      If you go to Chevy they have a great video of the trucks driving and you see all 5 models, WT, LT, Z71, Trail Boss, ZR2. The Vice President of Chevrolet speaks as well as engineers and they also cover all this. That’s why they can release this now.
      I really think Andrey was immersed and excited about this truck as he almost seemed either nervous or unable to contain his excitement. I liked the previous Colorado, but currently they are the ones to beat from Z71 level and up, definitely and I really like even the WT! Be proud owning any of them, but the ZR2 is the best looking compact to midsize truck,,,,, ever,,,, in my books. I’m one very critical SOB, so for me,, that says a lot.

    Couple more questions, does the rear seat fold up like in the Silverado and if so is it 60/40 or not? Also how flat is the rear load floor in the second row? I saw a small hump but things always look slightly different on camera. Also are LEDs going to be available to option on any of the lower trims, or do you have to step up to the Z71 and ZR2 to get those?

    Great review, Andre! Especially liked that you pointed out the front and rear shock setup. Glad to see GM moved the rear shock mounts closer to the wheels. That's a huge difference for me on the heavily rutted trails that I drive on in Northern Michigan, and was one of the reasons that I was not interested in the "old" Colorado. IMO, 33" tires are a perfect set up for driving off- and on-road in this particular vehicle. Would like to know exact running ground clearance, and the approach, departure and breakover angles -- assume that'll be in you next "unembargoed" report (along with prices).

    Love the simple multi-position tailgate that allows sliding 4x8 sheets into the bed. But if you look @10:44 the front of the bed will not allow those sheets to slide all the way to the back of the cab wall. Just seems like things would be more secure if you could slide them all the way into the bed. If I ever go back to a truck again it most likely would be a midsize now that they are so big.

      They need to bring back a bigger size bed option. I'm sorry, but 5'2" is just too short, I don't care if you drop the tailgate, it's one of my pet peeves with my half ton crew cab. I have a full 6.5 bed, but have had 8' beds in regular cab and extended cabs in the past, and boy do I miss a full size bed at times. Only option I have now is a 3/4 ton or bigger to get this configuration. I want the best of both worlds, love the crew cab, but don't want to spend the extra $$ for 1.5 ft. One of the things that would keep me from considering this truck to replace my Toyota is the short bed length. Hopefully a longer bed will become available.
    It would be nice if they would make the tailgate cubby lockable and move the jack, jack handle and anything else that is usually stored under the seats to the tailgate cubby. I’d put my ball hitch and tie downs in there also and then I’d have a lot more under seat storage that is out of sight.
    I also wish that they hadn’t dropped the diesel option.

      Completely agreed! The manufacturers' attitude to this is 180° backasswards: people who want the hardcore offroad version are some of the least likely to want extra backseat space (or even a backseat at all). If I buy a ZR2, that's a weekend toy that I might occasionally use for regular pick-up stuff (getting cement/mulch/wood/whatever from Home Depot, etc.), it's *not* something I'm going to buy if I need a truck that can comfortably fit my whole family of 3 or 5 or whatever I would've spawned - if this is you, you buy a half-ton with four doors, you don't buy a mid-size truck with the super-duper offroad package. Friends? My friends are driving their own vehicles to whatever weekend warrior crap we're off to do in such vehicles.
      In something like a ZR2, I want a regular cab with a bit of storage space behind the front seat, NO REAR SEATS, and the most bed space possible.

    • @DragonKnightX12
      @DragonKnightX12 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LanguagesWithAndrew I disagree. Unless you're just loaded with money, a $40K truck isn't gonna be just a weekend toy. It's going to be the everything vehicle, and most hardcore off-roaders are probably gonna want the extra interior space. Likely going on weekend-week long trips to various places and trails that could days to complete.
      Most people just wanting a toy for a Saturday mud bogging are just gonna by a beater. Or just buy something else like a buggy or dirt bike.
      I feel like most people that would want a single cab and a long bed are people that actually use their truck purely as a work vehicle.

This new one is heavier than before and there is no way the turbo 2.7 will match or even get in the ballpark of the diesel's fuel efficiency. And making us pay extra for the mid-tier models to get more horsepower and torque (but not that max) is kind of wack. Sticking with my 16' duramax Canyon. Maybe 4th gen will get the 3.0 i6 duramax.

      The turdbo 4 as the only choice is even more worrisome.

    wish it had the crew cab long box 6ft bed. makes the bed more usable but not giving up too much in size compared to getting a full size

    Ok as far as the tailgate at half mast, I’ve been doing that to my 2029 Colorado Crew Cab I have now, but also in my last one, a 2016 Ext Cab. By looping the cables over the latch posts on the sides of the bed near the taillights. That also end up at the same level as the wheel wells, that allow a couple 2x4’s to lay across the bed, sitting in molded indents so you can load 4x8 sheets, nice and flat. As I have more than a few times. Once I had 24, 4x8, 5/8” sheets of drywall!

    Under the hood is a nice flat surface for the tech to array his tools when he works on that mini motor. The bull bar is hideous.
