First discovered her in the early 90s when I had a late-night jazz show in Oregon. Absolutely fell in love with both her playing and her voice. She's the real deal.
I've had the grat pleasure of seeing and hearing Ms. Elias a few times, in Los Angeles and San Franciso. always a great show. and here she tells great stories as well. one of my favorites in bossa nova and jazz in general.
The TOTAL PACKAGE with everything you can want in a complete musical performance...Eliane was BORN to be a stellar International artist and she delivers on all fronts! Her bands are exemplary and lock in with her most superbly!!!
Arguably the greatest female jazz pianist that has ever been. Eliane is a wizard at the keyboard, she dances at the piano exuding joy and happiness. Accompanied by masterful jazz artists, I find myself automatically gyrating to the rhythms and, spontaneously applauding.
"The greatest" should never be used when comparing jazz musicians. Elias is fantastic of course, as is Hiromi , my personal favourite since many years. Check her out if you haven't done that yet.

I first read about her in Downbeat some time ago but, didn’t see her till early 2000s in NYC. Marc Johnson was in her trio but I don’t recall the drummers name sad to say. They were just pheNOMenal! And this band doesn’t disappoint either. No surprises there. Btw, bossa nova was big when I was a kid and it’s a pleasure to hear some more of that here! Many thanks.

I discovered Elaine when browsing for Jobim composed tracks. She's my favorite interpreter of Jobim music and love her other covers. Her originals are great but scarce. As a composer myself, I would love to hear more of her own compositions. Check out Incendiando .. her writing is beautiful. Her reservoir is huge and scholarly .. I'm a student of her music now and a huge fan!
