- This episode, we talk about grinders... Again... But this time we discuss the difference between a single dose grinder & a Hopper style grinder.
After using both types for some time now, can i decide between them? Or do we need both?

I found this a lot more informative than other videos on TH-cam. Super helpful in deciding which is best for me. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your feedback. 🙏
very timely video as I in the middle of getting another grinder just for this reason - daily driver with few steps in the workflow. Just another down side of a hopper is that there are some crushed beans sitting around the burr which did not get expelled. One way to keep things 'fresh' is - just having a smaller hopper which means you put fresh beans on a regular basis.
Very good point... I wonder how long it will be until grinders like the Sanremo X-One are in a consumer friendly price range. Then we get the best of both worlds... and more.
This is exactly what I am going to do with my Breville Oracle with its inbuilt grinder and I am hoping to pick up a DF83V on the Black Friday deals.
DF83v is a winner!!!
The 83 I’m trying to convince a mate to get one 😂 since your last review 😂
I genuinely love this thing hey... it has definitely surprised me.
@@mitchdoescoffee I can see that!
Brilliant video for us coffee noobs!
Thank you Mr Noob Tube. 😎
I don't like beans that have been sitting around in a hopper. I brew half a liter every day. I weigh everything that goes into my grinder, I don't see why this is considered "work". It takes seconds. I like single origin coffees. If I wanted to drink milk coffee or a blend, I'd buy preground coffee. The whole reason behind grinding coffee freshly is to keep all the volatile flavors. But why bother if a) your coffee doesn't have them, or b) you plan to mask them with milk?
Going off your comment, Would you be OK if a cafe served pre-ground coffee?
@mitchdoescoffee Most Cafés where I live (Germany) don't serve specialty/single origin coffees. They use cheap generic robusta blends in portafilter machines."Kaffee Crema" I drink these if I have to, but I don't enjoy it. These beans are very bitter and taste like ash. If they also offer pre ground coffee from a classic coffee maker, I'd indeed prefer that over the Ash-soup .... but I also wouldn't enjoy it. But YES the answer is yes. Freshly ground "Americanos" or "Cremas" in German Cafés are really horrible. You can't have these without milk and sugar.
There are a few cafes though that do offer good quality light roasted Arabica coffees from a v60 (e.g the barn, 19grams, Fjord etc.) But since a cup will cost you 8€, I rather buy beans from them and brew my coffee at home, were a 250g bag will give me 4l of coffee
@@maximilianklein2062 oh wow... I don't think any cafe will last long doing those things in Australia...
Now you may need DF64 Gen 2
It is a good grinder... But it doesn't have true hopper style grinding capabilities.
