This is a really exciting firing of a starter gun for color eink phones. It doesn't look like there are any compromises here outside of no speakers. Even the video refresh looks great. I think the 2nd or 3rd generation of this product could absolutely be a daily driver phone.

Thanks for the great review! I am still waiting till my device arrives. I bought it to use it like a dumb phone. Besides it is not dumb but it makes consuming distracting media a lot less appealing. The thing is I really love my iPhone. But at some point I realized it’s just too good. I want to use it all the time. I am wasting time on watching fast pace media instead of starting reading again. It’s hard nowadays to be honest to get in touch which a slow medium like books again. So I hope less time waste and focusing on quality media. What do you think about my plans 😀

Does it have NFC for payments? Do Banking apps work? Is the Battery Life better than conventional mobile phones?
To me the big marketable wins for any e-ink smartphone should be battery life, improved screen clarity in sunlight, a better experience for the eyes and an alternative to a standard phone in that dissuades you from doom-scrolling on social media and converts you to reading books and articles...
It needs to have my top 3 as above though if it's going to be a viable replacement to my normal mobile phone and can be used as a daily driver.

Looking forward for Dimensity 900 version. Will definitely buy this phone.
It has it nearly all, except "headphone" jack. It is regressive to use adapters to connect amplifier again. (are we in 1996 again?)

    * First tested it on my bike (with the flying app). As a map is displayed (at 0.2Hz) I saw that battery life is very poor, nearly less than a usual phone, more than 10%/hour. I think these screens technology consume a lot of power when refreshed.
    * It broke at the first take off ! The seller told me it was punctured, I don't think it was. But the screen is now covered of dead pixels. He also said customers punctured it without noticing it, in a bag or something !!
    * NO WARRANTY said bigme, used it 4 weeks :-(

Why the heck does this only have 90 something dpi for colour?? If it’s kaleido 3 should it not be 150dpi for colour? Grey background for colour but crappy colour resolution? That’s a pass for me.

    • @goodereader

Kaleido 3 cuts the resolution by half
So if you have 300 ppi, then the color will be 150

Thanks, but on the Bigme website it says this unit has a dpi of 275 for b&w and only 91.9 dpi for colour. Strange eh? That colour dpi is smaller than kaleido 2 isn’t it?

    I have this Unit.
Personally i need this phone to detox from Social Media and excessively "useless, time eating use".
The Android System makes some trouble, i wish it be more like a normal Android and not "overlayed" with the Settings etc from Bigme.
Still possible to go to the normal Android settings , but take some efforts.
My german Sim Card doesn't geht recognized with a Pin Code, so i must take the pin out (its fine for me)
My Garmin Smartwatch loses connection, i tried to change some Batterie settings etc. Doesent work.
    Bluetooth for audio works fine.
Loudspeaker is terrible, but Good enough for calls.
I would prefer to buy the B&W Version an not the Color - the Color is not sharp enough
Biggest Problem for me is the NON working Android Auto, wired or Wireless. - that is shitty.
It can be fixed with a update (i think its gonna need to be installed as a System App or something)
I have make a notice to the Bigme Support, hoping that it will work someday.
Otherwise great "digital detox unit" for me.
