Great video, as always. Followed your advice step by step. Couldn't get both cameras to work simultaneously. Checked permissions, both equal and full. Tried Format MJPEG Vs YUYV, no change. Options set to 0.0.0.0, both cameras show up, no problem. Lastly, changed Framerate to 5 Vs 15 and both work just fine simultaneously. So the net is that the data rate of the 1st was overrunning the server's ability to deal with 2 at a time. Best to you, Barry

Thanks for this video! It really helped me out. I'm running two logitech C920s but I can only run them in 720p otherwise one will quit working, the server crashes for that camera. I'm wondering if there is a way to get full resolution and possibly framerate while running these cameras. I had octoprint running on an old laptop but switched to the Pi when the 4s came out. It just seems easier to keep up with updates by using the Pi. I don't understand why I'm having troubles. The USB bus should have plenty of capacity and the CPU pretty much idles while everything is running. Also plenty of ram (8GB). I switched to a powered USB hub thinking there was a power constraint but that didn't help.@@lucianoag999

    • @espressomatic

Camera stack is part of the OS. Octoprint will prompt for updates - there isn't one right now. OS can be updated like any Debian/RPi OS from the command line at any time. If you have something really old running Buster, you'll reflash to get onto Bullseye.

most people using USB cameras will want to edit the usb-default and change the format from YUYV to MJPEG.

It would be great if you mentioned the latest release is from October 2023, so while the "newest" not so much "new"

I miss my cameras/Octoprint, I went over to klipper a few weeks ago and i find crowsnest to be absolute garbage, 3 printers, only one camera works

Sorry to hear that, I could get 2 cameras to work, but I've never really used them very long.

Nah..Octoprint always felt like a bloated fossile. Once it was the only thing we had and it was good, but nowadays it looks like Octoprint stumbles far behind the other Printer OSes in a try to keep up but fails.

@@ChrisRileyI agree somewhat but for this use case the common chinese boards that they use to run klipper barely qualifies as an sbc as far as compute power to run any decent single camera. I suspect people with multiple of the shelf printers who want a good multicam solution will always choose a pi 4 b and use octo. I suspect pi5 adoption is going to be much lower due to the rp foundations catering to big business during the chip shortage. In Canada a 4 gig pi4 was 300 plus tax for the longest time. It's regular price is 150 though as I've never met a Canadian who got a full pi board for the 35 dollars I've always heard about. The pico w costs 25 here as a frame of reference. It's a great mcu but the debugging solution is complete ass. Plus I prefer modern c++ to interpreted languages. Python is fun for making crappy nes knock off games if you can't draw pixel art well haha

The C270 should have serial numbers. Can you see the camera directly from the URL in a browser? It could be the host setting I show. Look for 0.0.0.0 in the config.
