Moana was a pretty big hit when it came out in 2016, but it became even more popular when it hit Disney Plus, becoming the most streamed movie on their platform. Naturally Disney wanted more- this time in the form of a streaming series. Wait, no- a movie! Yeah, a movie.
Moana 2 does raise some questions. Like why does this feel like it should have been a TV show? Why are there so many new characters that don’t do anything? What’s up with that bat lady just suddenly not being evil? What are Moana’s powers now?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside Ryan George’s Pitch Meeting for Moana 2!

Changing a tv show into a movie after it was finished is TIGHT!!!
I just love how Disney is so PRONE to stupidity
At least the pacing will be.
Out of all the things to make fun of, why are they choosing this? Would you really choose a TV show over a movie? I thought the movie and some of its songs were pretty good, I just wish they got Lin Manuel Miranda
WHAT!!!!????
they made an entire show....? I mean finished making it....
I would be so furious if I worked on this series as an animator or something

@@joshhardy5646 Yeah, but Disney needed a sequel, because money is better in large groups.

Love how producer guy just completely loses it at the end there. 😂 pretty lore accurate to Modern Disney.
The fact that Moana 2 was originally meant to be a TV show is giving me flashbacks to those Disney direct-to-video "movies" that have three episodes in them. Belle's Magical World, Atlantis: Milo's Return, etc.
That Atlantis 2 movie was super confusing to watch as a kid
Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar.
It is literally the first few episodes of the Aladdin tv series. I love that show.

@@LivingFire_BurningFlame The sad thing is it didn't have to be that way. If they had longer than 10 months--at LEAST until fall 2025--they could've reorganized it, making the characters more impactful, the journey more epic, and the songs more engaging.
It basically is that just modern.

I'm surprised there was no mention of the fact that Maui is the one who pulled up the islands from the ocean in the first place as mentioned in the first movie. Almost makes it seem as if he could have resolved the whole situation by himself.
but then we won't have Moana.
So, HEY Shut up!
Exec: But Maui is more powerful
Writer: But then we now have an excuse to make Moana a super as well
Exec: I just realised we have someone like Thanos, having minions with powers or strengths and him being well a weather god. Is this another sneaky attempt at an Avengers movie sequel bait?
He didn't pull up islands that were cursed by an evil God though. It literally says only humans can break the curse.
Ah, this is the danger of letting hollywood retcon your mythology. Ignorant people will usually think the retcon is factual.

Seeing Pitch Meetings for movies you will never watch is oddly satisfying.
Saw the first one on a whim on DVD. The trailer for the 2nd popped up soon after. Went "that's crap, it's got no soul."

@@jameshill4589 I don't think this is a hot take, or dumb
The first Moana movie was soo good but I wasn't expecting a sequel since it felt complete... And soon a live-action remake? Disney's creativity in a nutshell.
It’s like we want to support good ideas so they see that they’re good and make more but then instead of that they just go “aha, money!” and remake the same ideas over and over because they can’t figure out why it worked the first time and transfer that to new stories.
But didn't How To Train Your Dragon feel complete to people? Kung Fu Panda? Wreck-It Ralph? I'm not sure that argument fits so snugly with animated films. Especially since now studios release stuff like Dune, Across/Beyond the Spiderverse, and Wicked where they PURPOSEFULLY only release half a story for the first movie, but like...that is not hiow it always was, this is super recent, yes Back to the Future and LOTR did something to that effect but A) Not animated and B) That is a trilogy so not like, "Oh this is actually one movie but we cut it in half to make more money." I guess Harry Potter actually started that but that was because Goblet of Fire had to cut so much out.

Like Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, From here to Eternity, or Ben Hur. Or any of the many great movies made before 1970.
Great idea!
He said once before why he doesn't usually do Pitch Meetings for older movies. You might notice that every video ends with a headline from a Screen Rant article. Agreed
@@PhysicalMediaPreventsWea-bx1zm What's wrong with ScreenRant writing some articles about classic movies?
It's about marketability as well. Making pitch meetings of classics which aren't even talked about anymore, isn't going to generate much traction and views. Not to mention the question of his personal interest in those old movies, because being forced to sit through content you don't even like (hypothetically speaking) is always going to be a really rough experience.

For Charles Schulz happiness was a warm puppy. For The Beetles happiness was a warm gun. For me happiness is clicking on the TH-cam home page and finding a new Pitch Meeting. New Pitch Meetings are TIGHT!!!
Introducing an otherwise insignificant bat-themed Batgirl-ish character who was thought to be bad but ended up being mildly helpful at only adding a song to the movie's runtime was something that not even the "I am Batman" Batman had the power to do.
The first 10 seconds was so accurate. The movie felt like episodes of a TV show. I just wish he did that bit if he ever did a Despicable Me 4 Pitch Meeting. 😅
I believe that that is what actually happened to Moana 2
This was my biggest complaint for Moana 2 in general. 200 million dollar tv series that’s scrapped and horribly recycled into shorter content which kind of proves the script would not turn out great in the overall end for the final product of the movie
Moana 2 is literally a Disney+ show they turned into a film. Like it actually is that not joking.
Out of all the things to make fun of, why are they choosing this? Would you really choose a TV show over a movie? I thought the movie and some of its songs were pretty good, I just wish they got Lin Manuel Miranda
Yeah but as people pointed out Moana 2 literally IS a Disney Plus show forced to be a movie because of how horrid the last major Disney movies have been doing and them wanting another success. Like say what you want about Despicable Me 4 but it was MEANT to be a film and made as a film... you can argue how much it works as one but it didn't start out as a show unlike Moana 2.
Once again a movie I haven't seen but I like watching the Pitch Meetings lol
