hey Chris.. great video.. quick question.. now having done that long trip... would you want to get street tires.. or all season... for the Cybertruck? I really want one but loving my 2022 mode 3 long range...
@@EverydayChris When Tesla finally releases the street wheels.. I'd love to see a range comparison video! I also loved how you talked about what you put in the back for your trip. that Fridge is sick!
I think the haters and fud spreaders did Tesla a favor. By putting out a lot of wrong test and numbers so early on. Because the truck was and is so highly anticapated. It was bound to disappoint in many ways. But now it seems the truck is constantly doing better than first assumed.
You're getting good wh/mi on the MY and the MX. That definitely helps put in context how you're driving and what you're getting with the CT. I drive very conservatively and my (pre-Raven) MX has lifetime 390ish wh/mi.
@EverydayChris Sorry, disagree. Driving Teslas since 2018 and other EV'S and tried ABRP and did not like it. If ABRP works for you, keep using it. The more options the better.
Thanks! You should consider a recap at the end with the data. How many wh charged at each stop, what you arrived and left with for charging, total wh consumed, etc.
Mine was delivered Fri. I’ve charged it to 100% a few times now, and it tops out at 300 miles… +6% degradation right off the bat is really concerning. It took my model Y 2 years to lose that much. Any advice on how to resolve this with Tesla?
At 14:00 you incorrect stated that you consumed 489 Watts per mile, whereas it very clearly displays you consumed 489 Wh/mi. Watts is an instantaneous measure. 489W consumed over the course of an hour is 489Wh. So you consumed an average of 489 Watts at each instant over the course of that hour. Watts is a measure of power, Watt hours are a measure of energy.
recognized some familiar sites in Monterey, CA ... would be interested to know how mileage improves with all-season tires and the redesigned aero caps; keep us updated. thanks!
If u averaged 489 m/kwh then based on a 123 kWh battery u should get 250 miles on full charge. Not great but expected. U divide batter size (123,000 wh) by your average consumption 489m/kwh That's the best way to see how your doing For this truck around 400m/kwh would be optimal.
I see many choosing the Silverado EV WT4 over CT due to range and looks. 375 miles vs 250 mile highway range at 80mph which equals 150 vs 250 towing and socially many don't want all the attention/Social +/- opinions. CT could fix but will then need more battery changing entire vehicle balance. Can Tesla use storage under bed for another 75 miles of range? That would swing the tweeners.....for now it's neither for me
I don't think the word "many" means what you think it means, LOL! First GM would have to make "many" of them, which they are not doing, because the battery costs too much to sell profitably. You should think before you speak.
Obviously, all EVs consume a lot more power to drive at highway speeds… if you stay in the city and do not go on the highway you’ll get much higher than the claimed range. I have a model Y RWD with claimed range of 394KM, will get about 250KM on the highway only, or about 450KM in mixed city/highway.
I had a suspicion that the Cybertruck was actually pretty decent and beter than what everyone was saying. Everyone who's got "terrible" roadtrip experience maybe just needs to turn their AC and speakers down. You got that with the all season tires, with no aero covers, while refrigerating stuff in the back. That's pretty good. OutOfSpec did a test and it was actually better than the F-150 Lightning
Great review. With a gasoline hybrid car that would have been a 1-stop roadtrip, not 2 stops. Stop length, though would have been about the same, supercharger is equalizing that experience. Feels like batteries need to be 1.4x 1.5x more wattage to truly match what a gasoline car can do for road trips.
Most people would have stopped at least twice on a trip that long. Did you notice how they barely had enough time to take their rest break and the truck was already charged and ready to leave?
I road trip 400 miles all the time, its definitely 1 stop. In my younger days it would have been zero stop on cars with large tanks, but my bladder cant quite cut it anymore @@ZipZoomZip

489 is good? That’s like 250 miles total and if you charge to 80% daily and don’t let it go down below 20% normally. The usable range is bad. Is this guy for real or just me?
So you drive 7 hr without stopping? For me, I can only manage 2-3 hr at a time. Driving is just too boring, so I go 150 miles or so, and then take a break - to get gas or charge up or just walk around.

Getting tired pf range tests that are conducted by speeding the whole time. Of course its not going to get max range when going 75 or 80mph the whole time. Do it at 65mph and then we can talk.
Over promise, under deliver Tesla..... still it might have been worth the 40k to 60k it was suppose to be.... no way 100 to 120k!! I do love the look!!! great video!!
Tesla over delivered on the range of the Dual Motor (340 miles (with street tires) vs. 300+ miles anticipated), they over delivered on the steer by wire, and four wheel steering, they over-delivered by being able to walk on the tonneau cover, they over-delivered with cooled, ventilated seats and heated steering wheel, they over-delivered with the 17 inches of ground clearance and the speed at which it can raise and lower, none of these things were expected. The price is not $100K and $120K, it's $80K for the Dual Motor and $100K for the Tri-Motor Cyberbeast. You are quoting the pricing for the Special Limited Edition release versions that come with about $15K worth of extras like FSD, home charger and some vehicle to home backup power capability.
No, the 500-mile version was anticipated to be priced at $70K, not $60K. And the current Foundation editions come with a bunch of extras like FSD, Wall Connector and home backup gateways. When demand levels out, and production increases, you will be able to buy just the truck, without the extra hardware and FSD, for a price surprisingly close to the reveal pricing (considering the high inflation rates over those years). Of course, back then, before Covid and before massive price inflation, the Cybertruck was not anticipated to have four-wheel steering and steer by wire for nimble handling and extra stability making high-speed lane changes. Tesla also added cooled/ventilated seats. It offers compelling value, once the product is ramped to high volume. This is what has competing interests worried, and why we are being bombarded by so much anti-Tesla, anti-Cybertruck hyperbole on a daily basis. But new owners are blown away by their Cybertrucks, even if they are still paying a high "early adopter" tax. It's an industry changing product that has oil companies worried. @@TheMamonti1
