      I think this proves that history written by the losers would be a lot worse. We only lost because Russian winter is OP. Nevermind the fact that our logistics were terrible and we had a huge oil deficit.
      We're smaller than Texas and without oil but we should have taken over the world. Not talking about any losers in particular :)

      @@Dragon-Believer I mean you could be talking about the French or the Germans, as the Oil deficit is more of a thing I'm gonna go with Germans. Interestingly the German invasion of Russia does have an element of the losers writing it, because The Americans interviewed the German general post WW" as they were the "Russian fighting experts" and wanted to know how to fight the Russians. The Germans actually did start their invasion in the Summer but couldn't achieve all their objectives before winter, and if you ask me that is the much bigger failing.

    • @Dragon-Believer
      @Dragon-Believer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jamaneee I agree about the losers writing the eastern front narrative. That's why it's so wrong. Hitler wasn't a madman and his generals weren't geniuses. There weren't an inexhaustible supply of Soviet troops. The Germans exaggerated Soviet numbers by a great deal. They would say like our division faced 5 Soviet divisions. But Soviet divisions were much smaller and they weren't anywhere near full strength. Not that that isn't understandable. I'm sure it feels like that when you are being shot at :)

    Listen, as a former professional magician, the Svengali is a all time classic trick. Your classmate's problem was that his presentation was poor at that time, trust me, it takes time to learn how to dictate to the audience how to take a action.
    A much better way to do that trick is to split the deck in half, and then set both on the table. Then tell them to choose the top card from one of the two decks. This way, you give them the illusion of choice and the magic is established. A few florishes later, and your set.
    That being said, a Svengali deck only works for 4-6 uses in my experience. So a better solution is to move into a levitating trick, or if you are asked to repeat the trick, palm the deck into a pocket with a joke, and pull out a identical deck with a different key card. Thus, the perfect toolkit for a begining magician.
    BTW, I'll only give one hint on how to make things levitate. Women's pantyhose, perferably black and sheer. Figure out the rest for yourself. XD

      My friend does magic tricks with cards sometimes. He tried to impress my dad once. It worked but not the way you'd think: he was dumbfounded when none of the cards he showed were "it"... That's because my dad kept the picked card somehow.

    8:35 This seems to be a recurring theme in lower level replays. People start winning but then instead of keeping their lead they start to get cheeky, trying to win harder and losing big chunks of their lead.

    Glad to see the series title returning in the video names but you should use the shortened series title like IODIS at the end, combined with an episode number! For example "The Great Wall Of China Touches The Sea - So This MUST Be IMBA! | IODIS #55
    The reasoning being something called Search Engine Optimisation, which is knowing what your viewers will type into a search bar when looking for this series, which is most likely "Harstem IODIS", by putting the term IODIS in the title the engine is much more likely to recommend these videos to searchers, which trains the algorithm to promote the series more often to starcraft viewers. Also the space between the IODIS #55 is important to not interfere with that. The episode number is also really helpful as it allows viewers to skip around episodes, and again promotes each video more often in the search function.
    The episode numbers will also let the viewers know there's a tonne more episodes like this, and the link to the playlist in the description should be promoted more so they know it's there. Binge watchers are a big part of revenue, entire streaming services like Netflix base their entire business model off knowing people like to binge watch an entire series in a few sittings.

    I think stacking the deck and preparing is part of the magic trick.

    • @Facesforce
      @Facesforce 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The key is to have several decks, each with a different key card. Know how many times you can use it, and then pocket it, thus keeping up the magic.
      Stack it when you get home. It's better that way.

    Thanks to Jerry for the sharing a replay and this episode!
    What I would like to mention is that ofc i know nothing about jerry and his friend and what they agreed on exactly (funnily enough the complaint form says "...I had this replay with my *_FIEND_* ...") but when I saw the phrase that zerg promised the macro game I instantly thought: hey, actually you dont want Zerg to play a macro game. That deal to have a macro game was kind of a double-edged sword for poor Jerry, his friend went full "ayy lets build as many drones as possible" which naturally sets the countdown for the opponent; unless terran is Clem/Maru or performs a commited push/all-in in a timely fashion there is simply no way to beat Zerg later in the game. What I'm trying to say is that experiment doesn't look clean to me, Jerry unintentionally gave away too much info to his friend because generally (in a macro game scenario) you either want to strike fear into a zerg so he doesnt build drones OR punish him hard for his greed, and neither option took a place in the game :)

    Bad look for Harstem, in my opinion. I know 'E-Sports' wants to be regarded as a 'real sport', but this is just a wonderful take on the absolute lack of understanding on how to train for something. Bouts, or real fights give you experience; they also cause bad habits. Be it martial arts, boxing, or in my personal experience, Fencing, bouts are NOT the best way to learn or train. Targeted sparing and practice have always been far superior to experience, the entire rant about 'stacking the deck' is absolutely absurd and a waste of several minutes of time in this video. This Chinese players is LUCKY to have a friend willing to help him get better. Sure, I could join circuits and just fight opponents in hopes of gaining experience needed to win. But if I am poor at using flicks, or defending against them, I'll learn absolutely NOTHING from an opponent that never uses them in a real bout. Sparing and practice are extremely important and vastly superior, though because most 'e-sport' players (see all) are self taught/learned, I can understand their limited understanding.

      a) Harstem's analogies are not to be taken altogether seriously.
      b) This is a bad form of practice because if you learn to build your macro around not worrying about early aggression, you are acquiring habits that are all wrong for an unrestricted game.

      @@klarthkoken1925 You won't build a bad habit. And even if you 'do', (which you won't), you'll have improved massively in every other field, so that you'll be able to then start focusing on that aspect of your play. Having to worry about everything at once, and every build order, and every matchup, and every troll strategy. All at once. Just makes you sloppy everywhere.

    clearly zerg is imba. All he had to do is press ZZZZ UUUUUUUUU and then A move while terran had to press AAAAA DDDDD TAB MM NNN(for liberators) and GGGG for ghost. Then he had to press SHIFT eeeeeeeeeeeeee to set up the liberators and press Q and right click and then press A then left click while press shift then EEE for steady targeting...... WTF why terran has to do so many steps?????????? This is balance my asssss

    15:46 Wrong logic! When the enemy plays badly and you still can't beat him, that IS an indication that his race/units might be imba. It still is possible that the complainer is EVEN WORSE, but that is than harder to prove as if the enemy would play good.
    See it this way: If the enemy would play perfect, then yea... nothing here is imba, the complainer just isn't good enough. But if the enemy is not good, it is more likely that something is imba. The burden is on you to show that the complainer is really terrible - even worse than his opponent.

    • @hairmachine1284
      @hairmachine1284 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, nope. Lower level play, by definition, will contain a number of errors. Therefore, any player oustide of God-tier is certain to be losing to opponents who are making mistakes. The lower the level, the more egregious the mistakes you can expect to find in both players, including the winner. It follows that merely observing that you have lost to an opponent making a mistake tells you progressively less and less the further you get down the ladder.
      Another way to see this: imagine simulating 1000 games between two perfect AIs, vs 1000 games between two monkes who move randomly. Any imba will show up clearly in the distribution for the AIs, but the monkes will 100% of the time show an even distribution between all three races regardless of any balance (that's how random works). I see no reason to presume this relationship is anything other than linear. In an inblanced game the bad players start off as basically monkes and will show an even (random) distribution, and as the MMR advances the imba would begin to exert a progressively greater effect on the distribution. At perfect play, any imba would become crystal clear.

    Dear Jerry,
    Stop playing starcraft or any other competitive video game. Resume yourself to some sandbox type of game.
    Also don't work in the private sector. Try to focus your career to public worker sector, you know simple life, working with some papers, saying to the people "neeeext" when they come with their documentation for you to file into specific folders.
