I got into brazilian music with 'Garota de Ipanema' back in late 60s early 70s (can't remember exact date). I was a 10 or 12 years old kid and got hooked with the soft rythm played by a portorican trio's version (yes, I am from Puerto Rico). Fast forward to 1978 and got my hands on Sergio's Brasil 77's version of 'water of March' and that opened up my ears to that rythmic yet romantic music, and those ladies vocals. And I learned about Brasil 66 and Lani Hall... And learned about Jobim and Gal Costa and joao Gilberto and do many others.. and thank God for allowing me to listen and enjoy this music. God bless Brazil and his People and his music.

Just saw Sergio and Co. last year at Yoshi's in Oakland. Most excellent as always. My girfriend was not familiar with Sergio or Bossa Nova in general. She is now a true believer...

Fui-lhe contemporâneo no ginásio do Colégio Anchieta ( Nova Friburgo - RJ - Brasil ) onde demonstrou a todos sua incrível musicalidade através de um piano que ficava em seu Teatro. Isto no início da década dos anos 50. Tempos idos mas que me fizeram jamais esquecê-lo. Hoje Músico Universal que nos honra. Super gostoso ouvi-lo. Obrigado pela contagiante Arte. Seen this video more than a ten times, I love the show, and now I see: is that my beloved drummer Rafael Barata coming on stage around 1:08:00 ..? (Playing the tamborim.) If so, it would be something. Anyhow, thank you mr. Mendes, ms. Leporace and all the other great and lovely musicians!
