I’ve been driving mine for 14 months now, took it out to the trails a few times, traveled with my family and our trailer across Canada and the US (a 9000km trip!) and it’s been flawless. I’m a Toyota fanboy out of a 4Runner and I would recommend this Pro 4X to anyone who is on the market.

I was obsessed with the new Frontier, and still am. I did take one for a test drive, and only had two complaints. The first is that the headrests in the cloth interior are absolute trash. The second is that the backup camera is terrible quality.

Even the older style Nissan Frontier is a fantastic truck. Ease of getting in and out, comfortable seats, easy to clean interior, great sight over the hood, torquey big displacement v6, reliable, large rear diff, and just built strong. 20-21 give you the updated power train with the older looks. They’re incredibly underserved.

My one reservation is the near-90-degree angle of the back seat. My kids won’t last long for big trips back there, the taco has a more gradual angle. It’s been a hidden gem for decades. My 2017 Pro 4x, which I have had since new, has been the most worry free lowest maintenance vehicle I have ever owned. Not a squeak or rattle with 50,000 miles on it. Very capable truck, on and off road. I looked at the new ones (starting in 2020 with the 3.8 l engine and new transmission) but availability and extra costs made me realize my 2017 is still a great value.
Two things annoy me about it 1) gas mileage is terrible 2) really bad turning radius. That’s it.

You may have to shop many dealers in several states to find what you want. Example; I wanted a crew cab SV 2WD with a 6’ bed. I was in central FL, dealer searched and found one in GA but not the color I wanted, plus the dealer added $11,650 market upgrade charge, I walked away.

Ride was okay, seats were great for up to 3 hours straight, road noise not bad at all. Only reason I'd probably not buy one is the lack of space in the back seat, then again the Ranger isn't any better. I also like the width of the cab, unlike the GM twins. I haven't seen a new generation GM, but from anything I've seen, like on TFL, there is no evidence the new cab is any wider inside.
