  • Android isn’t really meant to run on E-Ink and always requires a bit of compromise to use it on E-Ink tabets like this. One of those compromises is typically the older Android version running on these things.
    With the InkNote X, Bigme stepped up and released the first Android 13 E-Ink tablet recently. It’s still not the newest Android version there is, but it’s one step closer. So let’s check out if that actually matters.

    I have been using Bigme Eink Note Lite for the last year. I have been using it daily for my reading. Bigme has provided many updates, which makes the tablet still better.

      Yes, Bigme does improve over time and especially their E-Ink modes with ghosting reduction are actually very good. Hopefully they'll improve the UI further in the future. Having used the Pocketbook InkPad Eo (which is produced by Bigme), I'm optimistic they'll succeed.

      Ive had my color lite for a while now and the software updates have been incredible. There was an update last year that really improved color controls, ghosting and redraw. Before that it was pretty crummy and i didnt think it was usable for scrolling content.

    Hey Chalid, appreciate your videos immensly and watch them as often as I have the time. Can you please show how a kaleido 3 device performs as a monitor or a remote / secondary display? I really want to see how the color improves the experience. Preferabaly with the front light off.

      I would also love to see that!
      Currently I am using a black and white e-ink Box device as a second screen, I'd love to see how a color Kaleido 3 device works in this situation ❤

    I read somewhere that Android 13 was supposed to bring some power management improvements for e-ink/wearables. This would at least increase the standby time. Any noticable improvements?

      Hard to say, because the InkNote X also got the new SoC. I'd say it's definitely better than other Bigme devices I've tried. Whether this is because of the new chip or the OS I can't really say.

    Nice review, again. 🙂Is the front light and the display brighter than that of the Boox Ultra Pro C? Also the colors seam to have a higher contrast.

      Thanks! No, the Frontlight of the Boox Tab Ultra C Pro is brighter. The InkNote X is actually pretty dim - I think the dimmest 10 inch tablet I've tested so far. But you're correct, the contrast is actually good and color saturation is also pretty sweet.

    JUST BECAME A SUSCRIBER 🎉. Thank you for your videos. I’m new at this and looking to upgrade from my rM2. Why is thie Tab Ultra Pro C still seen as a better device than this one…if technically, this has better specs. Almost everybody says the Tab is better…there are people who even say that the Air3 c is better than this device. THANK YOU

      I think the Bigme InkNote X has good fundamentals, but mostly lacks finetuning. Many of my mentioned issues with the devices can be fixed on the software side. And Boox is generally better here to begin with, so many people will recommend Boox for now - including me.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the Pocketbook Eo seems to be based on the Bigme InkNote Color. Not sure if this is a collaboration with Bigme directly, or of they are both using the reference design by Netronix, which is producing most E-Ink devices AFAIK.

    Bigme inknote devices are much better than Boox devices on everything except Neoreader's capabilities of Boox devices. Software implementation for Eink screen is close to perfection on BigMe devices....Eink settings and screen refresh is as immaculate as it can be for current Eink screen technologies.

    13? Isn't android 15 about to enter beta?

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes, Android 15 beta is coming up. But honestly, it doesn't matter on E-Ink because the main problem isn't the Android version but the missing security patches and UI issues coming from combining Android with E-Ink. Android 13 would be fine, if the custom UI was optimized a bit better.

    • @AlucardNoir
      @AlucardNoir 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChalidRaqami You say that, but if it can access the web you want security. Hell, there are apps that won't work on versions of android that are too old. And the play store has not had the best track record when it comes to not letting malware in.
      On the one hand this is a device that phones home, on the other, that's not reason to, you know, ignore all other security concerns.

    This sound like a typical bigme product. Halfarsed and expensiv. I not once saw a product by bigme which i would lay money down. I think this is a general problem with all of the chinsese devices. They just trow one after another on the market only to see if it sticks. My biggest problem with all of them is the basicly nonexisting mid to longterm support. I mean there are still android 11 devices sold as new.

    • @erikaspausen
      @erikaspausen 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wernerarts This is just wrong. It always depends on the feature. And Features itself in an OS are not important. Support and security updates are important. You don´t get both if your OS is end-of-life.
