Great review buddy!!! This is 100% custom as I designed the entire build, Andre is amazing to work with, by far the best customer service I have ever experienced in the knife industry. Can't wait for you to review the other masterpieces my good friend.
Andre is in my top 5 favorite makers. His designs are totally bespoke. You either love them or hate them. I agree with you on the cleavers, however. Definitely wilder than a Chris Reeves. South Africa definitely has some great knife makers.
One issue I have with ADV's knives is that unless you're looking at one of his higher end customs, its really hard to tell if its a custom or a mid tech (or whatever nomenclature is appropriate). Ive seen KnifeCenter definitively call most of their Pitbosses (of which I have one and a friend has one) "mid tech" . The one I have is much more standard with just CF and anodized edges, and im pretty confident it's a mid tech. However my friends' is completely customized top to bottom with finishing and certainly looks more like a "custom". It doesn't however feature the hinge pocket clip like my full custom ADV Ronin does. It seems to me through research that most of Andre's customs have a hinge pocket clip. My main issue is that he provides no information on this anywhere and also offers customization services for any knife (which to me doesn't make a knife a "custom"). These days I pretty much just look at the features and the price of the ADV to determine if it's custom or mid tech. I wish there was a more definitive way to know what you were looking at.
I’m pretty sure my ADV butcher was the first of his you saw. I’m still a big fan. And, it was because of Jim Skelton that I pursued it. He’s forever getting us! Oh, and, South Africa
Everything South African is bad ass lol. It was and maybe still is the carjacking capital of the world. A South African inventor in the late 90’s invented The Blaster (also called the "BMW Flamethrower") was a 1998 invention by South African inventor Charl Fourie that functioned as a car-mounted, laterally-firing flamethrower designed to provide a defence against carjackings. 🔥😱

The UFC middle weight champ is south African. Dricus duplessis.
@mattmorrison9379 yes and he keeps dominating with a crazy "unorthodox" "bad" technique just brute force everyone total badass and animal
@WyattWillis88 he's a beast. He does look down and throw punches lol. But it works for him :)

His stuff to too much for me haha...I can def appreciate the craftsmanship though....
Adv doesn't make anything smaller does he?
@@EugeneSmedlund I don’t think so. They all seem to be on the bigger side.
Yes, he makes mini versions of some of his larger knives.
👍👌
