maybe you can show with a sim card inserted
We did
Please watch the video, we literally had a whole segment with a lead in saying what it was like as a cell phone. It is close to the beginning of the video
Add E-sim and I'd be all over this one.
I want it so much
i noticed you never turned on mobile data, is that because it is a 2g phone and therefore, useless?
It has 4G LTE for "most countries" (depending on your countrie's frequency I suppose, and there is a list)
@@okutaviof This video is playing in America on an American video channel, I am talking about how those 4g bands are not here, so it is useless
@@johnmonk66 As you pointed out, he didn't actually tested data. It's clearly because he is more of a ereader reviewer. As for the few seconds he turned on data, I could see all the bars. I'm typing from my couch un my redmi and I have also all the bars and no symbols of H, 3g or else. I would like to point out that they claim the phone to have 4G LTE and the table includes frequencies and services providers, such as AT%T and Vodafone.
I have this Unit.
Personally i need this phone to detox from Social Media and excessively "useless, time eating use".
The Android System makes some trouble, i wish it be more like a normal Android and not "overlayed" with the Settings etc from Bigme.
Still possible to go to the normal Android settings , but take some efforts.
My german Sim Card doesn't geht recognized with a Pin Code, so i must take the pin out (its fine for me)
My Garmin Smartwatch loses connection, i tried to change some Batterie settings etc. Doesent work.
Bluetooth for audio works fine.
Loudspeaker is terrible, but Good enough for calls.
I would prefer to buy the B&W Version an not the Color - the Color is not sharp enough
Biggest Problem for me is the NON working Android Auto, wired or Wireless. - that is shitty.
It can be fixed with a update (i think its gonna need to be installed as a System App or something)
I have make a notice to the Bigme Support, hoping that it will work someday.
Otherwise great "digital detox unit" for me.
I
How is your battery life? And you say android auto doesn't work, but how about Google Maps?
Just get a TCL 40 Nxtpaper...
Android 11 ?!
I love this puppy and want to marry him!
If only Kobo or Amazon did something like this.
Despite that, if it had a better speaker, it’s a no brainer. I actually listen to a lot of Spotify on my phone’s speaker. This is lower quality. I wouldn’t go for a downgrade there.
720p screen for a 5.8 inch phone? They are using the Hi-sense old model. Make zero sense. Don't buy that.
i red sonewhere that the reslution of tge colorversion sucked
this poor audio is deal breaker for me... too bad
The Lightphone is another eink screen phone.
Yes, we mentioned that
But it's not a smartphone
If it wants to be an option for a permanently used smart phone it needs up to date android and not Android 11 in 2024!
It is not fair to gauge the version of Android in correlation to what year it currently is when it comes to e-readers
E-readers never have and cannot have the latest Android that LCD phones have
@@goodereader this is a smartphone, not an ereader. And I'm not so sure this is kaleido3
@@goodereader Just for the record. Bigme has an Android 13 device. They must have a good reason to roll back to v. 11 for a smartphone.
RIP BOOX PALMA
I turn my samsung into black and white, and low light, so it almost does the same thing, but longer updates for years.
Not remotely same. You are still staring at a light bulb with LCDs or amoled. With this it's basically like looking at a paper
E-Ink uses less power and is much easier to read in bright sunlight
3:47 hgghh 3:52 grgg
How do you dedicate only 3 seconds for video and image and you waste 5 minutes o my life on how mangas and pdfs can be read... Genius
45 seconds of unedited video + another 40 seconds of camera? = 3 seconds?
please tech me the ways of your mathematics... genius

In Gordon Ramsay own words: _"Damn, what a shame"_
Now that we've made all those who wanted the Boox Palma to be more like a phone happy (I'd really love to know how many among them are really gonna leave their regular phones for an eink one), let's hope someone gives us a regular ereader the size of a phone, with nothing more than what you need for just reading! At a decent price 😎
