So refreshing to listen to someone actually explaining the actual problem and not give shoes the fault if developing bunions. I have bunions because I have no bridge and my instep roll in. If someone tell me again it is because i wear the incorrect footwear I will kill them
Hey guys wondering if I could have some advice. I love using the tape as it really helps the pain during the day but during the night, there is almost a burning sensation on the top of my big toe. I really don't know why and wonder if anyone here knows cure?
I’d recommend getting lapiplasty surgery, which will permanently remove the bunion. I recently had the procedure and am posting update videos if anyones interested
As you mentioned, the cause needs to be addressed. Can you suggest any foot exercises to strengthen the arch? Would that help reduce the big toe spreading?
It feels fine but if you want to wear shoes it may not feel so good my bunions end up hurting me due to this taping so I did a variation of it and I don't have any issues. I'm still compressing but not directly across. And I'm not bringing the tape from the heel to the bunion because then that pulls in a different direction it's a little confusing
I had bunion pain. What I did was hot water with hot towel over the pain. Pain is a trigger. To release the trigger the nerves along the toe area must be relieved. Doesn’t cost a cent
The suggested $77.95 for a 4 pack of Dynamic Tape Original is not a realistic option for most people who suffer from bunions. Thanks but, I’ll keep searching.

Another channel just answered those very questions... water proof adhesive so showers or swimming is ok. Use no oils or oily lotions though. Leave on until it begins to fail around the edges, look dirty or if you get itchy. Should last about 5 days or up to 10 for the really expensive professional tapes. Let your skin breath and rest a day or 2 before reapplying. I'll be trying the Dollar Store brand at $1.25 a roll vs $25. A roll for the professional stuff.
where do i find information on the relationship of bunions and hip, thigh knees please? I stated to my physician that I felt that it was radiating from or to my knee hip and possibly lower back. I would love to avoid surgery if possible by correcting the primary issue. I'm scheduled a month from now. I've belly danced barefoot for 20yrs. Thank you

Hey,
I slept with my foot wrapped like this and when I woke up my feet hurt. Is this a side effect of it healing, or should I not continue to do this?
Maybe you stretched too much?
I feel like the tape does nothing, it's far to slight a pressure to make a difference. Do you have any suggestions? I've had bunions my whole life. I had surgery to straighten them, but they are getting worse again.
Hi Mary,
It can sometimes take some practice to find the right tension on the tape.

Marguerite
Thank you so much. Great understanding of anatomy.
Hi I got the dynamic tape here in the U. S. but where can we get the white tape your using ? Thanks.
This taping procedure isn 't being shown on an actual bunion. Please provide this method with a worse case scenario of a bunion.
dklb06 that is a bunion. Just not in the advanced state you’re looking for.
This taping is on a bunion in its early stages. In a worse case scenario, the bunion would be beyond taping. This is a bunion in its early stages that can benefit from repositioning with tape.
@@3mandible A foot, bunion, and the entire body will always benefit from proper aligning with taping, bracing or other mode of alignment.
Is it for 24 hrs ?
So refreshing to listen to someone actually explaining the actual problem and not give shoes the fault if developing bunions. I have bunions because I have no bridge and my instep roll in. If someone tell me again it is because i wear the incorrect footwear I will kill them
Hey guys wondering if I could have some advice.
I love using the tape as it really helps the pain during the day but during the night, there is almost a burning sensation on the top of my big toe. I really don't know why and wonder if anyone here knows cure?
How long does it take taping the bunion to correct it? Also, once corrected, how do you maintain the alignment? Thanks!
Good question…..I like to know this as well
I’d recommend getting lapiplasty surgery, which will permanently remove the bunion. I recently had the procedure and am posting update videos if anyones interested
thank you, gonna try!
Excelente video, felicitaciones y saludos desde Colombia, me gustaría que lo hiciera en español.
Gracias.
Por favor pido lo mismo
Por favor en español
Osvaldo desde E.U.,si se pudiera en español ,gracias.
As you mentioned, the cause needs to be addressed. Can you suggest any foot exercises to strengthen the arch? Would that help reduce the big toe spreading?
When you do this taping. Can you walk with it and how long do you need to keep this tape on. Can we do it ourselves. Please reply
What if i already have a bunion should i do this method
I already have a bunion
It feels fine but if you want to wear shoes it may not feel so good my bunions end up hurting me due to this taping so I did a variation of it and I don't have any issues. I'm still compressing but not directly across. And I'm not bringing the tape from the heel to the bunion because then that pulls in a different direction it's a little confusing
So when are you saying I should do this kind of taping? When I'm wearing pointe shoes? Or in flat shoes as well? Any time i am dancing?
Laura )
@@TheBalletBlog-LisaHowell So it won't actually fix it?
How long do you keep that on?
I had bunion pain. What I did was hot water with hot towel over the pain. Pain is a trigger. To release the trigger the nerves along the toe area must be relieved. Doesn’t cost a cent
Wish you made house calls to Al!😁
The suggested $77.95 for a 4 pack of Dynamic Tape Original is not a realistic option for most people who suffer from bunions. Thanks but, I’ll keep searching.
probably electrical tape would work
How much tension is on the tape as you wrap?
What if the person was born with them? But is a dancer?
They are not painful what so ever...only if squished into narrow shoes
Yes me my mom my grampa and my uncle😔
I do have bunion and tailor bunion, how i can do in the case.
I’d recommend getting lapiplasty surgery, which will permanently remove the bunion. I recently had the procedure and am posting update videos if ur interested
Gabriel Monet thank you very much
How often do I need to change the tape? Can I shower and do all activities in this tape?
Another channel just answered those very questions... water proof adhesive so showers or swimming is ok. Use no oils or oily lotions though.
Leave on until it begins to fail around the edges, look dirty or if you get itchy. Should last about 5 days or up to 10 for the really expensive professional tapes. Let your skin breath and rest a day or 2 before reapplying.
I'll be trying the Dollar Store brand at $1.25 a roll vs $25. A roll for the professional stuff.
@@evarogers8775 thanks. No Dollar store in my country. I'll go to sports store to get it.
@@teddyniu ouch! I hate paying more than I have to. Where are you?

@@evarogers8775 is KINESIOLOGY TAPE the same as Dynamic tape?
where do i find information on the relationship of bunions and hip, thigh knees please? I stated to my physician that I felt that it was radiating from or to my knee hip and possibly lower back. I would love to avoid surgery if possible by correcting the primary issue. I'm scheduled a month from now. I've belly danced barefoot for 20yrs. Thank you
Where can the tape be purchased?
Thanks
Omg so are you saying that using my toe separators are actually making my bunions worse?
No doubt.
How long to wear the bunion tape?
Se ve que es un video buenísimo pero está en inglés, pero al menos pude mirar como hacen el taping, formidable. Me gustaría conocer un poco más pero como hago para poderlos ver en español. El taping para mí es fantástico. Gracias.
hi I just want to ask about the bunion treatment Dynamic taping how long did it take to heal your foot using this method ???
Im not a dancer .... so will the report help?
I would love to wear cute sandals, especially since it’s now summer, but I feel so uncomfortable because of my bunions 🤧 they aren’t as bad like pics I have seen of others, but still it’s at least noticeable and I hate it😩😣
