How to restart the Fitbit Charge 2 (Useful Hack!!)

  • Our video looks at how to restart the Fitbit Charge 2.
    It may be that your device is:
    Not syncing.
    Not tracking any steps or activity.
    Not responding generally - i.e. to button presses, swipes, screen taps etc.
    Not turning on after charging.
    As an owner of a Fitbit Charge 2, I have experienced some of the issues above a few times. When the initial issue occurred, I did some research online and discovered that you can actually restart the device easily. The information did take a bit of finding however.
    That's why I want to share this useful hack with you today.
    To restart your Fitbit Charge 2, as demonstrated in the video, ensure that:
    * You have the Fitbit device
    * The Fitbit Charge 2 USB charging cable
    * Laptop / PC
    PLEASE NOTE the comments from the help.fitbit.com website which states - "Restarting your device turns it off and on without deleting any activity data. If your device saves notifications, a restart deletes them".
    Follow these steps to restart you device:
    * Simply power up your laptop / PC.
    * Attach the charging cable onto the Fitbit device as shown in the video.
    * Plug in the other end of the USB charging cable into you laptop / PC (you should see the battery symbol appear on the face of your Fitbit if connected correctly).
    * Once all connected and working, press and hold the button of the side of the clock face for around 5-10 seconds (when the device has restarted successfully you will see the Fitbit logo appear on the clock face and the version number beneath).
    * Your Fitbit Charge 2 device should now have restarted successful.

    Thank you! My phone did a system update last night and after I unplugged my watch this morning, the full battery status was stuck on the screen and the app couldn't find my device. I thought for sure I had to buy a new FitBit, but your instructions saved this one. Yay!!

    Thank you so much! Totally resolved the issue I had with Fitbit not syncing to my phone. : ) Only wish I had found your video sooner. Would have saved me the ridiculous amount of time I spent searching for what you would think would be a very simple thing - how to turn something off!

    Big thanks buddy... charged up my fitbit after a few mnths out of the gym... had switched mobiles in the interim... and stated it needed a software update on the device...wouldnt sync...wouldnt even pair let alone update... restarted using your process and was synced and updating in under a minute... so a massive thank you... just saved me a wad of cash buying a replacement

    Okay my problem isn't that my Fit-bit 2 isn't chargeing/synching it's that I can't get anything to pop up on the screen one day it was working, just fine I had put it on the charger overnight then the next day it wouldn't work it does glitch a bit when I touch the screen but pressing the side button does nothing for me i've had it for about a year tho I wouldn't say it has major water damage but it has gotten a lil wet in the past. Any help suggestions would be appreciated

    Sir , I haven't used the watch (Fitbit charge 2) for past two years
    And I tried your tutorial but I am unable to see a Fitbit logo as our watch does
    I had even cleaned the charger and the watch but it just showed low battery level icon , then shows full battery level icon.
    But after removing the watch from charger it doesn't work and again shows low battery level icon on charging
    Please help me what to do now

    I have done a reset with the same results just connecting to a usb charger not a laptop. I.e. you don't need a laptop to do this.

    Didn’t work still have black screen :( I can feel the Fitbit 2 vibrate and it is connected to the phone Bluetooth but still black screen.

      @@TheTechGuru no, unfortunately I believe in took in too much moisture got into the device. It no longer works. Had to replace with a new fitbit 4. Thank you for the response.

      @@TheTechGuru Doesn't seem like Charge2 is supported anymore. My problem is I replaced a cracked screen and now the Fitbit Charge 2 doesn't reset. I've waited until it was fully recharged and tried pressing the reset button on the side for 5 seconds as well as 15+seconds. I feel one vibration after a couple seconds BUT still just a black screen. From my smartphone I can tell data is being recorded.

    This didn't help me, I followed your steps and my Fitbit must be having a fit! The battery icon is stuck on the screen. I phones just had an update and it effected the connection with my Fitbit. I can't get it to work

      @@TheTechGuru I combined your advice with the advice on the 2nd link you shared and it worked. I restarted the fitbit but that didn't work. I then unpaired the fitbit from my phone and went into the app to pair it again while simultaneously restarting the fitbit following your instructions. It searched for a long time and I pretty much gave up. Then all of a sudden, it found my tracker! And some time afterwards, a code appeared on my Fitbit! There was another very lengthy delay and my Fitbit is synced again for the first time in a very long time! THANK YOU!

      As far as I know, charge 2 does not come with a factory reset. The max one can do is to un-pair it (i.e., remove your tracker from your account under Fitbit app) and pair it back (add the tracker back to your account under app). And I am not sure if this achieves what you want !!!
      But also, be aware, there are chances that after un-pairing the tracker may fail to pair back to the app especially if your android is latest and gets updated regularly. This situation needs further troubleshooting as shown under th-cam.com/video/YRWh3d3wrYc/w-d-xo.html
