    we need to organize a class action. i’m usually not one for this but this is ridiculous. we spend quite a bit on these devices and they literally try to make us think it’s our faults when then don’t work after a few months/years. How are hundreds/thousands of customers having the same issue but it’s our fault? we should do it

      I agree with all of you. I was a loyal Fitbit customer since 2014 and always pleased with their customer service. I don't have a disposable income to purchase a "disposable product" that appears to have an 18 months life cycle. Fitbit offered me a 35% discount on a new Fitbit product. NOPE! That's not going to happen. They have lost me as a customer!! Yes, a class action suit is certainly something I will stand with you on.

      I got mine last cristmas like it wasnt even that long and it just started my parents have the samsung gear s3 or one of those and theyve had it when it came out and it still works perfectly.

    Had the same problem. My Fitbit worked - counting steps, vibrant with notifications- but with a black screen.
    Factory reset did not work, nor did any Nintendo cheat codes. Two months outside of warranty, they offered a coupon for a new one. I think I'll try Samsung or a more underrated, inexpensive brand.

    Having the same problem with mine. Started doing this @18 months after purchasing. All Fitbit does is send me an email offering a discount on my next purchase. Revisiting all troubleshooting videos and surprised soooo many people have this happening.

    Glad you posted this! I feel lucky that I have had my Versa since it first came out (2017 or was it 18? 🤦🏻) But now in 2021 I have this issue. The leds flash underneath but from trying the button presses, charging to full and numerous button sequences including the reset I still have the black screen of death 💀. So its an apple 6 or Garmin Fenix for me next 🙂👍

      I think since google bought fitbit they have corrupt the company with their software updates and not caring about older models....my fitbit worked fine before google bought fitbit. I also have the versa 1 and it was going backwards. In 2018 it could track my location and daily walks by itself....by the time google bought them i had to click the walk activity option on my fitbit each time i wanted it to record my route...this was an automatic feature in 2018 but apparently impossible in 2020 because google messed it up. Now a blank screen and i think its googles fault. They are buying up companies and then destroying them by not caring
      .....

      Same issue as mostly everyone else here. The device stopped working with the black screen of death and I will likely NOT buy another Fitbit. Will be trying another product when this one dies. And we know it will.

    hold all three of the buttons down in till the Fitbit sign pops up then once that happens put it on the charger until it brings u to your clock face background
    Same thing happend to me then I did this and it helped!!

    I agree. This is my second Fitbit to go bad. This one made it 1 year and stopped charging and still have had no success with getting it going again.

    Same happened with me they sent a 30% discount code. Which sounds like they know the watch only lasts for 2 years. I'd not buy a 200$+ watch which only works for 2-3 years.

    Just happened to mine after being fine 2 days ago. Ordering an apple watch just cause the troubleshooting is so much more helpful if something goes wrong. This is my second fitbit that has quite on me and its time to jump ship.

    Same problem with my Fit Bit VERSA , i am in India and the warranty has expired 2 months ago . The people at fitbit say they cant help ,its a shame to have sold a 200 dollar watch that barely worked for 14 months , wont buy a fitbit again .

    Hi Simon, Fitbit was very honorable. After emailing them on this matter they sent me a new Fitbit Versa 2.

      Hello, I'm having the same issue. Was your watch under warranty. I called and spoke with someone to try to troubleshoot my issue but they said it was nothing they could do because my warranty expired a few months prior.

    Having the same problem. The watch seems working as it vibrates with notifications,connects to the app and has the green ohr light on, but the screen keeps staying black and won't wake up. Tried many restarts and no success. Fitbit support gave me no solution and won't replace the watch as the warranty expired in may 2020. So basically this watch has a 2 year lifespan and curiously stopped working right after the warranty expired. What a joke! I seriously question the reliability of the Fitbit company as they sell products with quality and durability issues. I read people saying that this might be a software issue related to a faulty update affecting the screen wake up. The support confirmed that it might be and a new update might resolve the issue but didn't give any info about a possible bug and new update realese solving it.

    I purchased a Fitbit versa in March 2019 and in April 2020 the screen went blank. I did not damage the watch. The battery was 6% at night and the following morning it just didn’t turn on. I called them and since the warranty is over I need to throw the watch. It cannot be fixed. Paying such huge amounts for this issues is horrible. Fitbit never again

    I have the same problem. The error started with a faulty measurement of the pulse. During various activities the measured pulse was always constant at 69. Last night the pulse suddenly went to 206. Since then the screen has not worked. The app still connects, but only updates the battery status.

    same problem has happened to my husband... the most irritating part is that they don't have a customer care. you have to rely on mails only.... anyway after five six months of follow ups we have got the device exchanged... thankfully it happened while the device was under warranty period.. Thats not the end of story.. we bought two fitbit devices together... and now after one year... my device has stopped working today... same issue that it is unresponsive, no matter what you do... it has really been pretty irritating and disappointing with a product of a big brand when we pay so much.. total crap product... and will not suggest anybody to buy fitbit!!

    What is the purpose of a WATCH if you cannot “watch” or see the time etc. I had charge, charge 2, charge three and versa 2 and in each of these devices the screen went blank after one year warranty was gone. The only thing that still works is Fitbit flex cause it does not have a watch face. I am done with Fitbit watches!

    I'm having the same problem. The screen occasional lights up. Otherwise nothing. Very disappointing. It's only 20 months old and it isnt cheap to purchase either!

      what I discovered the solution was after you pressed the three button on the Versa for 12 seconds, before reaching (12 - one - thousand) count, your Versa will display the cyan logo (that diamond shape - dots). If it doesn't not the worry, it only means your really drained the Versa battery. The problem is not the watch it's the charging docking. To recharge your Versa: clean the four pins on the charging docking and the one behind the Versa with a soft pink eraser. After cleaning the contacts with the pink eraser, the next step is to push the four pins on the docking charger many times to re-establish good connection (don't use your finger to push that four pins, use a something like a No. 2 pencil with the erase rubber on the end to push those 4 pins in - many times to re-establish good connection. Then connect the USB plug to your cell phone charger. You might not get a light because you completely drained your Versa. But not to worry just let it charge for two hours. Then remove to check if your Versa lights up. If it does not? Then re-push those pins again on the docking maybe 50 times. Then charge your Versa again for two hours and see if the Versa took a charge.

    Same problem while the customer service frustrates you over and over. Mine happened immediately after the update they pushed which was coincidentally right after the Warranty. I have been so stupid to have bought 4 devices over the years and they all end up the same way.

    Agree… mine is versa 2…. Is damaged just after 1.5 yr of use…. Such a shame…. No one answers the fitbit customer service number

    I have the same issue, i did trouble shooting for a few hours today then i contacted them, they were so helpful, after 10-15 mins of the chat agent helping me he said i was eligible for a replacement. So quick and fast

    Mine died last night, only got it at Xmas! It had a full battery and never had mo problem until I started downloading a clock face on the fitbit app and everything just went dead! Can't even restart it! I was torn between getting a fitbit or Samsung. Gutted!

    Mine did that today and I cleaned the watch connectors real well and screen real well and charger connectors. It randomly started working again and it was froze up completely and no videos that claim to work didn't fix mine.

    Same was working just fine, got it from another person and went to factory reset and then nothing. Black screen was 100% charged and now nothing.

    Did you call customer service girl. It probably was something wrong with the software and only a customer service representative can help with that. Can't do it through a email.

    I have the same problem, that's why am watching this video. The first issue I had was that it didn't connect to my phone. So I try to turn it off with the buttons and didn't work, so I proceeded to turn it off from the menu setting, but oh surprise!! black screen :( I tried everything, charging it, pressing all the buttons, and nothing. Its been like that for months and right now I try to connected to its charger, and it seems the battery was drain. Why? I don't know. But it seems it turn on again. Maybe its the software or something to make us buy more of there stuff, but its a really bad idea.

    I had he same issue and I just tried restarting and charging it for a long time it has now turned on so I suggest trying to charge it for a long time.

      How long did you charge it for? I left mine on all day and nothing. I'm so annoyed because this one is actually a replacement to ANOTHER fault that I had with my first fitbit!!!

    Fitbits are the worst product i have ever had...I have the versa light,and the same thing is happening...So I will not buy a new one..going to some other product...very Sad...the first one only lasted about one year,and the band broke off...

    i called their support, take off the charger - press the left and lower right button for 15 seconds - then i saw the 0%
    they also said to remove charger after it's charged.

      My clock screen was black, and the apps wouldn't work either. So I did what ileen D said ☝️ and it worked for me. Hope this helps someone else too. Thank you ileen D

    I have the same problem also. It first started when i did a factory reset and suddenly the screen just goes blank. I’ve tried putting it on the charger, restarting it, and factory resetting it. But none of those work. I’m worried, confused, and just frustrated. I would love a reply. Thanks

      You can contact fitbit help and tell them what happened. They sent me a new fitbit Versa 2 after reporting my issues to them.

    Mine just did the same thing. Complete junk. My Apple Watch never quit on me. I was able to sell it and recoup some money. Now I regret it because this Fitbit versa 2 won’t turn on. Thing with apple is the screens crack easy but at least they still work after. I’ll just invest in better screen protectors. Fitbit your garbage.

      I bought mine in June I almost cried and they sent me a coupon for 35% off of a new one I loved the fact that my trainer got to see my steps and keep up and they are pretending that this don't exist

      I didn’t have a receipt when I called the support line. My versa is 11 months old and it came apart. Sent them a photo and I should be receiving a new display (body only).

      Contact fitbit help. They must replace it as it is still under guarantee/warranty.

      @@prohibidoelpaso6584 I am not sure what you mean Carla but if your watch is older than a year Fitbit wont replace it. It must still be within the warranty period of 1 year then they will replace it. They cannot repair it they will tell you you can get a new one and maybe they will offer you it at a discounted rate. You will.have to contact Fitbit to find out.

      DARSHAN Shet Try to contact Fitbit they should send you a replacement if you’re under the warranty period.
