@@alexiuscastrum couldn't have said it better myself. Each villain having a different personal connection and history with different characters makes their motivations and personalities feel unique, compared to all the current spiderman movies where every villain is an indirect victim of Tony stark
I love it when the panda village fights the jade monsters. It didn't hit me until now, but some of them were survivors of the genocide Shen committed. They were helpless back then, but Po taught them how to fight back. That's just so inspirational imo
The voice acting for the self sacrifice scene, where PO yells "Run, RUN!" is so well acted. It makes me feel Po's fear, and makes me tear up every single time I watch this movie
That was the moment in when you realize"Oh Shit Just Got Real" . The real fear in Po's voice is terrifying cus he's not scared for himself (tho it's definitely part of it) it's the fear of losing his family and friends because of his failure
@@KFP_Fanboy I actually never thought of that I actually rewatched all three of these movies to see who’s better I’m having such a hard time there so good in there own right the first movie had the funniest jokes in my opinion mostly because will the others had jokes that you could see coming a mile away the first movie had the best comedic timing I’ve ever seen will the second one had the best villain no question I mean you never go wrong with Gary he was probably the most mentally threatening villain by far also that wolf who to be honest I forgot his name while writing this😂. But the third movie had the best ending it was like end game all over again while it may not be the strongest one plot or character wise it makes up for it just by that ending alone po reflecting on what he’s gone through from a son to a student all the way to a teacher was so sweet and warmed my heart with nostalgia and the fact he TURNS INTO THE LITERAL DRAGON WARRIOR WAS SO FITTING!! Over all none of them are bad each of them have ups and downs but that’s what makes them better I don’t wanna avoid a movie because it’s not as good as the other two or three movies.
I always found that Po has a different role in each movie: - Kung Fu Panda: Student - Kung Fu Panda 2: Warrior - Kung Fu Panda 3: Teacher It makes each movie distinctive, avoiding any possible rehashes.
Kai's destruction, explained: The more Chi you give willingly, the more Chi you have. The more Chi you take forcibly, the less Chi you have. Po was being given Chi willingly by an entire village of people. Making him infinitely full of Chi. Then he gave it all to Kai, willingly, becoming an endless Chi font for Kai to take from that would never run dry. Kai, at the same time, was forcibly taking Po's Chi, even while it was being given to him. He was forcibly taking infinite Chi. Which caused him... to have none. And nothing can exist without Chi. So Kai became nothing. He ceased to exist.
I will always love Tigress's agreeement whenever Po is admitting he's bad at something throughout the series. KFP1 it was disdainful agreement hoping to put him down. KFP2 it was friendly teasing agreement with his screw-ups knowing he can roll with it. Now it's agreement with his failures, tempered with genuine care and desire to support him. She really is a best friend.
I love when Po straight up agrees with her in this one and laments he doesn't have what it takes, and Tigress just gives a really sad and guilty look. It shows how much she's changed.
You forgot another win. During po’s final battle, he remains light hearted and enjoys what’s happening. After being beaten the crap out of by kai, when he turns into the chi dragon, he doesn’t become serious, he literally starts laughing and starts acting like himself which is enjoying anything cool. It shows literally anything cool happening to him he will enjoy like throughout this entire trilogy.
I truthfully LOVE the juxtaposition of comedy and drama in Kung Fu Panda, and how Po just deconstructs the whole 'comedy is for the comic relief' format. He seemingly goes for that cliche grandiose speech and then and then just breaks down into laughter and messes around with his giant dragon. The training montage is also genius for this reason, with Po weaponising all the bizarre quirks and eccentricities of the goofy pandas, while the ever serious Tigress is reduced to the background comic relief just from how bewildered and lost she looks throughout it all.
@@ToonReel001 I'll be honest, for the most part I hated this movie's comedy. All the comic relief was kinda annoying and the movie itself was disappointing after how epic the 2 was. There are some great scenes of course, Lee Shan telling Po about his mother and Tigress and Po's half-flirt half-fight being my personal highlights.
Remember after the disastrous first day of Po as a teacher, and everyone was harsh at him, except for Viper? Shifu did not mention her name while saying who told him the day was a disaster, meaning Viper just accepted Po's lack of teaching skills, and maybe just hoping he will improve. Dispite her especies being associated with poison and betrayal, she was the nicest character on the franchise. We need more friends like Viper. 🐍🐍🐍
I remember there was a scene in one of the series where Viper kisses Po. There might be some romantic feelings between the two. Also, fun fact, Viper does not have poison. That is why she relied on Martial Arts and using her tail.
@@zer0stars, which actually fits into her character as her family was built on venom. Viper's grandfather saved a village using his venom and it was quite the worry during young Viper's life that she could not produce venom Source: Issac Carlson
@@zer0stars I saw that in the end credits of the first movie. Maybe it's true, which would explain why she is is so nice and EVERYTHING IS LINKED !! *starts thinking about fan theory nonsense*
Okay, I missed that Tigress kitten squeak until now and it is adorable. Stripey baby indeed. The Po and Tigress relationship is one of my absolute favorite things in this series. The genuine friendship they build is heartwarming and I love how it doesn't sacrfice anything of their characters for it.
Tigress is like the only strong independent DreamWorks female character. Who doesn't have a boyfriend, from three movies She has been in. Tipo fans, will be triggered
@@tme1518 To be fair, although both of those female characters have boyfriends (by the end of the movie), they were both strong, independent characters BEFORE they met their men. They didn't need the men to be strong.
The mantis and crane conversation about “ WINGS OF ____________” captures the exact precious meaningless pieces of conversation you’d find in a laid back dnd game with friends .
"What kind of egotistical weirdo would someone have to be to name a spell after themselves? I mean, MORDANKAINEN'S Magnificent Mansion? Absurd" (This is not my opinion. If I created a spell, I would 100% name it after myself. Also, Tasha did it and she's freakin' awesome)
That which is meaningless among friends has all the more meaning... ...and that quote that I just made up makes about as much sense as a laid back conversation with friends.
One of my favorite things about Kai is something my brother pointed out. He's obsessed with amassing everyone else's power for himself, and LITERALLY has the green eyes of envy.
@@IconicEnemy His intention was to destroy kung fu, just like Shen, and destroy Oogway's legacy. When he comes to the mortal realm for the first time and sent his warriors to get Po, he even says "By the time I am done with him, no-one will remember your name". implying that he intends to destroy Oogway's legacy. He hates that no one remembers him after all these years (except Po), yet Oogway is praised and remembered as a hero, even after he is sent to the Spirit Realm. This, in a way, is probably another reason that he felt betrayed by Oogway.
I love how at 3:05 when Mr. Ping says “I’m already awesomely proud” the bunny kid offers their Dragon Warrior doll to him. It’s just an adorable background thing that I’ve never noticed while watching the film.
I'm going to add one more win that only makes sense in the context of the whole trilogy: In the first film - Kung Fu is really only the province of the few. We only see the main cast do it, and Po is repeatedly told that he can't do it. There's a clear distinction between can's and can't's. The last scene of this film is massively different. Everyone is doing Kung Fu. It's not a display, it's become a group celebration. Anyone - panda or not - can be the best they can be. Kung Fu is open to anyone now. Po changed the world.
It speaks to a very old adage I once heard. "When I was young, I wanted to change the world. Then, my continent. Then, my country. Then, my state. Then, my city. Then, my neighborhood. Then, my friends. And only now, as an old man, do I realize I can only change myself. But, if I had changed myself, I could've changed my friends, changed my neighborhood, changed my city, changed my state, changed my country, changed my continent, and ultimately, I would've changed the world." Po didn't change, per se, but he became more confident in who he is and what he can do. He bettered himself. In doing so, he bettered those around him, and those around those who he bettered, all the way up. He bettered the world.
All three are pretty scary. When Tai Lung opens his eyes in the prison, he looks terrifying. Legitimately terrifying. Shen, I don't even have to explain. His presence itself is nightmare fuel (no wonder the wolves and gorillas obey him). Kai before he takes down Crane in the dark is nightmare fuel too. The glowing eyes really sell it.
One thing that I noticed in all three movies is.. Kung Fu Panda: Most of the scenes were set in the morning/afternoon. Kung Fu Panda 2: Majority of the scenes were set during night time. Kung Fu Panda 3: It was mostly scenes that took place during dusk. Whether or not there's a deeper meaning to this, I'm not sure. But it's just something I noticed.
Hmmmm, how about the morning is the yin part (present), the night is yang (past), and the last one is the perfect mix between yin and yang, creating dusk (present and past combine to move on to the future). That would be absolute harmony (or just me going too far lol). Anyways, that's such a cool thing you noticed!
@@DuyenTran-op5xl Makes sense movie one was about the body and the present, the second had to do with the mind and the past and finally the third movie is about the spirit and the future
Random fact: “Kai” have the same pronunciation as the word “ใคร” that mean “Who” so in the Thai dub it just sounds Kai introduced himself as who which for some reason make me chuckle whenever I rewatch
I mean, it's fitting when you consider he has no power of his own, or even an identity really, all of it is based around the power of others and his need for revenge
6:57 I'm so sad that there was no mention that the song for Kai's theme is actually a remix version of I'm So Sorry by Imagine Dragons who was of course composed by Hans Zimmer, and the song makes sense for this film and character since the song tells of a man who is sure of himself, of course careful from the mistakes in the past, he has the power in his hands ("Chi" and "spirits") dangerous but it's what motivates him the most! I hope that made sense but if not sorry I'm not so good at explaining.
I also feel like the scene after Po leaves the spirit realm and talks to Shifu should be a win. It's just funny watching Shifu's reaction to Po having met Oogway again and master Chi and him going "of course you did" as he knowingly sighs and asks Po to teach him. It's also kinda a follow up from the 2nd one where Shifu notes that Po has found inner peace and already at such a young age as he seems to contemplate how hard it was for him to do it.
@5:52 One thing I forgot, that a lot of people probably forget or don’t think about... Viper is a Master because of Ribbon Dancing. Because she was born with no fangs, she has no venom, and as such turned to Ribbon Dancing to bring happiness to her father. The fact that Mei Mei here is learning Ribbon Dancing is a nice reference to that, and you mentioned it was the closest thing to Kung Fu, so... Viper and Mei Mei would become good friends thanks to Ribbon Dancing!
In my opinion it's the sole movie that breaks the dreamworks terrible trilogy paradox. The theory that the third movie of a series made by dreamworks is bad which this one isn't
@@glendarjj3991 True, but it's a little unfair to compare it to Panda 2, that movie was fantastic, but the visuals and the soundtrack of 3 put it above 1 imo
Kai's Theme is a cover of I'm So Sorry by Imagine Dragons, which is incredibly poetic since the lyrics of the song are sort of reflecting the overarching lesson of this movie, which is about giving. Rather, in the song's case, how the singer is sorry he can't give more than he is. The story is also about giving. Po needs to GIVE what he learned and his experience to others by being a teacher, as well as GIVE others the skills they need to realize their potential. Li Shan needs to learn to GIVE his son independence, respect, AND truth, despite just getting him back. Mr. Ping needs to learn to GIVE Li Shan the chance to be a good father, so they can both GIVE more to Po. Kai is THE ONLY ONE taking in this film. So this song reflects EXACTLY what he needs to do to redeem himself. Meanwhile he is doing the exact opposite. In fact, while he is being introduced to each of the characters, the song plays, as if it is a warning to Kai. "you still have a chance to give back what you have taken! it isn't too late!" But every time, as he is taking chi, the music changes to something sad, and the notes go deeper, as if part of himself is being suppressed deeper inside of him, and replaced by something else.
Probably my favorite thing about this entire trilogy is how comprehensive it is. Tai Lung represents the power of the body. Lord Shen represents the power of the mind. And Kai represents the power of the spirit. Tai Lung comes first because training the body is the easiest. Kai is last because the spirit is abstract, even more so than the mind, and so is the final level for Po. At the end of the trilogy, he’s completed a full character arc.
I feel like we needed more from Oogway's past in this movie. If you listen to his past and look at Kai, it comes across as Oogway possibly being a bad guy in his youth. And it was only through his near death and the healing from the pandas that he changed his life. His past kinda reminded me of Iroh from Avatar the Last Airbender. A conquering general who was feared by his enemies, who ended up feeling the pain he inflicted on others which helped him change his ways and try to make amends as best he could for the terrible things they did. I have more thoughts on this I can't fully articulate due to beer. X3
To be fair, the first movie implies that he invented Kung Fu. It stands to reason that he was a blood knight when he was younger, always trying to perfect the style through confrontation with other combat forms.
@@davidhong1934 yea and this is kind of backed up by all the "trophies" that are kept and Po fanboys over I am gonna guess that these martial masters didn't leave behind their prized possessions so a panda can fanboy over it I'm gonna guess oogway beat them all and they left weapons as spoils
One thing I kinda appreciate about the film series is that, despite them practically making it a running gag that Po surpasses everyone in an absurdly quick fashion, it never really comes off like that. Po never really comes off as someone who's 'better' than his peers in everything that makes them talented, and I think it's because well, not only does he remain an adorably clumsy fanboy, but the way Po learns is through the influence of everyone around him. Po learns quick because he is humble and willing to learn and take notes from just about anybody and anything around him, he is not inherently talented. Sure pandas are chi masters in the blood, but it still takes experience and all his friends' contributions to make him one. Guys like Shifu and Tigress meanwhile are immensely talented in their field, but spent years hindered by extreme flaws or stubborn self esteem issues, the belief there was only one convoluted way to become a master, one 'secret ingredient'. When Po returned the favour and enlightened them, they proved as fast learners as him.
One of the details I just noticed and love, Every villain in this series has a main color that Po overtakes/defeats, like tai lung was electric blue(he sends him into the spirit realm with a warm yellow explosion), shen is red(po diverts the red canonballs and they turn yellow) and now jade green(Po overtakes the spirit realm with his signature yellow) love this detail!
So they actually *did* know that this movie was going to happen when they wrote the first film. Apparently when they came up with this franchise, they wrote it to be somewhere around six films long. I don't know how much of that is true between the Legends of Awesomeness series and the Paws of Destiny series (both of which seem to be somewhat canon, since PoD references events from LoA in the first season, but LoA is clearly set between KFP 2 and 3), but I'm pretty sure the mainline series films were definitely planned to be that way, and that's why their writing holds up so well. between the films. They went in with a plan, and executed it flawlessly.
I agree with everything you just said dude😅😁 I hope someday they make the other 3 movies no matter how long it takes because DreamWorks makes gold and memorable moments with these movie franchise, along with shrek and Madagascar
Actually, DreamWorks did something similar with "How to Train Your Dragon". the first between-movie TV series, Riders/Defenders of Berk, has some plot points and characters (like Heather, Johann, Dagger, etc.) who carry over and have their stories expanded in the Netflix series, Race to The Edge, which came out after the second film. Maybe DreamWorks just puts that much attention to detail in their movies?
The 3 movies are actually representative of "body" "mind" and "spirit" respectively, the three pillars of Kung Fu. In each movie Po learns one. E.g, in the first movie (body) he learns Kung Fu and realises you have to be yourself. In the second movie (mind) he came to terms with his past and learned to let go of hate And in the third movie (spirit) he learns chi and visits the spirit world I just think it's very cool that the writers thought about that, especially since its not shoved in your face and not something the average viewer would pick up on.
I also really like the little touch that, at the end of the movie when the little panda girl had Mantis as a doll he easily could have escaped from her grasp if he wanted- he's shows that he's crafty with villains and I think he can get away from a little panda if he wanted, but he stills let's her play with him even if he doesn't wanna be played with. Its just sorta cute to me :)
12:23 Can we win the fact when Po says "A student?" He makes a hand gesture as if accepting something that is being handed to him, And when he says "A teacher?" He makes a hand gesture suggesting he is handing something over.
Okay, but I totally agree on the second one. Such a little talked about movie that has stunning animation that still holds up today and a very interesting world and plot.
U should watch the first is a beautiful movie from an animation and story standpoint. (It is re telling a religious tale that being the story of Moses) however, even if you're not Christian or Jewish its a phenomenal movie either way.
HOLY YES. To them both! The story in Prince of Egypt is great, not to mention Lee, as the music guy, would adore it. Guardians has top top top notch animation and great world/storybuilding.
There are so many emotional moments in this film that I just love. Po’s “You just did” moment on the bridge feels like such new territory for him because it’s one of the only times we see him mad at someone he clearly doesn’t want to be mad at. Mr. Ping’s talk with Po’s biological dad was also great. I’m a sucker for father-son stories and having two fathers in one story makes it even more interesting to me.
You missed one win, in kfp2 Po needs help from his friends whenever he jumps off from high places but in kfp3 he straight up dives in and lands perfectly. I love the way they show his improvement during the whole franchise, not only spiritually/emotionally but concerning his physical abilities too. It is and will always be my fave animated trilogy. Btw, i love your videos!
As far as I know Jennifer Yuh Nelson directed that dream sequence. And when she became director on KFP 2 and returned for 3 she clearly went back to that dream sequence and used many of the details for those movies.
rewatched this, and i noticed, when shifu talks to po after his failed teaching lesson, he says monkey, tigress, mantis, and crane told shifu that po was a bad teacher, viper did not, Viper doesn't talk bad about po to shifu, and i thought that was really sweet of her
Cinemasins is so nitpicky and petty about movies, complaining about every cliché, moment that doesn't make much sense etc. Would just make it much harder for me to enjoy films. I agree it is better to focus on the positivity, even when in these videos there are points that make no sense and are kinda dumb it's still lighthearted and makes you like the movie more xD
Cinemasins videos are for purely comedic purposes whereas these are more in-depth video essays. The only similiarity between them is the channel names. So if you don't like Cinemasins' videos it just means you don't like that comedic style.
Also the first two did everything this movie did but better. There were a few good scenes and a few good jokes (and the movie looked immaculate) but it was overall weaker. It’s still a decent movie and I didn’t regret watching this one.
Kung fu Panda 1 is all around Shifu’s past and what happens becouse of it 2 is all about Po’s past and what it leads to 3 is all about Oogway’s past and what happend with his friend Kung fu Panda in a nutshell
Missed win: Tai Lung jade capsule on Kai's belt. He considered Tai Lung enough of a master to steal his chi, too. Edit: Okay nevermind you noticed it, too. Then... You get ten wins for noticing tiny details and being so thorough.
10:33 I actually got a similar response in high school during Halloween. One student dressed up as the Phantom of the Opera and actually placed his hands on my shoulders saying "FINALLY" when I mentioned what he was. My guess is that he kept being mistaken for a vampire with a scarred face because of the attire, but that was what I initially thought he was before I knew for sure.
Mantis and Crane doing the _"Blank_ of" bit also ties into the fives relationship with Po. He's always doing these dramatic battle cries (e.g. "Feet of Fury"), and it's rubbed off on these two
11:12 - My favorite part in the whole movie was the "Dad! Dad! *Dads!"* line. Beyond the whole sticking it to "Family Values" Christians that shriek at the notion of two parents being the same gender regardless of context, it's a small moment that shows by Ping was wrong to be hesitant about Po's biological dad being in his life. Because in the end, family isn't about whose blood you share, it's about who loves you, cares about you, and wants to be in your life. To me, Po saying "Dads!" is more than just a situational gag related to the two teaming up, it's Po proving Ping's fears, that Po would see him differently now that his biological father is back in the picture, wrong. That even if his "real" dad is back, that doesn't change who Ping is to Po.
@@dominicochoa9925 Eh, sticking it to bigots doesn't have to be necessary in a given context for it to be good. Homophobes always deserve a solid takedown.
I always chose to believe that Kai never used Oogway's Jade statue form because he didn't know whether Oogway would gain any form of control. He doesn't have a 100% guarantee that the Oogway statue would be completely his, or if such a skilled user of Chi like Oogway- not to mention the only person he knew in life that was totally harmonious AND that he knew could beat him- would be on his side or not, even in that form. Its respect for Oogway's power and ability, and a little fear, that keeps him from using him like that.
There is something I've noticed about the Villains in this series. Each one, except Tai-Lung, focuses on the opposite that Po needs to move forward. Tai-Lung can't imagine a present where he ISN'T the Dragon Warrior. Shen is wholly obsessed with the prophecy of his defeat while Po accepts his past. And Kai wants to reclaim his past. At the same time, Po looks to his future.
Tai Lung can also still be ranked in there, given what he wants from the Dragon Scroll it can't deliver. Po realises the real message behind it and appreciates that wisdom. Tai Lung goes nuts and sees it as nothing.
I kinda love that Tai Lung still went to the spirit realm and was recognized as a master, because despite his many faults, he was incredibly skilled at Kung Fu and dedicated to the art
I just realised, when Po overloads Kai and he "Explodes", the shot is on Po. we don't see Kai actually die, we only hear it. And y'know what? so does Po. He has his eyes closed. And he isn't smiling, he isn't happy anymore. he's Serious. He KNOWS He's full-on Destroying Kai, it's nothing to Joke about. He's Stoic and straight as he knows Exactly what he's doing. And I think it was on purpose. like, being respectful to Kai in his last moment, in a way. He'd had his fun, but now it was time to end it. For *good.* And he does. He breaks *His* Character to do the serious thing and save everyone that Kai took control of. And in doing so, he also saves the *World.* As Kai most likelywould not stop until he has all the *Power* In the world.
Someone on Reddit once said the main themes for all of the Kung Fu Panda movies were: Body, Mind and Spirit which goes with the main themes with the Chinese/Kung Fu teachings.
There's actually a little bit of continuity to the whole "Wings Of _____" thing that Crane has going for him. He says "Wings of Justice" in the second movie when he blows the sails of Shen's ships.
I always appreciate how much this series basks in being light hearted. That it can have earnest and powerful storytelling, but it doesn't have to make the universe 'serious' to accomplish that and that a lot of what makes Po an effective and likeable protagonist is the very fact he is a fallible clown. KFP2 was good but it had a worrying feel like next time they might try to surpass that drama and make an even darker work akin to Harry Potter and Star Wars, when I think KFP2 was that perfect limit in that regard, so KFP3 staying in its roots and a light hearted character driven piece I appreciate. I also love how much they deconstruct things here, seeing Po weaponise all his goofball panda brethren and their niches, while the serious Tigress is comic relief from how lost she is, it's such a clever twist that still respects their characterisations. Seriously putting half the cast in 'wackyland' after the last two movies were about Po crashing a serious minded conflict, that's a clever premise to make this one unique.
I like to think that oogway was evil, and turned good, based on Kai’s nicknames and that fact that they were basically warlords They don’t sound so heroic
I think he was moreso ambitious when he developed Kung fu. Furthering his career he became a warlord due to his influence and fame throughout China. Shifu has noted that Oogway still took a while to find enlightenment. So I wouldn't say he was evil, moreso that he was misguided but changed after near death experience and meeting the guardian pandas.
A detail that took me so long to notice, if you look at the statue in the jade palace of the dragon on the ceiling, it's detailed and scary while the chi dragon po makes looks like the dragon costume used in Kung fu panda 2 by the five, cute and silly. It fits with Po's personality that he is funny and light hearted.
Fun fact: the scene with ducks talking about Po, well in the Australian release, they have an Aussie accent, were as the American release is American accent.
I knew it as soon as I heard it. Every time Kai would enter I would sing "I'm so sorry". Also it makes me think that some part of him is apologizing to the people he's about to remove the chi from.
8:08 there is actually an explanation for this: When Po fails to wuxi finger hold Kai and Kai brings back his jade warriors/jombies you can see him grow in size- implying that he is stronger when he holds the chi then when he releases it. Oogway and Tai Lung likely have a lot more "chi energy" than the other kung fu fighters so he keeps them on him (to be more powerful)
you can also use cinimawins explanation too in their exchange at the beginning of the film the banter they have made it sound like old friends that haven't seen each other in awhile seriously for a guy whose been locked in the spirit world for 500 years dude has no malice in his voice
It may also be because if he does make them the jombies, they would be so strong in chi that they can break out and not really be controlled by anyone. That was my analogy from when I watched it the first time
I like that they brought back Kung Fu fighting as the closing song for the series (or the Po trilogy, if they ever decide to make more movies). They used it in the first movie, and brought it back in the last. Using both chinese and American lyrics too, to represent the production of this movie in particular.
An awesome detail I just thought of is that all the villains in real life are aggressive animals Tai Lung- Snow Leopard Shen-Peacock Kai-Bull (yes, bulls are aggressive animals) I really like that detail. Also every fighting style kinda has a center around the animal they are.
Truly. Snow leopards are very offensive in combat, impossible to evade with a head on attack. They have claws and a muscular body to leap forward and strike opponents with precision, exactly what Tai Lung does. Peacocks are much more defensive, using their tails to intimidate enemies and using talons to kick, deflect and absorb impact, like Shen. Bulls are hard to evade defense or offense, like Kai. It's hard to overcome the sheer power of a charging bull head on and even with an ambush, their hooves, weight, horns and surprising agility for their size sells it.
Well, in this video, the narrator did predict there'd be more movies to come, and I believe the plan is for Kung Fu Panda to be a sextet (or 6-movie) franchise.
Kai destroying the Jade Palace to some people is heartbreaking but to me it’s just impressive because I love seeing an amazing feats of power like that
Definitely Im So Sorry. Feels like it took big inspiration from 7 Nation Army (not the song itself, but how it treats [modulates?] sound..pitch, heights, i dont how its properly called in english)
The Chinese character that you assumed was "Chi" on the scroll was actually "Gway", which is turtle. It does look kinda similar to "Chi" in that writing style.
Finally! We're all waiting for this, this trilogy is such a masterpiece. The 3rd one wrapped everything really well. It's like they all planned for it from the very beginning Don't worry Tigress, we're all just as confused as you. But like a certain wise guy said *_"Life _**_-uh-_**_ finds a way"_*
While requests are being made I would like to ask for two movies: 1. The Princess Bride It has been requested a lot, just making sure. 2. Elf Christmas is coming, and I was suprised to see that you hadn't done it yet. I think it would be a great fit for the channel.
When this movie first came out, I wanted to go see it, but I couldn’t. I was 15-16 at the time. Since then, every time I planned on watching it something happened. This year I finally got the chance to see it, at 21 years old, and I cried, it was such a perfect ending. Loved it
I want to know, how does Kai do all those fancy tricks with his chain-blades-things? It’s a huge part of his character and a good combat technique, you can be slow and heavy hitting of confuse your enemy with a flurry if lighter attacks. Also, he deals heavy single-shot damage with those things.
There's one little thing that I realized just now... The 5 were impressed by the ability of the masters to talk simultaniously, and they try to organise themself in order to do it back... They actually do it just seconds later 4:04.
The "free dental work" at 14:43 had me REELING. 😂 Also, you HAVE to do an Everything Great About Labrinth to redeem the Everything Wrong With Labrinth or I will never forgive you. 😡
4:22 That’s the traditional Chinese character of tortoise/turtle(龟/龜)written in cursive font(草书) I think. So it make sense since it transforms into master oogway. Edit: You can see the writing of qi(氣might be a different font) on the left in this particular frame at 4:21 It’s different.
Of the three movies, this one is my favorite. As a kid, my father insisted that I learn how to "kick butt." Although it was completely unintentional the school he sent me to learn was headed by a little Korean man that taught mind, spirit, body in that order. You need your mind to process, your spirit to balance, and the body to act. He used the example of giving a hug. You first need to understand the situation that a person needs a hug, your spirit balances the mutual need of that hug and the emotion behind it, and your body follows through. Yes, he did teach me to 'kick butt' but more than that, he taught me the essence of true Kung Fu that I see in every detail of this movie. @@beowuff42 wow just wow :0
Kai's destruction, explained:
The more Chi you give willingly, the more Chi you have.
That is a very good analysis. It is even mentioned by Oogway that “the more you take, the less you have.”
That’s a bit scary, to just *nonexist* taking so much.
It also explains why Kai's weakness was chi too.
omg right
So then Kai went to 'The second afterlife" a.k.a. the place that all dead Hazbin Hotel characters go to
I will always love Tigress's agreeement whenever Po is admitting he's bad at something throughout the series. KFP1 it was disdainful agreement hoping to put him down.
@@ihaveagun3183 I noticed that in the firsthand too!
That was very sweet. He saw Ping was upset and thought his toy would make him feel better.
I'm going to add one more win that only makes sense in the context of the whole trilogy:
In the first film - Kung Fu is really only the province of the few.
Everyone really is doing Kung Fu fighting
Lee said best, “Kung fu Panda world is gonna be a better place”
It speaks to a very old adage I once heard.
"When I was young, I wanted to change the world. Then, my continent. Then, my country. Then, my state. Then, my city. Then, my neighborhood. Then, my friends. And only now, as an old man, do I realize I can only change myself. But, if I had changed myself, I could've changed my friends, changed my neighborhood, changed my city, changed my state, changed my country, changed my continent, and ultimately, I would've changed the world."
Po didn't change, per se, but he became more confident in who he is and what he can do. He bettered himself. In doing so, he bettered those around him, and those around those who he bettered, all the way up. He bettered the world.
I love the fact that unlike the other two villains Kai takes himself far less seriously but can still have intimidating moments with more ease.
Well I think the moments of chillax side is probably why he was Oogway's brother in arm
Kai can afford to make jokes cuz he has the power to back it up, currently being the most powerful Kung Fu Panda villain
@@rickyronny4019he has that Power

I mean, "the son of stepfather. The son of an I'm so sorry" is pretty spot on for Po's two dads

One thing I forgot, that a lot of people probably forget or don’t think about...

Great movie bar the villain. Kai has nothing on shen or tai lung
Great comment my guy
yeah
Thanks. That actually helped me figure out why they used that beat!!!
I was about to comment this
That is one of the best uses of music in any film I've ever seen.
Yeo your right indeed...
You actually articulated that very well lol
I’m pretty sure that implication was purposeful.

Maybe DreamWorks just puts that much attention to detail in their movies?
Actually, I think LoA takes place between KFP 1 & 2.
The 3 movies are actually representative of "body" "mind" and "spirit" respectively, the three pillars of Kung Fu. In each movie Po learns one.
E.g, in the first movie (body) he learns Kung Fu and realises you have to be yourself.
In the second movie (mind) he came to terms with his past and learned to let go of hate
And in the third movie (spirit) he learns chi and visits the spirit world

Also at that part idk if I'm tripping but is the pan Pebg is using the same one that Po used against Tai Lung?
Anti-religious nod really wasn't necessary for that point to be made, but a good point nonetheless. Good catch, my good contrarian🎩

Yeah same i always just tought it was because oogway was to powerful
Po also reaches out to them. He shows Tai Lung the meaning of the scroll, Shen the way to find peace and Kai how chi is rightfully earned.

Fun fact: Po’s drip he gets when he transforms in the spirit world is like his outfit in his dream during the first movie

I like to think that oogway was evil, and turned good, based on Kai’s nicknames and that fact that they were basically warlords
They don’t sound so heroic
If he sings Leaves from the Vine I’m gonna lose it 🤣
I think he was moreso ambitious when he developed Kung fu.

Kung Fu Panda 3: “What makes you you.”
Fun fact: Kai's theme is based on the song I'm So Sorry by Imagine Dragons.
I was trying to find a comment that said this! ❤️❤️ They did an amazing job adapting the original song 😍
My favorite imagine dragons song. Incredible.
I knew it as soon as I heard it. Every time Kai would enter I would sing "I'm so sorry". Also it makes me think that some part of him is apologizing to the people he's about to remove the chi from.
Source? It sounds similar, but I'm not convinced it was actually based on the song.
Edit: Never mind. Paul Mounsey is credited in the song.
@@syphiriusprime7411 This! Every time his theme plays, I picture the same thing, like part of Kai feels regret for his path.
8:08 there is actually an explanation for this:
When Po fails to wuxi finger hold Kai and Kai brings back his jade warriors/jombies you can see him grow in size- implying that he is stronger when he holds the chi then when he releases it.
Oogway and Tai Lung likely have a lot more "chi energy" than the other kung fu fighters so he keeps them on him (to be more powerful)
That actually makes a bunch of sense.
you can also use cinimawins explanation too
in their exchange at the beginning of the film the banter they have made it sound like old friends that haven't seen each other in awhile
seriously for a guy whose been locked in the spirit world for 500 years dude has no malice in his voice
It may also be because if he does make them the jombies, they would be so strong in chi that they can break out and not really be controlled by anyone. That was my analogy from when I watched it the first time
Fun fact: Oogway is turtle in Mandarin if you add a little Chinese accent

I like that they brought back Kung Fu fighting as the closing song for the series (or the Po trilogy, if they ever decide to make more movies). They used it in the first movie, and brought it back in the last. Using both chinese and American lyrics too, to represent the production of this movie in particular.

An awesome detail I just thought of is that all the villains in real life are aggressive animals
Tai Lung- Snow Leopard
Shen-Peacock
Kai-Bull (yes, bulls are aggressive animals)
I really like that detail.
Also every fighting style kinda has a center around the animal they are.
I love that when you had to specify that one of these was an aggressive animal, it wasn't the peacock, no, it was the bull.
@@selectivelysocial7117 you wouldn’t think that I would have to, but some people need it explained

About time. The trilogy was bound to be completed
Well, in this video, the narrator did predict there'd be more movies to come, and I believe the plan is for Kung Fu Panda to be a sextet (or 6-movie) franchise.
also, the three stories follow “body, mind, spirit” which is a very big deal in chinese culture as it is all about balance. love this trilogy.
Kai destroying the Jade Palace to some people is heartbreaking but to me it’s just impressive because I love seeing an amazing feats of power like that
Man I knew literally nothing about KFP and I still cried during that scene 😂
Wait, i can go back?
_Who knows, i never tried_
Im pretty sure Kai's theme is the instrumental version of the imagine dragons song im so sorry
Certainly sounds like it
It is, and it’s a more eastern version of it
I thought the exact same thing
Definitely Im So Sorry. Feels like it took big inspiration from 7 Nation Army (not the song itself, but how it treats [modulates?] sound..pitch, heights, i dont how its properly called in english)
Except BETTER
The Chinese character that you assumed was "Chi" on the scroll was actually "Gway", which is turtle. It does look kinda similar to "Chi" in that writing style.
Finally! We're all waiting for this, this trilogy is such a masterpiece. The 3rd one wrapped everything really well.
It's like they all planned for it from the very beginning
Don't worry Tigress, we're all just as confused as you. But like a certain wise guy said *_"Life _**_-uh-_**_ finds a way"_*

1. The Princess Bride
It has been requested a lot, just making sure.
2. Elf
Christmas is coming, and I was suprised to see that you hadn't done it yet. I think it would be a great fit for the channel.
Especially Elf. I hate that movie and don't know why people love it. I like Will Ferrell, but it just rubs me in all the wrong ways.
I was happy on 12:29 that we finally got the dragon warrior outfit from po’s dream from the first film and video game
The symbol that oogway used in the beginning means air/breath. Hence why when Kai was hit with it, he immediately fell down and lost his breath.
Yep but it also can mean the literal "Chi" or pronounced "Qi"
When this movie first came out, I wanted to go see it, but I couldn’t. I was 15-16 at the time. Since then, every time I planned on watching it something happened. This year I finally got the chance to see it, at 21 years old, and I cried, it was such a perfect ending. Loved it
I want to know, how does Kai do all those fancy tricks with his chain-blades-things? It’s a huge part of his character and a good combat technique, you can be slow and heavy hitting of confuse your enemy with a flurry if lighter attacks. Also, he deals heavy single-shot damage with those things.
I was literally just watching everything great about the first 2 movies 🤯

this trilogy is the def of see one do one teach one.
move 1: see one
movie 2: do one

change my mind
Even Ping realizing that his love for Po is best when it's unselfish is a wonderful example of Kung Fu.
Did not notice this till now but look at the shadow on the rope bridge at 8:40 it's such a small detail but it makes the small portion it's there even better
