The Namibian government has resolved to introduce entry visa requirements for countries that have not reciprocated its visa exemption gestures.
Citizens from over 30 countries will no longer enjoy visa-free access to Namibia if their nations fail to reciprocate visa exemption agreements.
The proposal, submitted by the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, has been approved by the Cabinet recently.
According to data from the Namibia Tourism Board and various embassies, this decision could affect around 31 countries.

The government should also consider removing visa requirements for our fellow Africans, not only those listed or targeted ones.
If the government requires that on Africans, then it must at least be lightened and not a burden or a burrier to trade within the continent. I never travel across the continent but I hear people complain in other countries about the cost and lot of nonsens security.
Not forgetting the so called "RED LINE" which is avoiding people not to do business within the country, while our animals are immunized each year if I am not mistaken. Let our people trade free within their countries and also within our continent. Can our old leaders learn to trust each other and do trade free. I wish I was in the cabinet too and throw my idea. Anyway, I know there are some out there who reason this way.
Much love from your fellow Namibian 🇳🇦

It will never be 54. Will not be 45 either. The only regions with the prospects of a federal or unitary state is EAC; minus Congo.
Other regions, such as ECOWAS are headed in the opposite direction.
They are experiencing balkanization, with countries choosing to exit the regional bloc.. Such as what is taking place with the Sahel Alliance and their emancipation initiatives.
Ultimately, it will be up to the respective populations themselves to determine how they choose to move forward. All 54 of them.
Some may choose to cede their nationhood sovereignty and republics to merge into a new entity. Some will not.
      Their decisions will be respected..

As an American I agree but it’s easier said than done. Western European nations are rather wealthy individually compared to the rest of the world but not compared to the USA. Europe knew as individual economies that the US could throw its weight around and would offer these countries bad deals all day! Hence they formed the EU, and instantly they became an economic equal. The Europeans are pretty wise and still struggle with such a union. U have a Brexit and countries like Germany feeling like they are doing all the heavy lifting whilst the Greeks sit at the beach. A Union like Europe won’t work for Africa. Africa has too many incompetent and corrupt rulers and Africa is a much more complicated landscape. A federal system like the US has would probably be better but it would still have a lot of the same constraints and would live and die by how competent and incorruptible the leaders are at the federal level. Nothing that I have seen in afro-American or African culture would make me think a unified Africa would work….but on paper it’s what u should do!

@@ngutjiuangutuazeratueutjiu7691 No anger. I’m rooting for Africa but this move isn’t going to hurt the West but it will likely hurt Tourism in Namibia as most Western countries have 186 other countries they can travel Visa free to. Also, the West isn’t punishing African countries by requiring them to get a visa to enter. The added scrutiny is needed to make sure people aren’t entering Western countries to work or over extend their stay….which happens all of the time. It’s just another case of an African leader doing nothing while making it look like they are doing something. Africa has so many other more important things it needs to work on other than weaponizing visas. I mean outside of a handful of African countries an African can travel to most of the rest of Africa without a visa. Probably would make more sense to first address this? Also u know these leaders are just going to pocket this visa money anyways.

However as a namibian I do not agree with that decision on economic grounds coz most SADC countries are visa free to tourists and investors. Tourists come here to spend money not seek asylum or grab our jobs. We africans go to seek asylum in those countries. That's the reason they require visa from us. NAMIBIA is right to revolt the visa, yes Namibia is known for tourism but who owns the majority of the businesses, is it.not the Europeans? South Africa should also revolt some countries visa too, they are having a problem with many Europeans over staying their visa because they go to there to work .

Namibia must audit its immigration department, punish all those who might have corrupted it, show Western countries that they are no longer the source of people who violate visa free access, before they can ask for it to be restored. Namibians by themselves are too few to cause problems anywhere in the world. The likely culprits are the usual suspects from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Congo, Ethiopia, who go to countries like Namibia, buy passports, hop off to Canada, and declare fake asylum
