    Thanks for all the info on this bro still helping 3 years later. I spilled beer in my one 2 mini that ive had for 3 years, but i desoldered all the switches and everything on the pcb still works, so im gonna have a ducky one 2 mini in a kbd fans case with lubed C³Equalz Tangerine Switches (62g). Probably not a cost efficient way of building a keyboard but never mind.

    Just did this myself with the black case, and used 2 layers of drawer liner under PCB. Sounds so much better and feels way more sturdy!

    Great video. I also committed the sin of lubing without disassemly, and even Browns *gasp*! Like internet people warned, the tactility is reduced, the feel across the board is not 100% consistent, but with the also newly dampened case, I've come surprisingly close to the "thock" I thought only more expensive / work-intensive customs can achieve. Very satisfied. Now this modded Filco TKL sounds and feels better than my much newer Ducky One 2 TKL with MX Blues. 🤔

    I'm glad you like the keyboard.
    One difference between the 2 lubing methods is that, opening the switch allows you to lube where the spring contacts the stem and the bottom housing. Spring bouncing around in the housing is more of a sound thing than a feel thing. So between the 2 methods the feel might be the same, but not lubing the springs might leave the tiny scratchy sound. This is tested on gateron brown.

    I really want to buy this case since it makes the Ducky One 2 Mini feel more solid and premium. I also have a keycap set that goes really well with this case. Also with Glorious O Rings on a Cherry MX Brown switch, I feel like it would feel really close to a custom keyboard.

    If you are able to lube the switches without desoldering it then you're pretty much awesome. Even though only the top housing got lubed, it is still lubed nonetheless. Awesome job on the ducky, going to get a ducky one 2 mini just to do this mod. Thanks for letting us know which one fits without having to file the plate of the ducky one 2 mini

    I saved your video for when I actually start moving to the new case, but is there any way to transfer the Ducky one 2 mini triple height keyboard stands on either side? Or does that new case give it more of an incline? Also, I personally use clear O-rings on my keycaps on my ducky, does the lube just make the key movements smoother? Thanks for making this video I was wondering about this from the day I got my ducky a year or more ago. Keyboard is wonderful, but it's a little creaky and would love to do what you just showed us. 👊

    • @davelogan77
      @davelogan77  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      phlooke Yes, the lube smooths out the keys. Don’t worry if it gets a little messy. Make sure you use a Teflon based lube so the plastic doesn’t get damaged. The case it at an angle, in my opinion it’s perfect.

      David Logan Can't wait. All jokes aside (Obviously the extra weight would make it a better weapon) but for just our regular mech keyboard uses (typing, gaming, overall best feeling when using it) is the added weight option a must have in your opinion? Or if you never bought the weight with your case do you think you would think to yourself "this o2mini needs more weight". (Obviously as an added weight since the case itself adds weight, but is it sufficient?) I was just curious, I'm not really worried about the extra money for it but if I don't think I'll need it or benefit from it then might as well not order it). Thanks for all your help / replies. 👊

    • @davelogan77
      @davelogan77  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      phlooke it’s just a “nice to have”. The case without the extra weight is a decent amount of weight. But I like the extra option, and prefer it be on the heavier side. You can defiantly go without it.

    Hey David, I'm looking into the Ducky One 2 Mini to mod as well - but not in the sense of transferring it to a different case.
    What I'd like to do is take the whole soldered switch assembly out and make a mold from the black top part of the case to pour an epoxy resin part from it and get a glass like finish on it. Then put it all back together.
    I sadly have found little to no information on how the two case parts are stuck together - is it possible to remove it without breaking it? Is it screwed onto the white bottom part (that I would like to keep and reuse) or clipped in?
