Adoration with Tim Mackie | Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools Podcast

  • When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he began with adoration-hallowing the name of the Father. So why must our prayers begin with praise? What did Jesus mean in the opening line of the Lord’s Prayer that might be lost in translation through the centuries? In the end, might adoration be more for my benefit than God’s?
Tyler Staton is the Lead Pastor of Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon, and the National Director of 24-7 Prayer USA. He is passionate about pursuing prayer-communion and conversation with God-while living deeply, poetically, wildly, and freely in the honest and gritty realities of day-to-day life.

I’m suddenly realising the humility and wisdom John Collin displays (Tim’s Bible project podcast partner) in choosing to let Tim Mackie speak most of the time because he recognises that Tim speaks with great skill and wisdom.
It’s only something I realised as I see Tim interacting with other people.
I think Tyler did a good job of it here too In letting Tim Mackie have the floor to teach and nourish our hearts on a topic we badly needed to hear.

“What would it take for your community to recognize God’s name as holy?” Now, that is a profound question! Great conversation!

"Before you utter a request, before you confess a sin, before you pray for the need of another, before you ask for deliverance or protection of any kind--before any of that--make sure that you remember who it is that you are praying to and the story that you are living within because as you do your prayers will be redefined and your living will be redefined."

The secret of this prayer is that it contains the gospel of King Jesus hidden within itself.
JESUS is the embodiment of his own prayer.
HE hallows the name of his father.
HE brings his kingdom on the earth as it is in heaven.
    HE does his fathers will.
    HE is our daily bread.
HE is the one who brings forgiveness.
    HE tempted yet without sin,
delivers us from the evil one.
    Amen.

Think like a sparrow when you pray for the day. Keeps psalms flowing in the back of your mind unceasingly. Lay down with a psalm on your mind and wake up with a psalm on your mind.

Purge, purify, pray the conscious from dead works, so we can serve (pray to) a living God.

I would be nice if the love of the Godhead could be so visible in America that the cultures of the World would yearn our faith over our riches...which the riches could be the blessing of God for few faithful here....

One statement of Tyler's that I disagree with (it's hard just to say that.. I love that young man!) But no, our adoration IS for God first and foremost, He deserves more adoration than I am even able to give! Yes I get to reap the benefits of adoration, but only because God chooses to bless me. It's totally about Him. And thank You Jesus.. I only have this because of You 🙌🙌🙌 Love love love these two guys!

Shalom! Oh Great and Wonderous Holiest of Holies Peace be upon you all in The Holy name of YESHUA The Name above all other Names ✝️🐑🕊
I come not to be tbe cause of dissention. I come for a full understanding of why we call YHWH "God" instead of His Holy Name. Also, of course, why we call YESHUA "Jesus" when that is most certainly not the name used in The Heavenly Realms since it was created 500 yrs ago and doesn't have any discernible meaning.

The kingdom is a Jewish thing…. Acts 1:6: "Those, indeed, then, who are coming together, asked Him, saying, "Lord, art Thou at this time restoring the kingdom to Israel?" Paul’s gospel to the nations has nothing to do with this kingdom.
